I am starting to REALLY like this game!! I felt like we really did a lot in today's episode too. Even if my house is... um... a little... ugly... I kinda feel like I'm gaining some confidence! I mean, let's compare how many times I died last episode to this one. It's like a 25:0 ratio. Pretty impressive if I say so myself! But don't hesitate to give me some tips!!

Just a few small tips
-You can turn on smart cursor by clicking left ctrl. This tool helps with mining a lot because it will mine the three blocks in front of you or two below you without you having to manually switch between blocks. This will also help with breaking trees and placing walls easier.
-Those underground houses can contain very useful loot. Look out for things like Hermes boots (makes you move faster) and a cloud in a bottle (a double jump).
-Sometimes when you go underground you can find a glowing heart. When you mine this, and consume it, it will increase your max hp by 20.
-The snow biome underground houses also contain very useful loot. They can contain a blizzard in a bottle which is like a better double jump, and an ice blade which does good damage and shoots a projectile.
-Accessories. You can equip them by putting them in the slots beneath the armor slots. An example of an accessory is the arcane step stool that you had. The cloud and the blizzard in a bottle are also accessories.
-Reforges. Reforges are like little extra buffs that go on items. Like the ARCANE in an arcane step stool. You probably shouldn’t worry about those yet though.
-Potions. Potions are extremely useful for mining, bossfights, and they just make your life easier. Potions use a combination of water bottles and flowers. Potions like iron skin, shine, regeneration, and spelunker are EXTREMELY useful.
-Hammers are used to break walls and shape blocks in different ways. You can easily make a wooden hammer right off the bat.
-Collecting clay can be pretty useful because you can make clay pots that will grow flowers if you place seeds in them. These flowers can later be used for potion-making
-About swimming, you just sink to the bottom of the water unless you have water walking boots, water walking potion, or an inner tube. You can also kind of jump through the water if you have a special accessory called flippers.
-Navi, the fairy, will guide you towards things like chests and life crystals. If you ever find one, follow it!
Anyway sorry if you didn’t understand my essay, but I’m really enjoying this series. Just remember that these tips mean nothing if you don’t have fun. That is my number 1 tip.

Exploring is a good way to find loot that will help you trough the early stage of the game.

I think I'm beginning to piece together what everyone's talking about, and I'm definitely having a lot of fun doing so :) I'm watching a ton of videos so I'll definitely look into GrobeMan Guides too. ALSO I FOUND TWO OF THE HEART CRYSTALS IN MY 100 DAYS on like DAY FIVE. So I'm beginning to feel like a pro... Maybe I need to be humbled a bit more

It's actually really refreshing seeing someone play this game for the first time and learning about it. Thought it was absolutely hilarious when you said "... and then I'm feeling like going against the moonlord???" As someone who has spent a lot of time on the game my greatest tip is always have the wiki open and ready for you to look something up.
I'll definitely keep the wiki open next time lol :)
Must do:
- Check what hallowed and evil biomes are. It is very important and can save you a lot of time. I personally wouldn’t focus on polishing my first world, but focus on progression, and then create a new world and start polishing with all the op gears. You can certainly polish your first world but its very time taking and if you wait until you get good tools, it’s gonna be too late
Tips:
- Guide NPC shows you crafting recipes
- Access housing query by clicking the house icon at the far right of your screen when you open inventory. Housing query can help you find what makes NPC don’t move into them, and assigning NPCs to room that you want
- Build multiple houses for many NPCs. You can tower the houses if you dont want it to take up space. Most NPCs move in randomly, some will only move in after you rescued them at certain places. All of them sell stuff, except nurse who heals you full if you pay her.
- Hammer breaks walls, shapes tiles into different shapes, and you can destroy the light orb in evil biomes to get a sometimes useful but mostly useless light pet (a pet that emits light)
- Hoard every materials
- Check out zuzucorn’s guide, he makes very good and detailed guides, don’t watch his series progression if you don’t want too much spoilers. The ones thats titled “ Progression in XX minutes” are good and worth checking out
- You can break chests after you have taken everything out of it
- You can trash items by bringing it to the trash can icon in your inventory
- Some useful shortcut keys: Ctrl to trash items, Shift to store items into chests when you have opened one, Alt to favorite (makes it so that you cant quick trash/store), Right click on accessories or armor to quick equip, E to use hook. Im on mac so idk if it matches you
- The basic arena that is essential for every boss is a few decently long rows of platform and put some campfires, don’t make them too close or it will be a pain to fall through them. 3 rows, 9 tiles apart are good when you start, after you get double jumps or flight, you can increase it to 12 or something
- Must have accessories are boots and wings. The first boots is found in chests in the caverns layer, and use a gravity potion to find sky island to get either a double jump or wings accessory. You should at least get hermes boots, any hook/double jump before start fighting any boss. You can right click to equip hook. You will be able to upgrade the boots and wings as you progress, check out zuzucorn’s guide on wings and boots
- Collect the fallen stars, 5 makes it into a mana star so you can increase it to 200, it also serves as bullet for ranger class
- Collect heart crystals to increase your hp, after that you can keep collecting to make them into heart lanterns, they boosts your health regen
- Campfires provide health regen
Ooh I didn't even know about the shortcut keys! I also didn't know about the mana starts boosting mana!! Also what do you mean by polishing a world? The corruption biome is pretty close to where I've spawned in. Would that be a problem because I know that they spread, right? I haven't found the hallowed biome yet (I've never even heard of that before I literally just Googled it lol) but should I be looking for it because of the spread?
@@Cakester By polishing the world, I mean making it your main world, with stuff like designing actual buildings rather than a shoe box house (rectangle houses), or building afk farms, focusing in NPCs happiness, setting up pylons. You should take care of the evil biomes before doing those things, because if corruption/crimson biomes spread to any of your NPCs houses, they won't stay in there anymore. It could ruin your world in short.
The Hallowed biome will appear after you have beaten a specific boss, you will enter the hard phase of the world, its identifiable by it's signature colorful trees and light blue grass. You don't really need to stop the spread of Hallowed biomes, unless you want the other biomes to be separated clearly. Also when the world enters hard mode, there's a chance of another corruption biome appearing.
If the corruption biome is near your base, then I guess you should dig a tunnel around your base, you don't need to worry YET, since pre hardmode's evil biomes spread speed is very slow.

