Great video! I started my own business (landscaping) about two years ago with my then 16 year old son. First had a push mower a hand held leave blower and a edger that my dad gave me. Now I have a truck a trailer a zero turn riding mower, all commercial. Been using a 22” mower that one of my clients gave me when he moved. I am now well known around my neighborhood since I only do landscaping part time and within 5 miles radius from my home. Nextdoor app is a great way to start up a business to. B4 I forgot, God is great.

I'm 23 years old. I started last year. Bought a truck, self propelled mower, weed eater, blower, hand tools and wheelbarrows, other little things, all for under $6000. I made it back within my 1st two months while working less than 40 hours a week. I was able to land some good mulch and sod jobs pretty much right off the bat. A sales background helps ;) lol. I worked all sorts of horrible full-time jobs and make more money now with less stress doing yards. Started my business six years ago, full-time now for three. Loving this business, loving my clients and still learning how to make it more efficient and profitable.

I was just doing basic lawn mowing I’m tryna end the year with 5 properties a day so 50 a month paying me a flat rate of $50 a lawn as long as it takes an hour or less you’d make a good $250 a day or $1200 a week while only working 5-6hr days
I know there are people out there watching this stuff thinking that it can't be this "easy" to start a landscaping business. Truth be told, it isn't easy. It's a lot of hard work. It's even more work if you don't have a lot of knowledge in the details of landscaping. However, what Keith talks about with low to no start up capital and not needing some crazy loan to get a business started is 100% legit. For me personally I had a lot of the tools needed to start my business. Hand tools and experience working in landscaping. The other stuff I didn't have I was able to borrow or rent. I'm not in the landscape maintenance side, I'm in hardscape, irrigation, renovation, that sort of thing. The principles still apply. My first 30 days out on my own I already have over $10,000 in net profit lined up. It keeps growing every day, more bids, more jobs booked out. At the rate things are going I'll be hiring an employee way sooner than I thought. Grind, work hard, take the leap, have faith in yourself. It's attainable and very worth it. What do you have to lose?
I would recommend getting a strong clientele of repeat work first, before taking on bigger jobs. That's how I've done it from starting two years ago. Landscape and gardening work is very exhausting and once your business is sustainable, evaluate and take time out to evaluate. Be wary of insurance, it happened to me two weeks ago when I accidentally applied an electrical kettle onto a gas stove, in a clients kitchen.
You really do inspire me. I am a 17 year-old who whas been working for the same job for two years with little pay. My parents are struggling with financial problems, and I was willing to get more money to support my family. I see landscaping as the best option because I'm already proficient in that field. I had no money. I hope to stay m business soon. I found this video very helpful and Informative.
Thank You.. I needed that testimony! I had already bought 2 used mowers a blower and a weed wacker/edger. Tomorrow I'm going to print up flyers and cards. Oh and yeah I will be knocking on some doors!! Thanks again for this video!!!
Got 3 yrs experience for landscaping ...i understand everything he's saying ...im goin to get my own business ..always wanted too and this just made me more motivated...goood job on this video my guy ....nothin but motivation here
The first week I started I was that "magical person" for 2 people that I found knocking doors for just 30 minutes one evening. Just those TWO clients and their referrals have been worth at least $30,000 in 5 years! My business does window cleaning but the concept is the same. Treat every client like your best friend. You never know who might be the connector the jump starts your business.
That is awesome. When I owned my window washing company I started it by walking door to door in every strip center within 25 miles of my home. I later sold the company to a window washing employee of one of my competitors. Keep at it. If you ever have a question feel free to reach out. www.mavconsultants.com
I've been sitting on how to start a business by myself for a while now , but no clue how to start turns out I was only missing confidence in your ability and with how to speak to people because that's the only thing different from.what I thought I needed to do and what ur explaining I had all these ideas with out anyone saying them to me but never had THE DRIVE U ARE GIVING me from this video thank u
I started last spring and finally have a truck, trailer, tools a walk behind mower and 5 customers!! All thanks to your video's Keith! Lol thanks dawg!! I know 5 customers is nothing but I'm gonna build this thing from the ground up!! 💪
I'd like to shake your hand man. Your enthusiasm and the emotion for this is so inspirational dude, thank you! Iv watched a fair amount of your content and I feel alot more confident to get my start. Keep doing this, it's making waves for sure man!
Reenlisted in a Engineering unit as a carpenter/masonry and looking to start a landscaping/renovating homes business i will be learning from your videos.
Just came across this video. I’m currently 13 doing a business with my friend. It has gone great, considering we are only 13, we still make it possible. Thanks man.
Thanks Keith! Love the willingness to show emotion too. I'm an emotional guy, and know I'll be just the same when I'm finally FREE! I just started this year, and using this time while I am still at my day job to NOT rely on the income from my lawn maintenance business, but to use it to grow the heck out of it, and its worked pretty well. I've been able to, little by little, buy everything with cash and its been nice to know when I launch full time, I won't have all that hanging over me as an added burden.
i worked a third shift job as a single parent trying to make ends meet and always getting laid off.. traded in my jeep for a truck with a plow and a friend let me borrow his walk behind.. i had a weed eater curve shaft that needed a nickel in the choke to hold it open to get the job done but i did 100% and they loved it. 6 years later i have one employee a brand new truck and 24 ft enclosed trailer full business insurance a dump truck leaf vac ground blowers etc etc. I was able to purchase two brand new harleys and have a nice home with a customer who is now my wife lol!!! I never graduated high school and went from 20g a year to up near 100g a year just doing maintenance on properties and firewood anyone can do this but you need to 100% be a go getter and pound the social media
I'm 18 years old and I have been working a 9-5 at a grocery store for the past year. I just recently started my own landscaping business because I don't want to be just another teen employee. This video really gave me more ideas on how to get my business started. Thank you, Mr. Kalfas.
This gave me some good confidence, thank you. I'm planning on taking over my fathers landscape company and would like to expand it a little, I keep watching your videos and they're very helpful.

