Could 'Endless Shrimp' Deal Cause Red Lobster's Bankruptcy?

- Red Lobster announced it is closing 99 restaurants across the U.S. Last summer, the company said the endless shrimp deal would become a permanent fixture on the menu. However, way more customers took advantage of the deal than expected, which triggered an $11 million loss. When Inside Edition’s Les Trent ordered shrimp at a New York City Red Lobster, he found the ultimate endless shrimp deal was not being offered. Turns out, the all-you-can-eat shrimp deal is now only offered on Mondays.
Why didn't they just shut down the promotion before it became a $11,000,000 loss? The whole promotions/accounting team should be fired.
Reason for promotion is lack of sales, last ditch effort
@@xavierb9061yea even though the endless shrimp was not the underlying reason, they were already a sinking ship and the promotion just bled them dry
This is why olive garden does the never ending pasta a few times a year
It wasn’t the reason lol they were going bankrupt regardless 😂
The shrimp deal being the cause is just corporate propaganda, considering they actually went bankrupt because a private equity firm acquired the chain, saddled it with debt, and stripped it for parts financially

Red Lobster's corporate overlords have been sending that business to the bottom of the sea for the at least the last decade. The AYCE Shrimp ploy was a dumb plan that backfired on them.
Clout chasers ruin everything
People who want attention doing nothing worth watching.
People from 50 years ago would've done the same thing.
Why not just do buy 1 get 1 free deals? Endless / all you can eat is insanity if your customer is American.
Yep. In most countries they eat to survive, in America they survive to eat.
Because some people want the AYCE option? Ever heard of a buffet? If you want to order food a la carte there's plenty restaurants for that as well.
They made a big mistake for making this deal happened. Big mistake i told you. Besides I don't eat 🍤
This is why America's population is 60% overweight.
Hey quit generalizing I live in the usa and i don’t do that im on a strict portion control diet so don’t say only in the usa we live 2 eat cause some people r not like that in fact look at people in la they r toothpicks and that’s where I’m trying 2 get 2
Restaurant owners don’t know American appetite.
Especially after certain ones dumping their garbage into the sea.
Gluttony
Red lobster is an American restaurant so I'm pretty sure they do but didn't think things through. I don't think it's the owner of the restaurant but marketing that comes up with ideas like this to increase traffic to the restaurants
To be fair, food waste is still a problem in this country so I don't blame them for limiting food so that it doesn't get wasted but this whole "endless shrimp" idea is stupid lmao
funny as its an American that started Red Lobsters . So what you got now ?
It’s common sense.
You’re basically giving away free food in exchange for a low price, hence the reason why they’re losing money.
I’m surprised how they didn’t see that.
I can guarantee you there were bags inside purses.

Bro if 5 peices of bottom feeders is 20 bucks , and it's 20 bucks for all you can eat bottom feeders do you think people will still eat only 5 of them only ? Be foreal now bro if you don't like deals , than your mind is dumb,
I’m actually surprised a lot of them didn’t close sooner. I always joked they seemed like the Olive Garden of seafood 😅
I got a lobster once and it was complete mush.
What do you mean? Olive Garden is a successful high-end Italian restaurant.
Probably cause there owed by the same parent company or used to be my bad
@@BionicPig95lol high end 😂😂😂 what a brokie

Thai owned and managed company. They were incompetent.
@@barrieracc7634 Darden was probably the best owner of the company, but they too ran it into the ground which resulted in it being owned by the Thai company now.

Red Lobster in Tuscaloosa Alabama has been going down hill for years now. I used to love dining there but blah was how I felt the last time we went and that was 10 years ago
I'm also from Tuscaloosa and it was only three people working their the last time I went. A major red flag.
Maybe you guys should exchange socials 🤔
Way to go people just because you can doesn't mean you should!

