Imagine spending 20 years isolated in a small room typing on a fake computer, drinking beer and wine, injecting yourself with strange syringes, entertaining yourself with whatever items and debris you find and randomly get sent to a train

imagine the amount of trauma he goes through in this place, He has to remember everything he went through in the black Mesa incident, He will literally break if he stopped for a second to process what just happened to him
Yeah.. and then this little touch when he smoothly grabbed floating crowbar behind him It is just like.. at least he set this gnome free from where they both stucked
I think Stasis basically freezes time for you. At least I hope so. The end of Half-Life and the beginning of Half-Life 2 felt like it just continued right after the other. Eli even mentions Gordon hasn't changed one iota. I figure that even signals in the brain are stuck in place, so being in stasis for 1 minute or 50 years would seem like the blink of an eye...if it's even perceived at all.
This is what I always imagined. I assumed that stasis as they mentioned was like being comatose and in the perspective of Gordon 20 years passed in about a minute and then the G-Man woke him up
On Earth: **the planet being ravaged by portal storms, all nations crushed by the Universal Union in 7 hours, humanity subjugated into slavery, billions of deaths worldwide** Meanwhile, Gordon in stasis:
I agree. I doubt the G-Man would give Freeman more than 5 minutes to actually contemplate the events at Black Mesa, instead preferring to immediately throw him into City 17. That said, I feel like he would still give sometime for Freeman to sleep, as he states, no one is more deserving of rest than him.
i think of it as gordan, alone in his HEV suit, no guns or anything, in a hotel. no free WIFI, free pool, free breakfast every morning. he gets out of stasis and absolutely hates waffles, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and orange juice
I always imagined that the stasis was essentially instant. I imagined that Gordon stepped into the portal and then in his perspective about a minute later the G-Man comes in and starts HL2.
As funny as this was, it was also really endearing and surprisingly emotional (though VR helps with that aspect a lot, it lets you act out everything). I really do wish we could explore Gordon more as a character. Obviously he's mute and essentially characterless because he's the stand-in for the player, but as the person who's been through the most during the events of Half-Life, especially as the one who ultimately caused them, it would be so cool to see a movie or show that expands on him before, during, and after the game.
Gordon most likely was asleep / not conscious while in stasis. From the end of half life 1 to half life 2 was probably only a matter of seconds / minutes for Gordon. That’s why gman said “I will see you up ahead” because from Gordon’s perspective he knew it would be almost instant for gordon
How I see stasis is that gman places you in a black void that is unaffected by time Once you enter time can skip, rewind or pause for eternity, but for the people inside it's like absolutely no time has happened While everyone else has aged on the outside, for gordon it's been mere seconds since he entered, and was released Gman can also meet you at any point in your life and place you into the void, despite entire events occurring, he can make a deal with you, and change the future, as what he did with alyx Meanwhile for people like shephard hes been in there ever since, and is continuing to be in there, but once activated, itll feel like nothing happened
Actually this is a good video you are acting very good you act like Gordon us bored of this so he just does some crap this video gives me tones of imagination for what would happen if I get stuck in this place. Thank you! EDIT: stumbled across this video and decided to read my comment again, had pretty crappy grammar in the past lol.
I feel like Gordon wouldn't have any guns, the gman took those away shortly before offering him that... job. I'd imagine he'd still be in the HEV suit, and have the crowbar.
If Gordon really did spend 20 years in stasis he would probably stop being a maniac, however that didn't happen so he probably just teleported to the future.
Imagine being held in this state.Without nearly no nteractions no stimulus at all. Everyday is the same. I think no one would be able to keep his mind sane after some time. But without no stimulus from the outside world, the only place where you could pay attention to,is inside. Our lives are full of happenings, moments and we are kind of overwhelmed. Most of us are deaf to the inner voice we have, and live their lifes to the end without really experienceing what its really like. But in this state, you would be forced to listen inside. I wonder what is our inner voice is like and what would say....
Imagine being stuck in this limbo dimension and you have a computer that'll run your favorite FPS game, but you have to use a mouse instead of a trackball. 2:42 Odd that a right-hander would use a syringe left-handed like that. Columbo pointed that out (except it was the other way around).

The most horrifying part is realizing that he cannot even wipe himself, while gman is logging in to play skyrim for the hundredth time. He's probably also questioning how gman appears in the side of his eyeball like that every time, too.