I love you as a person and a remodel.
Pretty good video i used to work in Aerospace Industry in 1993 my company move to China friend of mine asked me about Landscaping and I said sure why not start it off with just a few tools and begin to work my butt off I had some great jobs but there was a lot of competition and I lost a few to others who are working dirt cheap compared to my prices so I ended up getting my contractors license in landscaping and I started getting some really good jobs and working at some very prestigious properties There is some overhead in landscaping and many headaches to go with it but things worked out and you could be very successful If you do a good job the competition is rare
I quit my hospitality job after 16 years and started landscaping.. Your videos help alot .. I use a Prius to haul around my Tools like you said buy the tool when you need it and that's some good advice I was told before. Now I got a car full of tools 👌💯 next is a truck which I'm looking for now

I wathed this video about the same time last year and I was afraid to make the leap. I finally decided 3 months ago to start my property maintenance business. In 3 months I have made 10k . In my first month I did 2500 working 5 days a week. In my second month I made 3500 working 6 days a week. Last month I brought in 5k and brought in a second guy. I have done very little advertising except for business cards and word of mouth and I have more work than I ever thought possible. right at the forefront of the pandemic nonetheless. LAST YEAR WAS THE FIRST BEST TIME TO START A LANDSCAPING BUSINESS. 2020 IS THE NEXT BEST YEAR. Listen to Keith on this one. Take the leap and you will never look back.

I like this guy sounds very smart me and my wife are starting our own land scape and I will be following your page and will subscribe
When you learn to start a business you don't need an expert, you need a hustler :D This guy has earned it!
I get the most tips and advice from your channel then any other lawn Care channel cause you actually talk about how it really is no bs thanks Keith
I love who you are, I love your drive. I have been thinking about it for 5 years....Your video just pushed me over the edge. thank you sir.
You can do it!
I watched this video because I'm helping my dad startup his landscaping business (Leo's). This really helped! thank you!
Your clients are everything. So are your workers. I use to work a phone for years. I miss it dearly.
Listen to this guy, thanks to him I started my own company and I’m doing really well thanks Keith! 🙏
Daniel Cruz!
Thank you. Have listened to a lot of people, but you have really inspired me to make that scary “Leap”. You where speaking directly to me. God bless.
This video inspired me to go all in with my business about 2 1/2 years ago. Things are going great and I could not be happier. Thanks Keith!
So awesome congrats
You really do inspire me. I am a 17 year-old who whas been working for the same job for two years with little pay. My parents are struggling with financial problems, and I was willing to get more money to support my family. I see landscaping as the best option because I'm already proficient in that field. I had no money. I hope to stay m business soon. I found this video very helpful and Informative.
Networking is something people need to be taught in school. I have made mad money just by connecting people through Networking
Thank You.. I needed that testimony! I had already bought 2 used mowers a blower and a weed wacker/edger. Tomorrow I'm going to print up flyers and cards. Oh and yeah I will be knocking on some doors!! Thanks again for this video!!!
Got 3 yrs experience for landscaping ...i understand everything he's saying ...im goin to get my own business ..always wanted too and this just made me more motivated...goood job on this video my guy ....nothin but motivation here
Finally somebody who's very helpful and makes it very simple thx man
I did it, just the way he said it, and it works.
I'm gonna watch a few times whenever I get lost in my drive new favorite youtube channel
I started last spring and finally have a truck, trailer, tools a walk behind mower and 5 customers!! All thanks to your video's Keith! Lol thanks dawg!! I know 5 customers is nothing but I'm gonna build this thing from the ground up!! 💪
Amen brother I like your attitude
@@jaketryban8772 do you own a landscaping business?
Joe manachi yeah my dad and I do together. We also have a Christmas tree farm
@@jaketryban8772 Wow. Dang a family business lol.. hows it going? I'm thinking of starting one.
Joe manachi it’s good man just a lot of work! Lol. So be ready!!!
This is one of the best, most inspiring videos in general I've seen on starting a business, landscaping or not!
Just came across this video. I’m currently 13 doing a business with my friend. It has gone great, considering we are only 13, we still make it possible. Thanks man.
AWESOME
Thanks Keith! Love the willingness to show emotion too. I'm an emotional guy, and know I'll be just the same when I'm finally FREE! I just started this year, and using this time while I am still at my day job to NOT rely on the income from my lawn maintenance business, but to use it to grow the heck out of it, and its worked pretty well. I've been able to, little by little, buy everything with cash and its been nice to know when I launch full time, I won't have all that hanging over me as an added burden.
You JUSS GAVE ME THE LAST BIT OF MOTIVATION I NEED THANK YOU FOR DIS VID
i worked a third shift job as a single parent trying to make ends meet and always getting laid off.. traded in my jeep for a truck with a plow and a friend let me borrow his walk behind.. i had a weed eater curve shaft that needed a nickel in the choke to hold it open to get the job done but i did 100% and they loved it.
Just wondering, how do you drive at 15?
I live in southeast Michigan and this video just described my feelings on being on the fence and I want to go for it!
Thank you so much Keith 🙏Watched this video at 2 am and it really literally woke me up. All the way from South Africa 🇿🇦🇺🇸
You're very welcome
This man Keif Klafis speaks nothing but truth , if you really want to do it, this is how, it’s that simple!!!!
I'm 18 years old and I have been working a 9-5 at a grocery store for the past year. I just recently started my own landscaping business because I don't want to be just another teen employee. This video really gave me more ideas on how to get my business started. Thank you, Mr. Kalfas.
Hows the business going
This gave me some good confidence, thank you. I'm planning on taking over my fathers landscape company and would like to expand it a little, I keep watching your videos and they're very helpful.

