I worked as a flagger for a construction company, and the more affluent the neighborhood, the more complaints we heard from the residents.
Home owners Complaing about us building someone else's home like theirs was put there with magic and no construction crew's. Funny how that happens..😅

I love the smell of fresh asphalt!!! My dad used to work for a paving company in the Salem Oregon area
My dad built about 50 homes on Mercer Island in the late 60's early 70's and they were about 80 to 100k, now the median home price is about 2.3 Million.
40yrs. in construction, and one thing I found out is that "these people" don't think.

I was involved with DBE/WBE subcontractors on all my projects. I found that different states apply the federal rules differently sometimes. You'll win or speak with a 'higher authority'....not just one level up.

Love doing asphalt! We call the smaller companies from around here “ gypsy crews” never know who will be with them from week to week. Easy money. But can get boring sometimes.

Mercer Island is a high price property area. Limited road access surrounded by Lake Washington.
The house Dom showed is a late 1950's early 1960's house. Problably was one of the first homes built on the island. House is most likely 10% of the market value, with the rest being the land itself.
The house probably has a negative value. The property would probably be worth 1.4 mil if the house wasn't there. Whoever buys this property will have to pay to have the house razed before he can start with his new house.
Don't forget to spray your bed down with diesel and spray your hooks your locks when I do asphalt I use the 7 axle dump truck I'll put 24 to 25 tons of asphalt in box I'd rather do millings I hate doing asphalt

Hey Dauminique, just found your channel several weeks ago and I’ve driven the same roads as you. Bellingham to Arlington more times I can count. I just finished watching a video of private jets in Van Nuys and saw a jet worth 60 million registered to a company on Mercer Island, Mercer Air LLC, taking off. Funny coincidence my next video was you on Mercer Island. If you are curious look for sk Airplanes channel and video title “VAN NUYS AIRPORT PRIVATE JETS | Plane landing and takeoff video”. The jet is at 17:06. A beautiful Gulfstream G650ER and that’s a level of money I can’t even dream of. You could win the lottery and couldn’t afford the maintenance on that thing. A lot of money on Mercer Island. Thanks so much for your videos.
People just need to realize that stuff needs to get done to build and replace roads etc. As for state government 🤦🏻♂️. As you might know by now the check engine light automatically turns off so that you don’t become complacent and forget so it will intermittently come back on so it still needs to be cleared.

Do you guys use "shakers" on your beds? You install it underneath, and you can turn it off & on from the cab. It can jar anything loose if it's stuck. Some of us here in PA used them for coal or stone. That thing was loud, but in the winter time, it was a God-send. I had a high plastic bed liner in mine, but I don't think it was meant for what I hauled in it.
My truck has an aluminum box, it would rip it up.
You have a plywood inside the body coming off for the last month or so
They won't be very happy if you get that rock and dirt in the mix.

I been there and other places in Washington I lived on Vashon Island for years I was born in Seattle and lived there all my life til I left in 1986
You said it is in the mid 60f ad 30+ to that temp that is what it's been in the east coast for 2 weeks now it has been hot hot hot , love shows, wayne.
That island is a pain in the ass to deal with. I worked for republic services and we had the Mercer Island contract for years and a lot of the driveways are glorified sidewalks. Houses down on the water have driveways covered by trees and get no sunshine so they get moss covered and in the winter when it’s raining and wet, they are slick as hell. We had little international rear loaders for the island and they would constantly get stuck.
When the contract was up a few years ago, we put in a bid that basically handed it to one of the other refuse companies and wished them good luck. lol not fun at all.

Apparently it doesn’t make any difference at all to the temperature of the asphalt whether it’s tarped or not 🤔

I live in Oklahoma and I can buy a house 2000+ sq feet and larger than that 1.3 million on a lake here for 150 thousand with a 3 car garage on 4 acres.
But I bet the local wages there are a lot less than the Seattle/King County. All the prices around Seattle are just ridiculous.

The longer anything takes means that the clerks are more important, and have more power. Nothing with government is easy or fast.

What is going rate for contractor trucking in Washington? Michigan we are at 125 to 150 per hr and varies just curious about the western states

I I live in Las Vegas I'm working tonight I just worked 10 hours on the day shift now I work 8 to 10 hours tonight plus all work 8 hours tomorrow during the day paving tonight will probably be millings on the 15 freeway I do a lot of paving up around very expensive mansions like the guy that owns the raiders up there by seven hills these Mansions are like 20 to 30 million dollars

What is the wheels right behind your front Axel's for?
The extra axel is pneumatically actuated to put wheels on ground. When fully loaded, extra wheels allow you to carry more weight and meet bridge law weight requirements.
