At the end of this clip is the sculpture "Mercury 1960," commissioned by Ford Motor Company and created by the renowned sculptor Marshall Fredericks. It was cast in Denmark of solid nickel and mounted on a pedestal of Belgian marble. To the best of my knowledge Ford still has it in its permanent fine art collection.
In 1961, the full-size Mercury became a thinly disguised clone of the big Ford (on the orders of Robert McNamara). However, the 1960 full-size Mercury had different engineering altogether.
I absolutely enjoy old car commercials This one, however, is so bad, I am amazed it got green lighted by any advertising exec, not plastered on martinis... Which I suppose is why it made it to T.V. -A cringeworthy horrible commercial.
@@unitedcity_mc4421 Haha- sorta like the American Indian having a sense of humor while non-Native Indians painted themselves red to play the parts in movies instead just hiring the actual ones?

Those "Road Tuned Wheels" did it for me! Where can I get one!
Would LOVE to have that great old Merc for my daily driver - love it!
The car is driving itself!
