I live in the heart of Seattle. I'm looking at buying my first bike as an adult (31) and found this video helpful. If you were closer I'd try to throw some business your way. Thanks Jared!
Just change cassette and chain. You can get a good 10 gears for less then 50 bucks. No point of changing shifters. Look at it as partly upgraded. Just finish upgrade with one piece change. You are now downgrading it to match lowest component. IMO this might actually be 10 gear bike and previous owner needed his good 10 speed cassette for his new bike and slapped old cassette and chain.
Monday morning quarter back. It was 8 speed. The 10 speed shifters were roached and the cage on the 10 speed XT was bent. It was way cheaper to make the change back to 8 speed. In this case, the cost was more important to the customer than trying to have a 10 speed gear system. The front chainrings and front derailleur were 8 speed. This was the cheapest and most efficient way to go. Thanks for the input.
@@JaredMorris1 Yes, looks like you made good decision. Just checked the prices of shifter... I didn't know you can both 8x3 shifters for less then 15 bucks. Does make a difference.
@@JaredMorris1 you should have mentioned that part in your video, otherwise @frantzs1077 is correct. Running internal cable is not that hard, time spent whining about itwould have been the same time spent on running the cable

Thanks for your time and good luck!
On a older road bike i have shimano 600 8 speed shifts perfect every time..
It’s good stuff
friction shifters 🤷 (unindexed ofcourse)
A good way to solve the problem if the customer wants friction.

@@sometingwongwai9679 not the point of the video and you are wrong on the cable thing.
@@JaredMorris1 sounds like more whinging than fixing, they never caused me any issues
