I have been using this camera as a companion camera for years. Still awesome after all these years. It takes great pictures in low light, great pics wide open during the day, and the selfie ability is awesome....
Funny I literally just bought this yesterday as a demo model in a big electronics store here in Holland (equivalent to Best Buy) for €177 ($202). And it had just a ding on the flash and the box has been opened. Still came with 2yr warranty etc etc.. I could not believe it and jumped on that price! I'm looking forward to making it my go-to point and shoot!

@@ofikbenmetmoker7287 ben een paar weken terug naar het Rijksmuseum geweest, tentoonstelling van Vincent Mentzel zijn werk. Ik heb daar voor de grap foto's genomen met deze Sony en mijn smartphone (Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, met de op 2 na hoogste dxomark rating), speciaal met het doel om ze te vergelijken.. mijn conclusie is dat de processing van mijn smartphone dusdanig goed is, dat deze out of the box in 90% van de gevallen betere foto's maakt dan de Sony. Simpelweg omdat deze default HDR heeft en AI bewerking. De camera heeft WiFi dus ja je kan deze overzetten. Video heb ik tot op heden nog niet gemaakt. Mijn conclusie is dat mijn 2021 top of the line smartphone minimaal even goede foto's maakt (en soms beter) dan een 8 jaar oude dedicated point and shoot.
Was looking at the rx100 and this helped! One thing as a fix for the record button that i have done on my other sony is a little rubber cabinet stopper on the button. it adds just enough for you to push it but not enough to get caught on a pocket. cheers!
Hey nice video. Want to tell you have this cam since 2018 and nothing broke, the display works well. Switched places two times and idk where this cam was both times. We throw packages and this thing was always somewhere and looks like new. Would recommend it if you want something that lasts long.
I recently bought a "nearly new" RX100iii and am totally happy with it. It produces excellent photos (I haven't shot video yet). The build quality feels almost Rolex solid...the only thing I wish it had was the newer longer zoom lens, but I'll deal with it since the look and feel and image quality are beyond what I expected from such a small camera.
There is a big trade-off for the longer zoom range on the newer models. Your max aperture is much smaller on the m6 and m7. F1.8 v.s 2.8 may not sound like a lot, but it is quite a big jump - and when you consider its a 1" crop, it is a gigantic gap. You also loose the built in ND filter. What you could do as a compromise is find a good quality vintage telephoto converter (that screws onto the lens thread rather than onto the camera's lens mount) and use it along with a thread adapter for the Rx100.

I take a lot of risks with my camera, photographing while cycling in groups, so I didn't want to spend over $300 USD for this purpose. I've used a few different Canon compacts, presently a G7x, but I know there will come a time I will drop it and it breaks.

I have this camera but hardly ever use it. I want to start making youtube video again, but not sure if I have the settings right. Can you make a video on how you would set the camera for shooting video for youtube? I have problem when editing in imovie. I think it might be my setting. Thank you!
Very similarly - the G7 X m2 is much newer, but is pitched lower down the market than Sony's Rx100 line. The Rx100 m3 is much older, but was pitched at the top end of the compact camera market at launch. What that means is that a lot of the technology its packing is at the same or a similar level to the rx100 m3. The G7x m2 is a bit more ahead spec wise, but I would say go with the one which features you want more. E.g. the lack of a viewfinder on the G7X was a dealbreaker for me, but equally - the lack of a touchscreen and touch focus could also be a dealbreaker for the Rx100.
Hey! Would you happen to know why my mark iii won't connect to internet or to my phone? It just say "no internet connection" in an orange text in the wifi settings on my phone.
I can't find anywhere an Fstop focal lenght ratio. What f stop the rx is able to keep at 35, 40, 50 mm? 70 is f2.8 right, but I love to shot at around 40. Many thanks.
I have a SONY RX100m4 and the flash has suddenly failed. I get the feeling that the 'ribbon' connection has broken, someplace. This cost me £790 here in the UK and now it's a waste. I wont buy another RX100 series as the build quality is so poor. Never did I expect the flash mechanism to fail.

With a wide angle lense is this camera suitable for landscape photography? I like a compact camera to take with me on my travels to take scenic shots.

My RX3 flash break down twice. My 1st flash reolacement cost me US 100 4yrs ago. Now using the flash.
