Technically, it was not yet a "Mercury" Comet. The Comet was originally to be sold as an Edsel, but when the full-size Edsel went out of production, it was sold as its own make through 1961. Note the announcer said "your Mercury-Comet dealer"...the Mercury Comet was introduced for 1962 as was the short-lived intermediate Mercury Meteor...
