Icehouse and Split Enz are 2 of my Top 3 Bands, coincidentally from Austraila, since 1980. Icehouse, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated bands ever.
Split Enz is from New Zealand :D
Hello@@pennygeddis9148
Thanks for the correction. I think it was late at night when I typed that comment. :(
@@pennygeddis9148 Yeah I was gonna 2nd that! Icehouse is so much better!
@@KevinRMullins Well Crowded House had most of their success in Australia before more international success. Most bands move from NZ to Aus such as Jenny Morris, Dragon & Noiseworks etc.
Icehouse completely smokes split enz
The most powerful version of "Don't Believe Anymore" I hve seen Icehouse perform. One of the greatest Aussie bands ever. 🇦🇺
the opening synths were awesome!
🤟🇦🇺🤟🇦🇺
Here is a breakdown of Don't Believe Any More by Guy Pratt, who played bass on Side Walk and Measures for Measures. m.ruclips.net/video/zQlhUqAgJo4/видео.html
@@thebloke5162 Yeah, I pestered him to play it. I think he got sick of me asking him to do a playthrough of it. Not his favourite song to play as he finds it a bit simple. But yeah, one of my favourite Icehouse songs ever. An absolute classic.
@@SuperRoo_22 yer it's a great song.

Why did you leave some songs out, just asking.
@@Pipsterpuss they’re just my favourite songs, i’ll fix it. sorry! :)
Don't apologise Shelby it's all good, was just wondering why!
Dance on should be there
thank you
Icehouse, amazing fantastic band! And in this incarnation, with Guy Pratt! Fretless bass is so smooth.
I'm not so sure he is actually playing fretless on most of this - looks like a fretted Steinberger L2. He does play his fretless Status series 2 on Don't Believe Anymore however - which he does in this excellent video ruclips.net/video/zQlhUqAgJo4/видео.html
Bryan Ferry certainly agrees with you
Sidewalk has always been my favorite Icehouse album....
Iva Davies & Icehouse - all the way to the grave. Best Australin band ever!
@@davidharding200
You felt so smart typing that didn't you? 🤯🪓💥
Nice to see young Guy Pratt here. One of my favourite bass players to this very day...
I saw them a couple of times in the early 80s, not as polished as this. Might have been the Uni/Antler/Rydalmere. After one of them, I managed to pash a Miss NSW contestant, until a so-called friend busted in on us.
This concert stuck with me because it was in Germany, where I was going on student exchange, no bloody idea how I found out about it, they must have put it on Rage or something similar. I taped it on my pissweak VHS machine.
Thank you for this portal into my past.
When smoking on stage was part of the show. Love Icehouse so much!
Young me was there. Can't believe how time flew.
Hi to all Icehouse Fans all across the globe.
Greetings from Germany
Servus! - aus Australien.
Great band!! Listening in 2024 ❤️
Such great musicians, what an awesome concert. Is this high end music and creativity lost forever in XXI century....?
I always loved Icehouse's music and talent. Thanks to Icehouse for showing such beautiful music and talent.
Dusty Pages has always been my favourite of theirs...I wish they'd still play it at concerts!
I'm sure they'll play it on the Sidewalk 40th anniversary tour! Ooops that was June, this year!
The guy with the sax 🎷 is the icing on the cake!
is that Jo Jo Zep ? Joe Camilaro ??? 😁
Icehouse legend band.
Amazing band! Then and now.
Joe Camilleri on sax. This Time is the best Bryan Ferry song that he never wrote.
I put this on a loop. Nice!
I saw this concert on Aussie TV (and video cassette) a few times as a kid. I thought it was lost totally. Great to see it again.
Amazing band
I was at the Sidewalk album launch at the Chevron Hotel(long gone) in Sydney in 84. Joe Camallieri on his pink sax!
Did he get bashed afterwards?
@@tumslucks9781 who?
I love this music😄😄🤠👍
....Taking The Town......slick.
Joe's diggin it. They rock out in a funky tight manner 🙌🏽
What a rare gem of a concert and such clarity.
I latched on to this band in my formative years for their american radio hit Electric Blue, like most.
then got to roam thru the back catalogue, picking up new cassettes with my meager allowance.
thanks for this!
Excellent! Before Miami Vice fashion wave hit and the mullets came out...
In Latino America today is also friendship Day and Valentine's Day. All the best Icehouse. I love you guys.
I saw this band on Saturday, October 17, 1981 at Perkins Palace in Pasadena Ca.. I think it was the "Great Southern Land" tour. There was an opening band that I don't remember the name of and then Bruce "Babyman" Baum, the comedian did his act. It was one hell of a concert, I must say.
