    Great video! 92! Nice. I’m most impressed with the 15-20 mph wheelie capability with just a throttle blip. Nice catch noticing the smoother idol. Mine is too. It just makes this bike even more fun!!

      SKDA did them for me. I like how you play a role in designing them and can proof them before they are printed. Be aware, removing the stock graphics is a pain in the you know what! 😂

    Hey another great video on the Kove 450 rally! How do you like that Chinese steering damper ? Do you find its somewhat on par with a Scott’s not? Thinking about getting one to try it out.

    • @DirtByk
      @DirtByk  5 месяцев назад

      I’m really impressed with it. I’ve run Scott’s and GPR. I like the Scott’s much better and I feel this replica is a good copy! It’s working great after almost 2k miles on the bike.

    Assuming you kept your 51t rear sprocket? Or did you go back to the stocker 49.

    • @DirtByk
      @DirtByk  5 месяцев назад +2

      I’ve kept the 51T. Unless I plan to do more of a long range trip with some highway sections, I’m going to stay geared up in the rear.

    My crate arrived today, just finished putting it together and having a short low-speed test around the neighborhood. Feels incredibly planted, plush and easy to handle compared to my KLX. The tall seat height is not bothering me so far, thankfully. 😅 The throttle snatchyness at low speed is a little annoying, tho. Is that different with the timing key?

    • @DirtByk
      @DirtByk  5 месяцев назад

      I think the throttle just takes some getting used to. I really don’t find it twitchy but have heard a lot of complaints about that. Maybe my Rekluse solves some of the on/off feeling

    • @inrptn
      @inrptn 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@DirtByk Had another little spin today and I'm getting used to it. Think it will get better with more engine break in, too. And yeah, I think the Rekluse probably does help a little. I'd consider trying one at some point. Compared to my KLX, the Kove needs more clutch finesse at low speed.

    • @Trailfocused
      @Trailfocused 5 месяцев назад

      That throttle feeling is normal on the bike out of the crate. Adjusting the throttle cable to take out some slack will help. I think a new map for the ECU and the timing key will make a huge difference. I have 600 miles of singletrack on mine and I am used to it by now.

    Does seem to rev faster, though my view is based only on having watched Kove videos. Any thought to getting the race ecu?

    • @DirtByk
      @DirtByk  5 месяцев назад +1

      It definitely revs faster! I’ll get the Race tune when I fit a straight through exhaust system. Right now, the tune seems spot on.

    The thing that worries me about it is the all the house brand components. Not having a supported suspension supplier is really concerning in the long game

    • @DirtByk
      @DirtByk  4 месяца назад

      They have all seemed well built and quality components. The suspension is almost a showa clone and any of suspension techs have done a decent job revalving. In the long run, a rider needs to learn to be their own mechanic. Not say this bike needs more work than usual, but issues will arise and knowing how to work on your bike can save your skin on a ride in the backcountry.

    I must digress, I've watched a few of your videos and it seems you ride primarily on flat ground. IMHO there are still better options, but the Kove 450 fits your style of riding. Which is completely different from what I'm used to riding in CO, WV, PA, and Western MD. Just because it would never work for me, I shouldn't condemn you for riding a Desert bike in the desert. At the same weight I think my DR650 with full Cogent suspension and many other mods might even be better...less expensive, huge parts availability, plush ride, tons of torque, and cockroach reliable. My 250XC works well in that type of terrain also, just can't go that far with a tiny tank.

    • @DirtByk
      @DirtByk  5 месяцев назад +1

      You haven’t watched many, or know what southern AZ is like, because it’s not flat. This video I meant to be on flat straightaways to test the top end. Thanks for watching.