You don’t offer a deal then get mad when ppl show up for it.
Gluttony is such an embarrassing thing to brag about.
do half of or buy one get one free, or allow all you can eat within a short time limit, there were 1000 ways a company could have rolled this out and made millions. Also leave it to social media to ruin everything.
Gluttony is disgusting. Red lobster was never a good restaurant if they had to bribe idjiits to stuff themselves until they barf. Gross 😝🤢
I was stationed at Ft Bragg 4 decades ago, and the red lobster in Fayetteville had all you can eat snow crab legs. Went there once a month if i could. Don't know if it's still there. Fond memories.
Guess Red Lobster didn't see that Simpsons episode where Homer ate at the Sea Captain's all you can eat seafood restaurant.
Wow that was stupid
Notorious B.O.B IN THE thumbnail 😂
Comment of the day 🏆
Their problems started way before endless shrimp
Everything is insanely expensive. My favorite dish there has gone up $7 in the past few years.
Someone always kills it for every body.
They should have made it only breaded shrimp. Fills you up faster
then nobody would order it.
Red Lobster:"All you can eat shrimp."
Americans:"Challenge accepted."
If Homer was there... Well, let's hope there aren’t any plastic lobsters.
Or a steam tray
If goku was there
All you can eat means ALL YOU CAN EAT this reminds me of the simpsons episode when Homer ate all those shrimp and they kicked him out 😂
So the Lobsters wanted a raise?
That’s upsetting that the internet has yet again ruined another thing for everyone else
That’s not what happened though hahah
The shrimp deal being the cause is just corporate propaganda, considering they actually went bankrupt because a private equity firm acquired the chain, saddled it with debt, and stripped it for parts financially
Yes, it happened to Cooky steak and shrimp house on Long Island
I love olive garden and red lobster
they used to be owned by the same company
You're what they call a basic B
Simple fix the endless shrimp should only be a $25 add on for a regular entree .
Who coulda possibly guessed that allowing indefinite amounts of food would lead to indefinite losses
I stopped going to red lobster after i noticed that the chef stopped removing the "poop" sack from the shrimp. I kept tasting something that resembled soil.... i disecected like maybe 8 peices of shrimp on my plate, and saw that it was shimp poo that was still inside the shrimp.
I don’t even like shrimp.
Me too plus every time I eat I have trouble breathing turns out I was allergic to shrimp.
People bragging about their gluttony is crazy to me.
They've been doing endless shrimp for decades. Thats not the reason. The exorbitant salaries of the CEOs is the reason. But they can never take the blame for anything.
Whoever the executive that approved that should be fired.
Doctor: "Your cholesterol so high. Don't tell me; endless shrimp."😅
As usual the employees pay for corporate's mistakes...
The European mind cannot comprehend this
You did this to yourself
The _high cholesterol_ in America is crazy
I went for endless shrimp last year. It was abhorrent. Idk where they get their shrimp, but much of it was congealed and disgusting. 🤮
🤣 11 Mil loss. Golden gate Cap is worth 19 Bil. Red lobster was going down the drain. They just seized the opportunity to sink it. Even Social media promoted it with “i ate x 🦐 “
Someone tell B.O.B. he made the thumbnail!! 🤙
I used to work there 2022-2023 and they told us not to advertise endless, only respond if they ask about it LOL
Anyone else getting flashbacks of Homer Simpson in court over the all you can eat seafood? Then a bunch of guys haul in bags of santa letters that amounted to what he ate 😂
yall eating that mystery shrimp public schools got back in the day lmaoooooo
Man I love shrimp but red lobster is mid
*That man ate all our shrimp, and three plastic lobsters!*
Can we give a shout-out to all the Red Lobster toilets? You know that 50 low quality shrimp was disatrous on there digestive systems😂
I don't understand why did they kept going with the deal until closing down.
If Andre the Giant was still alive, he would've eaten so much shrimp at Red Lobster that the restaurant would run out of shrimp
This is better compared to other restaurants throwing more than 500 million dollars in fresh foods straight to the trash.
Red lobster founder/owner tweaking with that business offer 😂
this is like people showing zombie glitches then they get patched lol
“I got 51 symptoms from food poisoning”
Did they not learn from the 90's endless crab debacle??
I like eating shrimp but no way I will eat 30-60 shrimps in one night. Plus Red Lobster is low class
Shrimp: I knew this was going to happen
Customers eat like field hands, hang a jacket on a chair, leave, come back and eat like field hands.
It sold to private equity that sold all its restaurants and leased them back to Red Lobster. Another private equity nightmare like toys r us.
They didn't learn from the endless crab legs fiasco from 20 years ago.
Shrimp boat shrimp boat. Where the hell is my shrimp boat!
gluttony at its finest
Lets be clear, while they want you to believe that their generousity caused the problems (all you can eat shrimp) it was actually their high prices and low standards that hurt them. For a main dish and a coffee it costs $60 per person in Canada and for the last year or so they no longer include a salad, which is now offered for an additional $6. That means after one person spends $60 plus on a meal they can still leave hungry. So why would I ever go back to Red Lobster when I can have two good meals somewhere else for the same price? They priced themselves out of the market.
Too bad I have a seafood allergy 😢
Does anybody else get queasy at the sight of gluttony. I cant stand it
How can someone eat 55 shrimps in one setting?!
To the general public, all you can eat, is a dare.
I'm sure there's more than just Endless Shrimp that is contributing to Red Lobster's bankruptcy.
Telling broke people endless shrimp deal got them in the doors and now drove you to shut down some restaurants. Fire the person who came up with that dumb idea.
In Canada Red Lobster’s endless shrimp deal is 22 dollars on Monday and 27 dollars anyday of the week
In America you can get 5 dookie eating shrimps for 20 bucks
This is why restaurants can't do the endless food gimmick. Sales will drop.
All you can eat in America?? Who’s the mf at corporate that said this was a good idea
They should have offered the promotion for about one month during the entire year, or offer it just on one particular day in the middle of the week
One where I live isn't closin', Laredo, Texas
First time I ordered online and when I went to pick up, store was taped up with yellow tape from food inspectors.
2nd time I ordered, I opened up my food once I got home and had a bug just crawling on my lobster.
Never again going to this nasty place
I wonder how many Rabbis have done this challenge 🤔
It's a bit misleading. The endless shrimp wasn't the only reason or even the main reason. The company was struggling already.
They just filed 😮
Commercial: Endless shrimp.
Reality: "I'll be back in two hours to check on you..."
It would be common sense to know that if you’re down even 1 million maybe not continue doing that deal.
The only thing more disgusting is saying "shrimps" in a sentence.
I feel sorry for their toilets
I have a teenager living with me for a little while and it's challenging making sure he's fed while also teaching him not to eat for eating sake. It doesn't help that he watches an anime that glorifies gluttony.
I love their popcorn shrimp, but one order of it comes with two sides, and that's more than enough for me. I'm always full, so there's no way I could pack down more than one serving. Gluttony is never good.
Here in Canada, we can only dream of having this kinda shrimp deals for our Red Lobsters location.
"How many shrimps do you have to eat, before you make your skin turn pink"
Wonder if majority of those customers paid with EBT Card
Why didn’t they just stop the deal? Lmfao
Tom Segura is gonna get fat again if he keeps doing this challenge 😂
ThAtS 31 pLaTeS do y’all know what ALL YOU CAN EAT MEANS?
When I go to an all you can eat sushi place, I love the look of the chefs when I tell them I want 10 orders of salmon, red snapper and yellow tail sashimi as a starter for myself. I’m sure the owner wouldn’t be happy if he saw me eat roughly $150 worth of fish (about $5-$6 per order) as a start 😅
No it’s not the shrimp have you ever walked into a red lobster?
