I am 67 years old and grew up listening to this man's music and l am humbled by his talent and letting this young man sing his songs and l am sure this young man is also humbled to sing Iva's songs. This group on the other side of the world with Iva singing have i been listen to for years. Their music, Ivar voice, fantastic evrything to listen to. I am 68 and seen most of their music and never get tired of listening to their music. We got music via MTV in our houses via parabol disc antenna and their music was fantastic in stereo on our stereoamplifyers with big speakers. I saw Michael Paynter on the voice years ago and while he didn't win surprisingly.I only found out he joined Icehouse when I saw them and Rochford Winery in Melbourne last weekend..His version of this song gives me shivers I haven't stopped listening to it..his voice is nothing short of AMAZING..A great addition to the best Australian band there ever was..ICEHOUSE ❤
This is such a beautiful song written by Iva Davies about his dad who loved to paint. I keep coming back to it and Michael Paynter does a wonderful version of it. Iva, being gracious, passes the torch to Michael and lets the young man sing his heart out and he sure does. Love the music of Ice House and Michael Paynter of The Veronica’s.
I saw Icehouse - including Michael - perform this yesterday at One Electric day. I had been waiting for a long time to see and hear it live. It did not disappoint. 🤯
Discovered this a few weeks ago when it was played on the radio. Play it now on endless rotation as it is truly incredible. Gives me goose bumps and truly love the oboe also. Amazing ❤❤

Michael Paynter's voice is beautiful and his singing is so skillful. Ivor Davies voice is still so good too - has that original smoothness from when the album was released.
51 years old, did not really discover Icehouse until ‘Crazy’ in 1987. As cd’s were expensive, I rented the ‘Man of Colours’ cd at the local cd rental shop. Partly became the soundtrack of my puberty, along with the ‘Bad Animals’ album by Heart. Still love those albums. And damn… ‘Man of Colours’ probably is sung best by Michael, but nothing beats the original track on the album.
It's more like Icehouse featuring Michael Paynter. Their song their concert. As nice as this rendition is it doesn't compare to Davies' version, sorry.
