thank you for being such a real human being. im 21 years old and am an electricans apprentice. life is not perfect and i know it could be way worse but im tired of sitting where i am in life. i want more. i work my ass off but still have communication problems and am not the best worker in the world at my current job. im allready starting my landscaping busniess. i enjoy the work and being hands on. i have a couple jobs lined up but its hard doing 40 a week for a company and then doing my side hustle. You seem very sincere with your videos and as time passes im sure i will watch all of them. im going to be commenting reguraly because you helped me see what i was blind to. im ordering busniss cards tonight and am going to accpet jobs when the price range is out of reach for the customer, just so i can get myself out into the world and expand. i would like some insight into this one job i want to do.

Keith, Thank you so much for all you do. This year is the first full year on my own and I never would have taken this leap if I never came across your channel 2 years ago. I'm going to be honest man. It can get pretty heavy in the squirrel nest of a brain I have. Between all the things pulling me in 12 different directions I sometimes lose hope and then I see a video like this and its restored. I was lucky enough to get some money paid to me and I just imitated my old bosses business. Left very quickly after a disagreement with a coworker and hit the ground running as i needed a job. Went to an old customer and asked if he needed any work doing, bought secondhand tools and put my flyers in the local shops and joined all the local community groups on Facebook and advertised there. Coming up 1 year self employed, just gardening nott landscaping but not working as hard as my boss worked me and earning more. My goal is to have 5 days a week in summer and then have some downtime, surf and study this winter until I'm busy year round.
Keith, your right on point with the daily struggle. We just have to keep our heads up and keep marching forward. My first year in the industry and i also started a native plant nursery in southwest Oklahoma. Always unpredictable weather, too hot or windy. Great video!

I’ve been knocking around the idea of pressure washing on the side. Within the last couple weeks I got my minimal activity business license to operate in my county, and am going to be getting my equipment and general liability insurance. I also have flyers, business cards, and door knockers I’ve made with Canva/vista print.
The one thing that has caused me to hit a brick wall is taxes and a business checking account etc. I don’t understand any of that as far as being able to pay myself from my business account, business taxes, what I can and can’t report. I personally think it’s a not so sexy topic that needs to have a detailed video made about for those of us wanting to do a side business. I find this topic very overwhelming and almost makes me want to forget the idea all together.
Please help me and others with a video on business accounts, business taxes, paying yourself, expenses etc. If there is already a video out there then please point me in the direction.

I will shake your hand one day. I live in pennsylvania right outside of philadelphia so we basically have the same seasons. When you are crazy busy so am I. The money has started trickling in and with no time to spare I have not figured how to save over the winter and the handyman jobs only go so far to cover the bills. I am very excited for spring like I am every year it really breaks me out of my funk.

I'm a mechanic and I work has a mechanic for 15 years ,I don't want to doe that anymore,I feel like I want to start a landscaping business
Ive been homeless 2 years. Went down that hole. I went knocking on doors until I got a yes. Tomorrow I have my first job. 35 dollars gonna pull weeds by hand and Ive got my flyers and cards ready to be printed. Imma get some hand tools after. And then get another few jobs until I can get those prints. And work until I can get that truck, then those bigger tools. Theres a half rotten bike kart Ive seen by the end of a wrong bus route I accidentally took twice. Im going to pick this up tonight and leave it out the shelter for next week. Its 11pm. I’m 12 and I’m just start to do lawn care I have a push mower,weed whacker and blower I’ve cut 4 lawns
I started at 13 years old we had the tools already but I bought some other equipment then I made a website and posted my self on next door app but going door to door with my business brought more customers I was making 45$ per week at first then 500-1000$ per week I worked every single day after school and Saturdays now I’m learning how to add more like detailing cars and clean Windows’s

Don't think working those mental hours is good though. I just want a good work/life balance and to be my own boss. Might get a young guy working for me part time over summer once I'm established just to trials how it is having staff.
I’ve been watching Keith since he started making videos. Never had the balls to do landscaping back then. I’m 39 and broke as a joke. I started mowing lawns out of my suv. I bought a used 30” exmark mower and buying a trailer on Saturday. It can be done. I’m going to gross $1300 this week out of an SUV.

Does tree trimming and removal fall under landscaping or is it different in different states just as far as licensing and insurance? Any input would help
Tree trimming from the ground with hand tools falls under grounds maintenance. But tree removal is a completely different class code for insurance.

Thanks. I've made 2500 videos on this channel. About 500 of them are in the field landscaping.
In truth. I've probably made more actual "in the field landscaping" videos than 90% of every green industry RUclipsr including the ones who only make actual landscaping videos. I'm just sick of making them. If you scroll back to 2014 - 2018 there's about 400 landscaping videos.
Also... I have over 50 hours of unedited landscaping videos where I paid my employees to GoPro themselves working. And it costs me hundreds of dollars to get these videos edited and there too time consuming to edit myself so there just sitting on a hard drive waiting in line to be edited.
