A side-by-side, shot-for-shot comparison between four adaptations of the Lewis Carroll novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.
This side-by-side is intended to show the multitude of choices when different groups of filmmakers adapt the same source material.
That 1933 one is surprisingly advanced and even does some effects better than the 80s and 90s ones! Bit interesting actually.
Yes, the Cheshire Cat looked much better - apart from the disappearing effect.

They always forget 1972 version, that is my favorite.
Mine too, though the 1999 is a very *very* close runner up.

Great video. I think you should give a little bit more time on each cut when showing 4 different movies at the same time because it's hard to concentrate on all of them.

Yes, I believe it was. Personally I'm not a fan of movies being colorized. It's not what the creators intended.

Where is the 2010 version?
I grew up in the 1960s, one of four siblings, and the 1933 version was the one I knew as a child. The 1933 film (and The Wizard of Oz) would air on TV about once a year, and it was always a big event for the family to gather around and watch. We also had the book with the original John Tenniel illustrations, which the 1933 version stays fairly true to. I never could stand the Disney (1951) version, it’s way to saccharine and sanitized for me to stomach. The others are ok, including the Tim Burton (2010) one, but the 1933 version will always be the definitive one for me.
1999 version i think is the best one.

It's a reimagining. It doesn't follow the same storyline. The comparison would probably be only 30 seconds long, if even that.

I'm sure this has been said before, but I agree, I think that Alice in Wonderland works the best with animation. You can do FAR more with it. To me, it looks much better than a person in a costume.

I think its Disney that is weird. My issue is, Alice is meant to be "Quote real" but when its all cartoon it loses the effect of going into a world of absurdity. I think even Walt Disney himself didnt like Alice in Wonderland Disney movie

Because the 2010 version is like the Sequel. As you can see that its story places after Alice go to Wonderland for the first time.
