Thanks for this review Rick, I had watched your initial Kirkland wedge review and I ended up buying them to expand my wedge game (previously only had a pitching wedge and sand wedge). I was recently wondering how they stacked up to the premium wedges performance wise so this is a perfectly timed video.
If your not gonna be hitting any “special” shots ya they’re fine but if you want to hit some spinning bunker shots and get the ball to spin back they won’t work
This was a great video Rick! Feels good to have my purchase decision validated. I got the Kirkland wedges here in Toronto for $179. And they are truly amazing. Love them and love that I didn’t have to spend $150 for each instead is used that money for tee times, (or golf balls if I’m real lol). Appreciate all the videos brother!! Can’t wait to see you review the Garmin R10!! Cheers!
Here in the states we have "medium" level brands, its what i ended up going for in wedges. Maltby tsw drm wedges. Full forged, built to spec with what shafts you want, length, lie, loft etc. Not as many bounce or no differences in grinds. But nice wedges for about $75 usd per wedge
@@Woopigmavs I have built and fitted for Maltby for about 11 years. I dont work for them, I am a 2 hcp, i love their stuff. Their TS1 and TS2 irons are amazing, same tech as taylormade 790 and I want to say Maltby brought it to market first. Their FGT wedge is the best one they have ever made. For years they couldnt make a driver or woods or hybrids well, I think Rick eludes to this, Their latest KE4 adjustable is as good as the g410 and very long for alot of forum goers. I pair these clubs with Paderson shafts or C-taper everyone loves them and I have built many a friends a set just after hitting mine.
I’ve been testing out the MG3 and I’m not a big Taylormade guy but I’ve really been enjoying them and am surprised by their forgiveness honestly. Really think they are the best looking wedges right now too.
@@Mikesmeyer88 I wasn’t really expecting much of a difference when I got them but after a few days of hitting them I have been impressed. Definitely worth a try. Have a great feel through the tuff, which that and the forgiveness I wasn’t expecting at all. I’m a fan of them. Plus I think their the best looking wedges personally.
I just bought my set of Kirkland wedges not too long ago and I’ve loved them. No reason to spend a fortune on wedges, I have owned Callaway Cleveland and Taylor made wedges in the past but I don’t think I’m going back now.
Thanks Rick , you just fixed my slice over the weekend. I wanted to buy Kirkland but was bit doubtful, now it’s seems clear I am buying Kirkland wedges.
Watched your video on the Kirkland wedges and purchased them off your review. Could not be happier with them. Good feel, spin, and durability. For the price, an excellent purchase. Thanks and keep the great product reviews coming.
Best utility club I had in my bag for ages was a $20 56 degree wedge (then the bag got stolen, I replaced my irons, driver, and woods with the Calloway Edge set from Costco you reviewed, and my wife gave me the Kirkland wedges for Christmas...very satisfied with my replacement set...Thanks, Rick for your advice, especially aimed at us budget minded duffers!!)
Same here also using the Kirkland Signature golf ball as well . Good ball that doesn't upset me when I lose one considering they are only £29 for 2 dozen.
Sorry if this is a boomer question, but i wasn't sure if the Costco Kirkland was the same maker of these wedges? That was just too wild for me to comprehend.
Saw initial reviews, plus a head to head against Vokey SM8. Then tried one that a buddy had and immediately bought a set to replace my older SM's. Only downside for me was had to buy 3 and only wanted 2 of them but the price difference is crazy. Changed the grips to something else but that was personal preference. Very happy with the 56 & 60 that I use.
My mate who’s off 4 bought some of the Kirklands and these and had a go of them the other day. Really nice. Look a bit like Vokey sm7’s, soft and versatile soles. Very impressed
I’m def a budget golfer right now and currently have the Kirkland wedges in my bag, good to see you play just as good with them. I started a year and a half ago shooting well over 100 but thanks to yours a finchies videos I’m consistent mid 90’s now with some bad days and broke 90 for the first time a few weeks ago around stadium course, well chuffed i was!!! Keep up the good work!!!
I actually spoke to a Callaway Master Fitter/ Regional Rep last week about wedges and he explained the differences between the patents of all the major brands and such and mentioned that there was a 6% or less variance between spin rates and overall performance of the wedge. The major difference is being fitted for them because the sweet spot on the wedge changes based on design patents. When I jokingly asked about Kirkland wedges he just looked at me and said, "6 percent". Great video as always.
This fits with what I’ve found to be the case with my wedges. I had a nice mix of “better” wedges in my bag but when they started to really reach the end of their lifespan I opted to give the Bombtech wedges a go. You’re right that the swing “feel” was different, the weight distribution was not the same as the other wedges. I was really pleased with what I was getting from them. I doubt I’d be as happy with their driver (or the irons for that matter) but high cost doesn’t necessarily reflect a proportionate difference in quality with wedges.