Keith... I love your videos man. Keep up the hype brother, LOVE IT!!!!!! I’m 17sophomore in high school trying to start my own business. I’ve done neighbors lawns for the past few years but I want to expand and make more moneyyyyyyyyyyyy dawg. I passed out about 100 flyers that I printed out from my printer last week and have 2 jobs lighted up for $700. So excitedddddd. Thank you so much man, you are an inspiration to me. I love you as a person and a remodel.
I love the way you talk to us man one on one feeling .
Pretty good video i used to work in Aerospace Industry in 1993 my company move to China friend of mine asked me about Landscaping and I said sure why not start it off with just a few tools and begin to work my butt off
I had some great jobs but there was a lot of competition and I lost a few to others who are working dirt cheap compared to my prices so I ended up getting my contractors license in landscaping and I started getting some really good jobs and working at some very prestigious properties
There is some overhead in landscaping and many headaches to go with it but things worked out and you could be very successful
If you do a good job the competition is rare
I quit my hospitality job after 16 years and started landscaping.. Your videos help alot .. I use a Prius to haul around my Tools like you said buy the tool when you need it and that's some good advice I was told before. Now I got a car full of tools 👌💯 next is a truck which I'm looking for now
@David James yes I did
I could fit a lawnmower in my car 😁😁
I’m getting my degree in horticulture with a specialization in landscaping, I have a lot of knowledge about plants but not about how to actually start a business from scratch. This video was so helpful and gives me confidence. I’m tired of working min wage for someone else’s landscaping business.
You can do it!

Thanks for the Video! I have a few questions! 1. Each Landscaper needs to be State Certified? 2. How much is the Insurance Cost? 4. How to do Payment Collections and Over Dues? 5. How to Settle Disputes with Customers?
I really needed to watch this thank you bc, I'm trying to start my own property maintenance businesses and iam lost on how to advertise and get myself out there. But i have almost all the equipment i need just no knowledge of marketing but this was really good insight to starting up a business 👍

Hey Keith, 17th June, Thursday, in an hour am about to go to a Dentist's residence to do his garden. Great video Kieth, hope you continue to succeed maan blessing.
I need to watch this 3 more times seriously
Awesome man! Can really see the emotion and passion to not only be successful, but happy too.
Haha
Keith, thank you for the tips. Made the decision to start 11 Nov 19. But have been working on the business since Jan. Going to hunt for my own food. "The only free cheese? is in the mouse trap".
I'm starting this year, taking that leap of faith & refusing to work for someone else any longer. Thank you for your sound advice.
reints74 how is it going for you so far ? I too started this year with lawn service and so far I have 4 by weekly mowing customers.
@@5ATX12 I haven't been able to start this spring as planned, but all equipment will be purchased & ready to go by mid summer. Not ideal, but it's still gonna happen this year. I created a logo & started to spread the word locally & there seems to be enough work to keep busy part time right away. Glad to hear you have customers already! Keep me posted!
reints74 have you started yet? God bless you and I hope the best for you on it! My friend and I are trying to now. Have a wonderful day! God loves you!
John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Thanks dude, I ran across this video for a good reason, love it...
Note: Take the before and after pictures of the work you did and posted on Facebook, also put the Facebook link or name page on your businesse card, so they'll look at the page and see what work you did....
You’re wonderful! I wish I had found your channel when I was freelance landscaping on my own. I really struggled with pricing, but just went by my own instincts and experience. I was busting my ass and barely getting paid - so I raised my wages and lost business. You have me cracking up and learning for when the time is right for me to get back to business. I very much appreciate your channel!
You're very welcome
How start it without having a c27 contractor license
He is definitely right about starting with no debt. Great info, God Bless brother.