Holding shift down will quickly put a torch or a glowstick into your hands, regardless of where in your inventory they are. So you don't need to put them into the hotbar. As long as you hold shift down and have a torch or a glowstick in your inventory your character will take it out.
Rope coils can be stacked, you just need to click right onto an existing rope with the rope coil equipped.

I'll just send quality of life tips:
1. Press ctrl to use the smart cursor, which changes your cursor from sharp which destroys a specific block it is pointing at, to chonky which automatically selects the blocks and all you need to do is keep pressing the mouse to destroy or mine.
2. You can actually use a selected block either in your hotbar/inventory to replace a block you're pointing at, the same goes for walls.
3. There is no such thing as crafting too much, you'll always have a use for extra.
4. Once you get a grappling hook, press E and it'll shoot towards your mouse cursor.
5. Terraria wiki is your best friend. and
6. To make a house suitable for NPC's to live in, make sure it's 8 blocks high, has walls both physical and background, door because of course, a table and either 1 or 2 chairs, and sufficient light source.
Ps. The peeps who said you should use platforms is essentially the stairs in this game, you should place at least 8 blocks above you(your character is 3 blocks tall) in order to jump above to get to the next floor. You can also use hammers to change the shape of blocks, or to mine background walls like your wood walls.
One more thing!
Press and hold shift to quick change with a light source, and everything else it provides you'll find out soon.

I'm a little nervous to make a grappling hook because I feel like I won't be able to use it well but I think this gave me a little more confidence. And YES. What would I do without the wiki?? Idk how people figured out anything before the internet. Also I got a couple NPCs this next episode!!
This is actually hilarious, glad the algorithm randomly recommended this to me. I got hundreds of hours in the game, but gonna opt for letting everyone else give tips and just enjoy the ride

This is wholesome content guys.
You can just make a block of wood with a chair , a work bench and a torch.
When you view your inventory below your map there are some icons.
You can click on the house icon and then click on the house you build and the game will tell you if your house is valid.
If it isnt it will say "this is not viable housing" or "this house is missing a wall/chair/light source/etc."
You can also try to build really nice houses for your npcs but thats up to you.
I seriously ended up getting a few NPCs because of that little helpful house icon!! I had no idea how simple it was haha!!

i swear ive seen you somewhere before, but i cannot remember, anyways, i cant wait to see you play more of this, there arent many new youtubers playing terraria that are actually fun to watch, so finally i found one lol! i cant wait until i see your reaction when the crazy things happen, oh and cant wait until you use your lead pickaxe on the final boss of the game, although someone has probably done that

So my tips are to use platforms to create areas to walk across or get down, build more rooms with tables and chairs to get npcs, and consider doing fishing since it can provide great loot.
I started fishing in this next episode and I LOVE IT. I also utilized platforms and got more NPCS so you definitely helped me out there

Hi Cakestar, if you save some tombgraves that placed on the grass field, do not throw them away and spare just only one, because there's this one summon item that can be used to fight for you
"Abigail's Flower", it is a flower that will spawn beside on the grave, do try it, I used that in my early start off with my survival
Then if you got bored of it
Then i guess you can start making the flinx staff right ahead located in the ice biome, just simply get 6 flinx fur and either gold/platinum bars for about 10 just to secure, hope this helps :) goodluck and have fun

Great video! One thing, if you want someone to move in, you need to add a floor where your mine entrance is (you can use platforms so you can walk through), and add a chair next to the workbench. Can’t wait for the next video!

