Yes ooo!!! We are back with another episode of Food Arena with Warripikin. And as usual na, Warripikin with his love for food has kicked off his food eating adventure with a visit a Moimoi seller who makes a deliciously amazing Moimoi (moin moin), also called Beans Cake.
Warripikin met with the moimoi seller whose seller whose name is Balikis Ajibola, and they both made the journey really interesting to watch. Balikis who is camera shy, did help us through the process and Warripikin didn’t leave any stone unturned on the necessary questions to ask so as for you to understand how the cooking is done, and the reason for certain actions in the process of preparation.
Balikis started by peeling the beans, then moved on to rinsing it so as to separate the peeled beans and its shaft. This took a long time as it is necessary to rinse it till it gets cleaned up and both the shaft and the beans go their separate ways.
P.S: If you concerned about the amount of time needed for the beans to get rinse till clean, Balikis mention that there is no limited time for that, but to make sure the beans is sparkling clean.
They moved on to where it is going to be grinded and surprisingly, Warripikin carried the big plastic on his head…lol!!! After the beans is been grinded, Balikis took us to her selling spot where she also wraps the mixture into sizes with leaves and small sized plastic.
This mixture varies in prices considering the sizes, the egg or fish to be added as a marketing strategy to sell more according to the buyer’s preferred choice.
We had the opportunity to meet with her mum who is around the age of 80 as she joined in during the wrapping of the moimoi in reparation to get it cooked. Warripikin was already salivating before the moimoi got ready and that was quenched when he got himself bread to eat with the moimoi and as usual, the moimoi didn’t pass him by.
What do you think? Gist us...

BattaBox is the most exciting Nigerian News & Entertainment Video channel based in Lagos. We are the fact behind Nigerian Movies fiction, Nollywood in real-life with a dash of Yoruba Movie Magic - but none of our videos are made-up like Nollywood - they are all true stories!

MOI MOI...one of the reasons I love my country....in my home going to Nigerian restaurants is the best day....ever, despite the reason that my wife is American...she loves Naija food.... a lot
I am loving these series! Keep it up BattaBox!
How interesting this is to watch. Looks very tasty. Love Nigeria and the food and the people are just lovely too.
Oje moi moi tewe tewe!!!The leaf type is much better it adds its flavor to the moimoi especially when its hot and fresh from the pot.And the leaf folding is definitely a cool technique that takes time to master. I remember as a toddler of 5 years old looking at my Mom in awe as she folded and placed the moimoi artistically inside the pot full of twigs so as to ensure none of them unravel and pour :D good times!
Definitely!
In Brazil we usually make them by using grinded beans with onion as well as the videos shows, but adding dry shrimp and palm oil. After mixing the "dough", then we wrap the mixture into banana tree leaves in order to boil like the Nigerian People do until these days. It's Amazing to know that the slaves in the past have left a huge legacy to the brazilian culture and religiosity.. By the way, we call moi moi in Brazil "Abará" (maybe the spelling would be Agbara or something perhaps due to FON Influence i'm not sure, sorry) or Olele(Alele maybe)....
Amazing and thanks for explaining
I no understand weitin *slave* dey do for ur comment... Abeg,, put more light..
@@joyjesse3397 he is from brazil. They have similar traditions to yorubas because of slavery. There is no light
Because we are all family

Thank God they have cut down on the usage of plastic. We should all try using leaves because of the cancer causing chemicals in plastics.
I love how in the middle of working Sister straps the baby on and keeps working.....Black Girl Magic.
Stephanie I know right? My Mom used to do this to me and my brother as she did her house work.
nice you could just put the time stamp 13:00 for those reading your comment
That is a bad habit, but in her defense, she used her left hand which only touches the leaf, but the main food she handled with her right hand.

Just like us Mexicans we eat tamales in bread called talera or bolillo so it’s a “torta de tamale” so good! My fav are the green or mole ones! 😋
The way he eats makes everything look tasty. Haha Much love from the UK.
This is the business I plan doing at home soon
👍🏿 how’s the business going ?
i just found your channel and I love it. I like it so much when you show the people walking by. I'm Haitian and live in the belly of the beast - which is the US. Your videos make me miss my people because I am surrounded by Caucazoids here.
You eat better than we eat here because all our food here is fake (GMO) foods and many many many people are sick always. Visit here for a short time if you must but don't stay. They kill and oppress Black people (males mostly) here and the orange banana we have for President is an open racist.......I love when you help the women. They are brilliant and so beautiful....Merci!
Wow, so the moi moi is basically steamed. Also, like Chinese dumplings.
Those are Nigerian tamales😅😅
JR Perez .. Not really. An Igbo ( Nigeria) food called Epiti, made of corn paste is.
i like this Batta box guy......hahahaha
I love moi moi in the leaf but I like mine firmer than the one Warri Pikin is eating with bread.
I need to try it with bread
Love Batta Box
Magguy you should marry it....
The baby is so look cute!!!!!
Im hungry ooo
Warri Pikin is the man
Nice!
We use black eyed beans to makes moi-moi. We don't call moi-moi beancake. We call akara, beancake

They are Nigerian tamales , or pasteles , this food exist in alot of cultures but the starch used may be different from Beans , instead corn , yuca , cassava , etc..
