David Lee Roth was one of the all time on stage persona in his hay day Version 2. Sammy Hagar Alex Van Halen Eddie Van Halen Michael Anthony As you can tell only one change occurred but it was a doozy. What the band lost in showmanship Hagar made up for with one of the best voices in rock. I'd recommend a comparison video. Jump was a perfect platform to start, you immediately caught Diamond Dave at his peak in a song with a strong positive message. I recommend Dreams. Same vibe but with Sammy Hagar's smooth vocals taking you on a journey.
There was a third version as well and technically a fourth. Sammy Hagar got replaced by Gary Cherone and they did an album together and then Anthony got replaced by Eddie's son Wolfgang. That's another artist you need to check out as well Eddie's son Wolfgang has his own stuff out now and he's fantastic!

When the band got together in Pasadena, Cali in the 1970's, the singer David Lee Roth joined the brothers' band around 1973, which went by various names... Roth recognized that the young Eddie Van Halen was a phenomenal guitar player, so he suggested the name Van Halen for the band... it was a marquee name that would draw people to come & see Eddie play live... Also, David Lee Roth wasn't the best singer live, but he came from rich parents and provided the band w/ rehearsal space and organized the visuals of their stage shows. Michael Anthony (bass) joined around 1974 and also did backup vocals. By the time Eddie Van Halen turned 21 and Van Halen could play the bars & clubs of L.A. and the band was hot 🔥by 1976. Gene Simmons of Kiss offered to help Van Halen record demos, but couldn't find a record label to sign them. Van Halen was finally signed in 1977, and the first Van Halen album in 1978 turned the rock world on its head w/ Eddie Van Halen's guitar skills and David Lee Roth's acrobatic moves on stage - that record sold 10 million copies in the US. For some 80s rock i recommend Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer Europe - Final Countdown There is a very high likelyhood of you having heard these songs since they are some of the most well known rock songs of history but regardless would like to see your opinion on them even if you have heard them. Especially Bon Jovi since they have been my favorite band for the last 15 years and one of the best birthday presents i ever got was when my mom got their 30 year anniversary best hits cd and it was the 2 cd deluxe edition 🥳🥳🥳 edit: OMG the splits reaction in the end😂
all im sayin is this band has been one of the top rock bands for (almost) the last 50 years. mostly thanks to the innovative guitar/keyboards of the late great eddie van halen. yes, u can find plenty of music to enjoy and yes they have a following... huge... orange juice & vodka following.
The best show I ever saw was Van Halen, and it wasn't because of the concert, just one part of it. Eddie and David were the only ones on stage. They had their own "dueling banjos" type of competition. Eddie would play some outrageous rift on the guitar and then David would top it vocally, then back to Eddie to up the ante, and then David topped him again, and this went on for 5 -10 minutes it was pure magic. There was no symphony, no opera, no performance that I have ever seen and heard that has ever compared since that night in 1982. And I didn't even want to go to the concert, I wasn't a huge Van Halen fan at all at the time, but my girlfriend at the time made me, and I am so thankful she did for that 10 minutes of musical perfection.
You need to listen to both the early Van Halen and the later one with Sammy Hagar as lead vocals and Eddie Van Halen Eruption guitar solo from their without a net tour. It will blow your mind!