Great Southern Land was released in August 1982.
love taking the town
Amazing band who couldn't get an more amazing bass player like guy pratt!
Really amazing!
Joe Camilleri on sax as well. He founded another band called The Black Sorrows. 👍🇦🇺
@@SuperRoo_22 yeah the sax player was amazing too. I give the band a listen to. Thanks!
@@mrdan5943 Yeah, The Black Sorrows are good, but different to Icehouse. See what you think.
And JoJo Zep and the Falcons

Iva having the smoke while singing. Legendary.
Not good for his voice. Copying Bowie maybe?
Health and Safety ?? so selfish , and dangerous , oh shit forgot that was back in the good ole days , none of that bollocks !!🤣
Wow que clase de musica de lo mejor que e escuchado excelente deveras🙂
I wish I was there
I was in Augsburg 19th June 83. A Midsummer's Dream❤️
ice house and motels and inxs...best of australia
good concert.
J'adore
Ça manque
The bass wow
Yeah, he was GUY PRATT... 3 years later he became the PINK FLOYD Bass Player
Guy Pratt on Bass, also played with Pink Floyd on their Delicate Sound of Thunder tour.
God Damn Iva - SO hot
Great concert! Always wanted to hear songs from Sidewalk live.
If I read FM Setlist correctly Icehouse opened for Yes on this night. The 9012Live Tour.
I find it strange that the record was called Sidewalk as the word Footpath is more correct word!
First song very Roxy Music
Iva Davies was heavily influenced by Bryan Ferry & David Bowie but what the hell Iva is 1,853 times better than both of them put together 👍😀👍
I know I watched an interview with the INXS manager Chris Murphy where he discussed meeting David Bowie and not wanting INXS to stay in Australia and open for Him
And in the interview he mentions how Bowie had heard of Iva Davies and had heard that he wanted to be the next him
And my response was but Iva Davies is way more talented than what David Bowie was
He’s a multi instrumentalist singer songwriter with a great voice and a lot of great songs and albums which is more than what you can say for Bowie
And I like quite a few of his songs but Iva is better
Nah. Bowie will always be great.
Marc Bolan
Bowie was also a multi instrumentalist an actor and an icon worldwide, will always be a legend, and released new music right up till he died. Iva or Icehouse have not released anything new in 27 years, so how can you compare them?
I've been an Icehouse fan since day one, but Bowie will always be better.
@@MrAdam8484 Iva has way more songs than David Bowie. Sure the bloke was good but Iva's catalogue of Icehouse songs is far more catchy & vast. The issue is that David was English & Iva is Australian. It seems to be easier to achieve worldwide fame is you are from the Usa or the Uk. Whereas it seems to be harder for other nations to have the same kind of success & credibility too.
Back then Iva Sounded like Bryan Ferry, funny but now no more, I loved the Ferry spin-off especially in Sidewalk. Eve a bit Roxy in it. Icehouse is a Australia's powerhouse especially now with the additoin of Michael Paynter who is an incredible vocalist and gel's well with tneir style
Great basslines
had to look twice but another aussie legend on sax
Good thing they removed the audience from the mix, which got pushed up way too high for the FM broadcast.
17:47 Who's that 'Guy in the Middle'? Agent Cody Pratt? With a time machine to go back to 1984 and rip it up. Legend 😆
💋💋💋💋💋💋
A great band Top 10 together with Journey - Mr Mister - Deep Purple - Triumph - Genesis - The Big Dish - Levelers - The Cure - Depeche Mode.
11:39 Guy Pratt (David Gilmour, Pink Floyd, Madonna, Bryan Ferry, Michael Jackson, ...).
I liked the guitar playing very much.
Bob was always my favorite :-)
Don't they ever play the electric guitar on their penis?
@@anthonywilfredwong4545 What the fuck?
Anthony Wilfred Wong only on the 3rd Saturday of the month otherwise normal guitar playing was the order of the day 🤣😂
I think the video has been slowed down and pitch-shifted to beat the audio copyright system? It also misses out on the encore "Dance On". Nonetheless, thank you for the upload.
Originally I think it was 50/25fps been slowed downed to 24fps for some reason.
Iva Davies is a bit like Australia's David Bowie.
I associate him as more like Bryan Ferry, probably because Primitive Man came out just 4 months after Roxy Music's Avalon and had a similar vibe to it.
tell me that they don't have any Brian Ferry/ Roxy albums in their collection...
Is that Iva or Brian Ferry on vocals?!
Great quality video ... But, Iva sounds a bit throaty & nasally ...
Smoking will do that to you...
LoL
8:34 Nasty Nazi throws object at Iva.