2 weeks in to my golf adventures, I have a basic set of clubs that cost me $950 (New Zealand dollars). But I also treated myself to a lovely 60 degree lob wedge and ended up with a Vokey and it is a pleasure to use. I have one club in my bag that is worth nearly 1/3 of the rest of my set in total, and I love it.
Rick, I bought the Kirkland's after watching your initial review. As I am on a budget it was the best choice for me, I have been extremely pleased and.. have had allot of looks and questions after good shots! Thanks Rick for your no bs reviews! Love the channel!
I don't often hit my 60 degree wedge 180 yards ... but when I do, it's from a greenside bunker. I have the Kirkland signature wedges. I really love them. My MacDaddy wedges are living in the garage.
I went out and bought the Kirkland wedges on the back of your previous review and I’m glad to say I love them! And so good to see that you rate them against high end wedges. Thanks Rick 👍🏼
I bought the Kirkland wedge set off the back of your test and can say anything other than great things about them. I changed the grips immediately as I felt the grips were a little thin and because I’m used to playing the Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2. £21 for new grips and I wouldn’t change them for any other wedge set! Brilliant bargain!
Can you make a video about what to do if you feel like you've lost your swing on the course? I'm curious to hear your tips! Thanks for everything you do!
Couldn't agree more!! I had and hand me down Vokey wedge that was in great shape, and yes it was amazing! I purchased the Kirkland wedges because of the price point, oh and because of your review! I personally love the Kirkland wedges. I hit them very well and they feel great! If you want a great alternative to spending $500 just on wedges, Kirkland wedges are your way to go!
Ordered myself some Kirkland wedges today. Needed to replace my 56 degree and my wedges currently are a mismatch of old second/third hand Vokeys and Clevelands - 3 brand new wedges for the price of buying 1 Vokey 56. Can't argue with that, especially considering all reviews seem to show that Kirkland are good
Ive been trying to piece together a golf set and having a bit of a struggle. I ended up getting a deal on a near new condition 2004 big bertha irons 4i down to 50°. They do perform well, but i end up fatting the 50° when trying to use it as a wedge for chip shots... pretty much have to use it like an iron. Not much selection where i am so my choice is A) buy new inexpensive online or B) buy used pro. My idea is just get one wedge 56° and open and close the face to get my variety.
I own the Kirklands thanks to your 1st review. I like them a lot. People ask me what are those? And did not know Costco had them. I didnt find 1 person that tried mine that didnt like them.
That was quite informative. If I win the "ANY SET OF IRONS" prize you offered, I'm not asking for a Kirkland set but I've got my eyes on some mid range options that would just look pretty in the bag...and probably perform just as well as the top rated sets.
I prefer my Cleveland zipcore wedges to anything out there. However you hit the nail on the head. If you are budget minded. 3 clubs for the price of 1 can't be beat. However flipside. I play 50 55 60. Does Kirkland even make wedges iPhone lofts? Or are you going to have to bend them once purchased if you are in the same boat. Then you will need to pay to have them bent if they are forged and bendable and not cast. Good video though.
Rick, you’re an absolute gem! Thank you for making this video, it is exactly what I was looking for! Ordered the Kirkland wedges and I’m going to give them a go.
Such a great video. You really do the foot work for people like us so we dont have to spend a lot of money trying to improve our game. You tell it how you honestly feel and that's important. I definitely trust your judgment on all things golf. Thank you for all the helpful content. It has saved me money in golf lessons.
I would be extremely tempted by the Kirkland wedges for my next wedge refresh if not for the fact that you can't get the length or lie angle fit for you. Won't make much difference for chipping but will make a big difference for those full-swing approach shots into the green. Half an inch shaft length and 2-3 degrees lie angle is the difference between getting it close enough to the pin to putt for birdie and having a 20-30 yard putt and the possibility of a 3-putt.
You make a great point. Performance is the most important metric, at least for me. If the most expensive wedge gives you the same result as the cheaper one, I would choose the cheaper one. I also recognize that, like women's handbags, brand prestige can be a factor. If you have the money and desire the admiring looks with a high-end wedge, it might be worth the money. I support what Costco is doing here: making quality clubs affordable and enabling more people to play an expensive sport.
Great honesty.. the one difference is if I spend £450 of three wedges I am going to get them professionally fitted so the shaft, lofts, bounce etc suit every aspect of my swing, and I cant realistically do that with Kirkland..
