After touring Igbo - Ora and speaking to parents of twins and some of the twins themselves as seen in our last two videos, Odunayo shows us how to prepare Ilasa and what ingredients are used to cook it, with the help of mama - our chef for the day.
"Once you cook and eat Ilasa, you will have twins," says one woman
According to our research, the indegenes have claimed that the multiple births could be related to the eating habits of the women and men in Igbo - Ora which is their local delicacy Ilasa (okro leaves) soup with Amala (yam flour) or Eba.
"We'll use pepper, melon, potassium, locust beans etc to cook Ilasa," says mama
Igbo Ora in Oyo state is a town where there are unusually large number of twin births in Nigeria, which have earned the town the nickname Twin Capital of the World.

yes she is free spirit. love it 👌
I love her too. I say Amen to your prayer.
Yes! Odun is the best!
She is my one of my best in battabox presenter
she is too free hearted
but why people want twins, may I ask? Yes it's lovely to have two in one go, and if it happens it's really a cute thing. But a pregnancy with twins is harder. Bigger belly, more energy requirements from the mother, and having two in there puts them both at a slightly higher risk. Single babies are born at 40 weeks of pregnancy, but twin pregnancies at 35-36 weeks.
i laughed so hard at her reaction when she said we don't wash the leave lol
nineties Baby me too😂😂😂
She is correct ..leaf vegies should be wash before cutting..
It will loss their nutricious values ..if we wash them after cutting..
U shld wash before cutting😊😊
Me too. Mama said its not dirty. Really? Those leaves were picked straight from the farm. Lol.
The heat will kill any bacteria even on meat...no need to wash
nineties Baby me too! Love the way she looked to the camera “like whaaat”
I’ll take two bowls please lol 😊

changmin oppa we help the elderly a lot. We don't just sit and watch..
I've always wondered what made my grandma to have three sets of twins, now I know it's in the soup! LOL!
I love Odun!!! She is a well balanced girl, very professional and thorough with her job, but at the same time a cool down home girl...I loved how she accompanied Mama to the market, helped her pick the ingredients, carried the bag(s), helped with the cooking and kicked her shoes off and ate with Mama and the family...I hope and pray that God blesses Odun and her husband with twins, triplets or even quadruplets!!! This 3part series has really been my favorite, more NATIVE videos please...
She has home training!

Nigerians are one of my favorite people, instantly when I see them I know they mean well. Can't wait to visit and thank you for sharing your culture.
Every culture is so beautiful I wish I can go around the world preaching the gospel fellowship with all these beautiful people and lastly eating there good food 😋
Most of the ingredients in the soup are very healthy. I loved how there was no onga or maggi cubes involved in the preparation. Makes the food more authentic
I absolutely love Odun's reporting. What a nice young lady she is. I see a very bright future for her! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for watching ..hope you have shared the video with your friends o
BattaBox Thanks for sharing the video. Am expecting your twins ooo. pls don't for to send me the information because i want twins too

Native segment of battabox is the best
My mom is a twin , I hope one day to carry my own twins ♥️
Did u carry your twins yet
Ilasa should be made into tablets and sold globally.
Thats a good idea o, the factory should be in Igbo ora
You guys seriously think Food causes it lol no wonder we are facing a recession.
+Kan Abu Experiment has to be done. You take ILASA to a community in Canada to confirm it's responsible for twins. 1000 Canadian women will eat ilasa for 6months.
+BattaBox To sell ILASA herbs at wholefoods/Walmart, an experiment has to be done to confirm Ilasa is what is making them conceive twins.
+BattaBox Odúnayò has not giving birth to twins. She ate Ilasa on camera for BattaBox.
White Kali, kirai kolambu, apram fish...
I also believe that yam can really make people fertile. I've introduced it to two of my friends AA and WA and both have two kids each. Considering how long they've been looking for a child.
Wow! Please give us the breakdown of what they ate
Are Ilasa leaves the same as okra leaves?
@@amarachiossai4415 yes
@@jimmysteeve7702 thanks
How did they consume it, please help
I will visit there next time I'm in Nigeria. Nigerian culture has come a long way. Twins are not considered an abomination anymore...Good video.
The killing twins was only prevalent in Calabar, a small portion of Nigeria. It was was not something that was done in the whole of Nigeria.
Sure!
Double O. O. ,I pray God bless me with twins babys
Twins are basically worshiped in Yoruba land. They were never killed.
@@AdesewaAdebiyi Yep! I remember learning the oriki(praise) for twins in secondary school. And for idowus - the third child if there are triplets
This lady looks much prettier in this video than the other videos, it's seems their ministry is growing , am happy for them and wish them better days ahead .
What happens to men who eat ILASA soup?
It's similar to Callaloo here in Trinidad, but we use Dasheen Bush leaves or Bhagi as it's known as well... Very delicious... It looks good enjoy
love it! no internet lifestyle in that village natural and back to basics
Just love it when you leave Lagos and go to a place with real local flavor. Such a down to earth place that people from everywhere can relate to.
You have the nicest job I would love to be there eating to get twins Love Nigerians very hard working people most of very smart it make me very proud to be an African from Eritrea / Atlanta GA peace to all Africans and the world Keep the good work
see odun bribing the twins o😃...OMG odunayo's face when mama say she ain't washing the leaves got me laughing soo bad😆... now I want to eat ilasa o... nice one I really enjoyed it.
Same, it was funny it is crazy though how she refused to wash the leaves the heat kills most germs but still the dirt is disgusting.
Cooper I know right but I'm washing mine when I'm gonna cook it...
+Tosh Leshy-Roh You need only water from the village to prepare Illasa else the soup won't work. That is what the elder woman said when the presenter asked her if she can prepare it at home.
Jeri Pk hahaha 😃😃 all I need is the leave to confirm that...thats very funny tho... I hope it's not true o...
😁😁😁
I love how people would look at this and say they still living in the stone ages. These people are doing better than most of us here in America. I wish I knew that way of life. But honestly I couldn't go there because the bugs are scary looking and I have a phobia
not alat of bugs
The bugs are not everywhere though.
I invite u girl, come over you will be glad you did, nothing to fear about
That’s not all of Nigeria, this is only the village
Bugs are everywhere I cant escape them. I just want to travel places that are cold.
I think that is potassium nitrate. It is used for softening food like beans
Also make soup like okra, ewedu and ilasa to draw well
I love Nigerian food 🍲 love from Namibia

