You haven't won me over but thanks because it was interesting! I've been reading 'A Secret Sisterhood' Emily Midorikawa and Emma Claire Sweeney - about literary friendships one of the pairings is Mary Taylor and Charlotte Brontë which was an interesting chapter. She was at school with Charlotte and in various European countries when Charlotte and Emily were in Belgium she then went to New Zealand and finally wrote a novel of her own. 'Miss Miles' which I now want to read.
Fair enough. :) I read Miss Miles two years ago for Victober and really enjoyed it. She definitely has her own style of writing. It felt more like an American voice to me than a Victorian voice. Think Alcott or Sedgwick in tone. She had some serious plot holes and it’s not a traditionally “happy” ending but I really enjoyed it.