1st off.. I love EVERYTHING you do! Between you, Pete, Matt and Andy, my game has improved drastically (started back playing 2 months ago after about an 8 year lay off). Not sure if you've done it already or can you review PXG clubs? I'll be in the market for new clubs and I wonder if the "hype"(from the commercials) is legit. Thanx in advance. Keep up the great work!
Great comparison. I have been pondering the Kirkland wedges for a while and you have help make up my mind. Relatively new to the game and these seem to be right up my alley. Thanks Rick. Just became a subscriber.
Great videos Rick! What I would have found interesting to see is a direct comparison with gcQuad. How would the spin differ etc, a bit more numbers oriented not just feel.
What's your thoughts rick and specialist golf wedges vs a set I.e. vokey vs a ping 425 set with additional gap wedge and lob wedges which performs better feels better. May be a video there for you
Great video as always. I'm trying to find a video you might have done that would explain when looking at wedges what bounce we should be considering for what circumstances in which we typically play. I generically think low bounce for the club we would use from short grass (although I have no particular idea what percent that would be). And higher bounce for shots from the rough and possibly the sand. But I am utterly confused by the options.
Was in Costco’s today just lost my Vokey wedge was going to buy the TM wedge you’ve just reviewed it but going to buy the Kirkland think the price was 118 b4 VAT so I’m going to give them a go SW is 10 bounce and 60 degree lob wedge is only 8 bounce think they will fit nicely with my PXG irons lol
I talked my dad into getting these. I’m me personally huge on feel and look play SM8s but I’m also off scratch. My dad kept buying super used and wasting money on random stuff over priced too. And I showed him these Kirkland and explained that brand new grooves will make a huge difference. Funny enough. He is happy to even see a ball spin too much lol cuz he has never seen it before spun some off the green and told me see that great shot how much it spun. I just laugh and enjoy seeing him enjoy golf again. Next I’m going to try and teach him how to use them correctly and flight a wedge so it hops and stops and no more over swung steep high spinners.
My irons, woods, and driver are Taylormade but the only wedges I like to use are Clevelands. Just been hitting them for so long and I'm super comfy behind them. Love the new Zipcore model 52 and 48. My SW is the "older" RTX3 56 as well as my 60. Just don't see ever changing brands when it comes to wedges. But, if I was ever in a place where I wasn't as financially sound, I'd have no problem hitting the Kirklands. I've hit their premium ball a few times and I liked it so I think they're onto something with their golf products in general.
Had the Kirkland wedges in the bag since I took up golf seriously last year. Absolutely spot on, wasn’t prepared to spend 450 quid on 3 wedges, so 150 fitted perfectly for me as a new golfer. Can’t see me swapping them out anytime soon as they work, so why fix something which isn’t broke!
What an intro. Rick looking like an absolute boss! Recently started into looking at a wedge set to complete my bag (still need a driver though) and really love the look of the new callaway jaws full toes with maybe getting them customised with my kids names on them but this is making me rethink that as the cost would be ridiculous compared to a set like the kirklands
Do you know Rick years a go I won a putter at my golf club .it was a cheaper one but looked ok and putted ok,but as I needed a new putter I asked the Pro if I could compare it with a Ping putter ? .he agreed to let me try .I tried both and couldn't tell much difference but I paid a little extra and had the Ping ! To this day still use that same putter ,my thinking was it's the best so why change.
Hi Rick, please test the Lazrus wedges from Amazon. I have a full set and absolutely love them. Would like to see how they compare to Kirkland as Lazrus is quite a bit cheaper
I use vokey for their bounce/loft/sole options and in general have always used them because I'm used to them. I actually prefer the feel off the Kirkland better than my vokey SM7s.
9 minutes on the Taylormade Wedge, loads of shots of various types and heaps of hype. Followed by 30seconds of Kirkland Signature wedges not even the same shots and barely any footage. Good vid Rick top notch fair comparison video.
Rick, your chipping is getting better everyday, you did great with both kinds of wedges today, now bring that to the next challenge with the boys and we won’t hear any polls of fun with those shots. I agree about the wedges, I can’t afford the high price wedges so it’s good to know that the lower price ones work just as well. Nice video Rick as always
Rick.. thank you for doing this review. I have been intrigued by the Kirkland wedges. I almost bought the Kirkland putter but I found to good of a deal to pass up on a older odyssey putter. I actually use the Kirkland golf ball and I love it!

If your not gonna be hitting any “special” shots ya they’re fine but if you want to hit some spinning bunker shots and get the ball to spin back they won’t work
@@Terriblegolfer16 You referring to Kirkland that want work? I use Kirkland wedges and they do more spin than my vokey from the bunker.
@@mugz_1437 ya sure
@@Terriblegolfer16 ruclips.net/video/5RQB5YmTJ4M/видео.html
Watch this and see how good these wedges are, no different to a vokey.
