Recently we bought xl6 alpha+ mt red n balck dual tone and we drove from visakhapatnam to chennai 864km one side and to drive it was fun and very satisfied to drive its smooth and reaponsive and i didnt find any problem to overtake we got a mileage of 21.2 km with full load of boot and 4people with 80-90 kmph. Totally we are very much satisfied with xl6
Bought the top manual XL6 in October '22 and this video isn't making me regret it. More than ok with the power deficit, love the mileage (getting 20+ on some drives but usually between 15 and 18) and the service. 3 Lakhs and the waiting time were a huge deal for me.
I bought Kia Carens 2 months back and fully satisfied with the performance it offered. I went to Bhimashankar with full 7 peoples capacity and luggage. It performed exceptionally well specially in uphill twist turns. And while downhilling it's steering feedback was amazing. Fuel is the little bit concern here maybe it will be better with next service. Pros - Better AC controls every seat has 1 AC along with spread and direct flow options which is advantage in this indian heat. Smooth and powerful steering feedback. All disc break makes breaking really better. Tried and tested on hills. Premium interior finishing makes feel good factor enhanced. Bigger and better infotainment touchscreen systems is really good. Entry to 3rd row witu just 1 button click seats folds. Cons - Fuel economy is less compared to Ertiga. My opinion on fuel may change with next service but yeah it is what it is at the moment

You should compare 1.5 litre engine of XL6 to the 1.5 litre engine of Carens, because that would be fare and the current is not because you are comparing naturally aspirated to turbocharged.
I bought my XL6 back in 2021 when the Karens was not launched. Even the XL6 was the earlier version, so I bought the base manual variant over the older 4 speed auto. However, if I was buying today, I'd probably still buy the XL6 auto because the thing that is more important is space. I find the space in the 3rd row and even the luggage compartment to be stellar in the XL6. You need to go up to the Innova level to get more space.
I have booked XL6 in the first week of Feb. Hopefully will receive the car on Holi. In my opinion, if you travel with your family (5-6 people) frequently, then go for Carens. But if you have usage like me where once in a while you need the 6 seater option then go for XL6 because it drives like a bigger hatchback and doesn't feel heavy or like a big car while driving. A few more points to note: the waiting period for the base models of Carens is too high (more than 8 months) and the mileage is of course much better in XL6.

The difference of 3 lakhs u mentioned is on the ex showroom which means its around 4 lakhs plus costlier than xl6 on road .diesel at full options costs near 24 from march.
XL6 is one of the Best MPV which i have been using from the past 2.5 years. Mileage friendly I'm getting an average of 15-17. Service cost is less. Like they said in power differences you don't felt that lag. Overall XL6 is best value for money.
KIA as a brand is the prime example of how to design and build a car for Indian mass market.. Once a totally Alien brand to us, now turned the entire indian car market upside down, While Major players like Ford, Harley just quit after years of experience in India...WHAT A SHAME.
excellent review, my suggestion is that if you can include the warranty periods of the cars as mpv are used majorly for mile munching so having a longer warranty is surely a plus point
I purchase XL6 in 2021, the car is very good in terms of mileage and space. If I talk about the space then it is very good but if you are not using 6 seats everyday but for a family trip it quiet good and if i talk about the mileage then it is giving me approx 15-16 in city drive and 19-20 on highway if I use cruise control but it depends on your driving. As a owner i recommend that it was a value for money product.👍
If that is the case, then safari is just 3 lakhs above Kia carens and the best one and better features and safety too. Why don’t you compare with that ?
I was thinking that too.. 3 lakhs is a big amount, so in that way there can be comparison with Alcazar, Safari and XUV700 as well and even triber at the lower end. Basically cost matters a lot I feel.
both the XL6 & KIA Carens could do with front & rear lateral strut bars for greater torsional rigidity & enhanced stiffening . . . resulting in more sure footed handling on twisty roads . . . a retuned suspension calibration will be an added benefit . . . the Carens could do with a pair of proper forward facing multi-adjustable leather trimmed captain seats . . .
India needs 5 star mpvs. Both these cars are good but 3 star crash ratings are a big bummer.i myself was going to book xl6 AT but changed my mind, now saving money to buy a safari.
The last line of 3 lakhs more I guess makes a big difference.. 3 lakhs is a substantial difference. Maruti needs to bring sportier versions of their cars. Don't know why they don't get their turbo engines to india. Better Safety rating n a turbo engine is all they need. (And a sunroof I guess 😉😉)