There is also special yam as well, if you eat the yam with the okra leave soup, twins ofcourse, we got twins in my family with people eating yams. yoruba are know for having twin, genetic or yams or soups who knows
Please l want to have twins how would l get that yam.
@@faisalalwadai6622 does she need to eat before and stop after when pregnant?
My family are Jamaican and eat tons of yam and yes twins run in our family too.
I had my first sons r.i.p. with out none my sons mother and my self have twins run in our familys mine skiped a generation with me. Lol i want another set
Twins come for God
The woman is right, you don't wash after slicing the leaves ,you wash before slicing, otherwise the nutrients will be washed away.
Wow! There is no artificial way to give birth to twins. It is in the genes. They just want to cook and eat. I am yoruba and I have eaten it a lot. I don't have twins o my sister. My father's side have the genes for twins but not my mom's.
Maybe you are washing your ilasa? Mama said you shouldn't wash it. LOL!
Hahhahahhah don't wash ur leaves. Follow mama's order. We have been doing it wrong. That broom at 6:31 tho😁😁
Odun, please invite us for the baby shower and naming ceremony of the twins oh...ejo. Hopefully, they will serve Ilasa soup at the event.
I love Odunayo, she is so natural and really makes you feel like you are back home.
That's correct. Igboora is known for such blessing. My grandparents had twins, my parents did and I'm having mine soon. It's God's blessing, the water, yam and ilasa soup. Thanks for this video.
She didn't indicate what part of Nigeria is Igbo-ora for people who don't know. Where is that please?
Love this show! It is such a great way to do some quick arm chair traveling.
Lol ,"arm chair travelling" is a 1st for me. I've only ever heard of arm chair critics.

Can you list the ingredients of the recipe? what would be the american names for some of the items?
It doesn't grow in usa
Content plse
I live in USA and have been studying for years on how to make this soup
lol @ 6:07....they should have washed it before cutting it so it wont loose it's flavor and nutrient
Oh darn, it's the waters of Igbo ora And the ingredients from the land combined that give the powers of the twins! I guess I will have to visit one day.....until then I will be making this at home!
I pray God bless me with twins babys
I found a PDF on a study of what's in that water. Not an easy read, but interesting.
Until they import the water in bottles and gallons
It is the yam. Igbo ora yam. Check Guinness book of records. They have the highest number of twins. Maybe the illasa helps too.
It’s genetics, not what you eat. They have the highest number of twins because everyone is related.
Holy smokes, never knew kunun was potassium, really do learn something new everyday. Reminds me of how my grandma cooked when i was young
I am from the Caribbean and would love to try this. I didnt know yhat people eat okra leaves. I been missing out! Lol, could someone please put up the recipe so that I can understand all the ingredients. I got the okra leaves, pepper (is it hot pepper ), water and the rest is difficult.
What potassium was she talking about? The mineral? And what was the other ingredient?
Wow, this took me way back. Reminds me of how we cook in da villa
6:31 I took to my heels🤣🤣🤣. That broom!!! Lord! No one saw that? Reminds me of one we used to sweep our...kai! Can't even voice it. Mk we enjoy d soup
I'm hungry now that looked so nice at the end when it was done
Did you give it a try?
I wish I had someone to make this for me & my hubby. Blessings 🌼
Odun you should be expecting double twins by now.
It is God who give children both twins and singles,it is not because of what you eat. Anyone who is born on earth is already destined with certain abilities to achieve what they have been created by God to achieve in life, but people don't understand that everything happening is God's program but instead of them to give glory to the God of heaven who is the creator of every living and non living things and the giver of children, they equate it to what they are eating,I am sure it's not every family in that community has twins, and if eating those food can give twins, why is it then that everyone there and around their community doesn't have twins? And if it is true then it means that it is food now that is giving children and not God anymore. Before you were born,God has giving you certain abilities of what you can do and what you cannot do and you can't cross that boundary, if you are not created and destined by God to give birth to twins,no matter what you eat or do you won't give birth to twins and if you force it,it may result to death or in a serious damage because the hand of God is not there and he didn't mould you for that purpose. I just wish people will understand these simple principles which will help them live a simple life without stress. You are created with certain abilities to achieve certain things, not all things because no human being can achieve everything in this life.

She said you much use the water from that land. Meaning one has to be there.
lmao at the no washing the greens because of supposed lost nutrients. omg
The mamma was right. The leaves have microbes that strengthen the immune system. Super clean is very bad for the immune system. That's why food allergies are on the rise in the West. I wonder how the mamma knew it.
Please let this ilasa leave is it okro leave

Please, what is the importance of the potash, that is, the first thing she added. I feel it's not healthy, especially in that quantity. Simply, can I cook without the potash? Thanks for responding. Can I also add vegetables to it, like Ugwu or Oziza or even bitter leaf, that is when cooking it my igbo style, and not really with stew.