Cheers!
This is why i subscribe to this channel. No brand snobbery and no golf snobbery. Thank you Rick.
How have you liked the Maltbys compared to vokey, Cleveland, etc? Been tempted by Maltby for awhile…
Look up club nut wedges. Some dude in Pennsylvania that builds them. Super affordable and top quality. A hidden gem you might say
I actually got the Kirklands about a month ago after watching your 1st video on them. Love them! Another great video Rick!
I’ve been testing out the MG3 and I’m not a big Taylormade guy but I’ve really been enjoying them and am surprised by their forgiveness honestly. Really think they are the best looking wedges right now too.
That's what I've been hearing. People say they're better than vokeys and that's a pretty big statement but when everyone says it.
Absolutely love my Costco wedges, completely changed my confidence and ability around the green !!
Same here also using the Kirkland Signature golf ball as well . Good ball that doesn't upset me when I lose one considering they are only £29 for 2 dozen.
Waiting for a lefty set.
@@dirtpipedan same dude…. same
Sorry if this is a boomer question, but i wasn't sure if the Costco Kirkland was the same maker of these wedges? That was just too wild for me to comprehend.
I'm new to the game and really contemplating getting these
Used Kirkland wedges this year…so far so good…great performance at an outstanding price…highly recommended
Just bought the Kirklands last week and saw this video! Bought it because of your previous review video so a big thanks. Now I am even happier!!
Picked up the Kirkland wedges about two weeks ago, and they are really quite well.
I love my Kirkland wedges. They have changed how I play around the green the past year. Thanks for the video!
The club throw intro was my favorite part 😂
I bought the Kirkland wedge set off the back of your test and can say anything other than great things about them. I changed the grips immediately as I felt the grips were a little thin and because I’m used to playing the Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2. £21 for new grips and I wouldn’t change them for any other wedge set! Brilliant bargain!
Can you make a video about what to do if you feel like you've lost your swing on the course? I'm curious to hear your tips! Thanks for everything you do!
Great and honest test 👍 Weight distribution 🤔 If you do blind test, can you really feel it or notice difference?
Couldn't agree more!! I had and hand me down Vokey wedge that was in great shape, and yes it was amazing! I purchased the Kirkland wedges because of the price point, oh and because of your review! I personally love the Kirkland wedges. I hit them very well and they feel great! If you want a great alternative to spending $500 just on wedges, Kirkland wedges are your way to go!
That was really helpful. I am looking for wedges and Kirkland keep getting recommended. What are the grips like?
Rick for a mid to high handicapper would you suggest kirkland wedges?
I play the kirklands. Gave my old vokey's to my wife. The gaping was perfect for my irons. Love them.
Thanks, I love and respect the honesty….. from a high handicaper
I own the Kirklands thanks to your 1st review. I like them a lot. People ask me what are those? And did not know Costco had them. I didnt find 1 person that tried mine that didnt like them.
Quite an honest test . Congrats. Best wishes from Argentina.
Omg mate, the video that I’ve been waiting for the review of the MG3. Thanks so much, Rick. Now the question is, will the MG3 go in your bag?
That was quite informative. If I win the "ANY SET OF IRONS" prize you offered, I'm not asking for a Kirkland set but I've got my eyes on some mid range options that would just look pretty in the bag...and probably perform just as well as the top rated sets.
I love my Lazrus wedges off Amazon! Replaced the shafts with KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 125s and CP2 wrap. Even cheaper than Kirkland, has extra grooves on face.
I liked the video simply because how impressed I was with those three tosses and catches on the KS Wedges
Bought these about 2 months ago... this video makes me glad I did.
Great honesty.. the one difference is if I spend £450 of three wedges I am going to get them professionally fitted so the shaft, lofts, bounce etc suit every aspect of my swing, and I cant realistically do that with Kirkland..
Every time I watch your videos I feel comfort and happiness
Test the md golf wedges . Look amazing and first time have hit backspin in my life.
Love it, but it really should have been done from identical spots. And, was the bounce the same?
You should review the LAZRUS wedge set next. They’re number one on Amazon
Cobra King Black Classic Grind $89 USD/club found at Global Golf. Got them brand new and in June. Great feel, great value.
I play Kirkland wedges right now and I traded out my vokeys for them. They’re actually great. Good video Rick!
Any chance of Rangefinder reviews. I don't wanna be drawn into that Bushnell lifestyle if I don't have too.
I use vokey for their bounce/loft/sole options and in general have always used them because I'm used to them. I actually prefer the feel off the Kirkland better than my vokey SM7s.
Great video Rick! Thanks for confirming what I have wondered for a while. Just got the Kirkland putter last week and love the performance!