Loved the way the review was done, but i think it's a little unfair to compare the Xl6's 1.5 engine with the 1.4 engine of the Karens. Maybe another review with both of their 1.5 petrol manuals?
Karens 1.5 is available only in the Base version, so it doesn't make sense to compare this with premium versions of XL6. Also the 1.4L is the real deal bcz it comes with a Turbo engine and is more powerful than the 1.5.
I like the instrument cluster on the XL6. It looks like it's been designed after an expensive watch of sorts. And the one on Carens is the worst design choice in an otherwise beautiful car. It looks like they took inspiration from Casio calculators. It looks awful.
One doesn't even need to watch till the end to know the verdict by Autocar India. It is quite an absolute fact that Carens is leagues ahead of the XL6. Unless and until Maruti Suzuki ditches the "kitna deti hai" and "utilitarian" philosophy, it will continue to push average and basic amenities in its Nexa vehicles, thereby completely going against the premium platter that Maruti wants to offer to customers from its Nexa offerings.
When both cars are standing next to each other xl6 is smaller in height than carens but in details it shows vice versa??? Howz it possible??? Infact seating height is also higher than xl6..??!!!!
And I'd say, these cars are far better choice than Creta and Seltos type cars. Like literally, they're so comfy with adequate enough performance and get all required features....If u rly want performance get a sedan, instead of spending 24 lakhs on Creta it's better to spend on these.
XL6 is much better looking, better at crash test rating of 4 stars ( as built on a same platform as Ertiga), more fuel efficient (Maruti legacy), affordable than Carens, also the variants line up is much more understandable than complicated one’s on the Kia’s…

We got both in petrol guise, manual. I like the Carens over the XL6. The only place where the XL 6 is MARGINALLY, repeat marginally better is the seat comfort. For me it’s Carens PS: the Carens is 1.4 turbo

The fact Maruti Suzuki india doesn't have a diesel engine across its offerings is very unfortunate. Even Carens Petrol has a much more powerful engine than XL6 And diesel is just too good.
The KIA feels a generation above the Xl6.So the price is justified.But terrible safety rstings for cars that are supposed to move families on risky indian highways.Thats a big deterrent.
It’s high time we Indians should let go of our obsession for Maruti before it’s too late. The global ncap ratings of swift and other Maruti hatchbacks already has proven how unsafe and cheap their build quality is. I myself own a 2019 Ertiga and I know how irritating it feels when fully loaded. Despite of a 1.5 l power train it feels so freaking underwhelming. I truly wish Carens had launched back in 2019 😢
Don’t fake it, i have driven both the cars on lease xl6 can do ghats on 3rd gear with ac on with almost full load and Kia has to down shift 😂. Kia is also good but if you compare ertiga and kia’s price you can buy fuel in ertiga for almost 5 year between the price gap for top spec with almost same features.😬
If I would buy an MPV, I will choose none of them, because they are unsafe with 3 stars. I would rather save some money and get a Renault Triber. It is not powerful, t's engine isn't that strong, and won't feel premium as these unsafe MPVs, but it is decently well equipped, well pacakged and also most importantly, hs a 4 star safety.
Am not sure what's the thing about not having a type C usb port !!!! Are we buying a phone or a car??? We should not be even talking about what type of USB port is provided....!!!

Maruti seats are comfortable. Engine is very reliable

Me too....but the only confusion is that wheather the engine will be bs6 phase 2 complient or not...will the engine support upcomming E20 petrol??
Maruti cars are reliable and tension free.
@@soham3679 Don't think so. K15C is the same 1500cc engine used in Brezza, Vitara etc. So, don't think it will support E20 petrol.

If I had stretch to 17 lakhs to get the Carens, I would just get the new Innova.

Innova hycross is a much better option compared to higher models of carens . Further Kia is not known for it's built quality.

Xl6 1.5 is far better also the carens 2nd and 3rd row seats have no under thigh support so in terms of an MPV xl6 is clearly better

Kia's 1.4l turbo returns 9 - 10 kmpl on Highways with full load on the other hand XL6 1.5l NA returns 17- 18 Kmpl on Highways