Use the platforms you've made to make it easier to go up and down places that would generally be harder to get up and down instead of playing blocks restricting you from going up and down places since blocks are solid and platforms are not.

a little further detail on this comment : what he means is that when you are grinding for a specific item god says "hey how about we make that item take 14x longer to get just for the sake of annoying the player" but then when you are grinding for a different item that item you were grinding for before is like:

1 explore the world (gives u some more loot and can really help you with getting a good weapon)
2 if you build a house the guide will show up and if you talk to him and click crafting u can put anyting in the little box and see what it can make
3 this is a huge game dont worry if you dont know what is going on
4 before fighting a boss build an arena(some platforms and campfires) it will help a ton
5 have fun
so yea just use the wiki if you ever find anyting u dont understand and good luck on your adventure

Regarding swimming. Your character can’t swim on their own but there’s items to help like flippers you put in the slots below your armor

12:21 My personal favorite way to play is with the mage class, it’s really fun and has plenty of cool weapons!
if you choose to go this route, get lots of fallen stars and turn them into mana stars, and head to the jungle; lots of awesome magic stuff there! It is a bit dangerous though, but it’s worth it :D

the mage class is definitely the most interesting to me atm. the wand is just so fun!!
You can use individual pieces of rope and add more to the length by placing 2 (or more) rope on the same tile (it will automatically place the rope under the first one)

Lead ore is good for creating ironskin potions
To make your boss fights easier(I craft 1 every boss fight, but i craft more if i want to farm bosses)
Daybloom is a flower that is essential for potions mainly the ironskin potion, regen potion, or when playing ranger the archery or ammo reservation potions.
Melee is a hard class, but it can tank hits.
Ranger is good if you are good at running away and keeping distance from bosses and enemies(melee weapons can be used if you don't wanna waste arrows or bullets)
You should kill king slime first
Just need an arena
-Campfires for Regen
-Sunflowers for Speed
-Platforms(place more platforms above and under it so that you can jump up and dodge some attacks)
Those are the basics to arena building
Use left control to turn of smart cursor. It makes your wall placement faster and mining way easier. Also starting out you need to pick a class, Ranger, summoner, mage, and melee. Ranger is a class all about keeping your distance and picking at your enemy’s hp from far away. Mage is the glass cannon of the bunch, able to do an insanely high dps but a combination of mana management and low defence makes it a complicated class to use well. Summoners have a comically low defence and are for people who like to dodge rather than attack. Wait for the right time to strike than use whips to deal a great dps. And the melee class is the tank. With a moderate dps but the highest defence possible. However in the late game, the melee class ends up as just a ranger with a higher defence and a lower dps. I would say that the easiest class would be the ranger, then the melee class, then the mage, and the summoner is the hardest to use
Shooot I definitely was the most interested in the mage class after getting that wand. Maybe I'll look into the ranger because I definitely don't wanna stress myself too much for that lol

@@Cakester mage isn't too hard you will get hit a bit harder than ranger though.
Also, another thing that should probably be said, there are classes in the game, these classes are melee which uses swords and flails and things like that, ranged which uses bows and guns, and magic which uses wands and tombs and other things, and summoner which commands their summons and wields a whip. Melee has the most defense and summoner has the least. It is a little early to choose a class, but it will help you in the long run. No, there are no skill trees the class is only determined by your items. If you do not know what a weapon's class is look at the damage type.

make sure to explore the sky (it has a limit so dont overdo it!) because you can encounter a sky island (either a lake or a building with a lot of good loot)

hey there, don't know if you read this on the wiki but there's different classes like melee, ranger, mage, and summoner, they all have different armors and give different armor sets, there is also heart crystals in the underground they're kinda hard to find but they're obviously easy to find since it's red
And glowing
Yeah!! I did a liiittle research on the classes just because I am loving the wand lol but I'm really interested in learning more about heart crystals because I know you need 200 hp to fight the eye of cthulhu (I might be wrong) but it sounds... so difficult? To find so many of them? I'm hoping I'll be able to do it in my 100 days of terraria video though. Thoughts?? Do you think it'll take longer or am I underestimating myself lol
@@Cakester you might be underestimating yourself, each heart crystal gives 20 bonus hp, so getting to 200 health won't be too hard, just fine a good enough cave for them, i would recommend the underground jungle, since it has more open space for the hearts, and if you're going to fight the EoC (eye of cthulhu) i would also recommend silver/tungsten or gold/platinum armor, and in the underground in the forest biome look for broken down houses that will have a golden chest and will sometimes have green boots that'll make you run faster, and if you want to find a gravitation potion and look for sky islands for the red balloon for a boost in jump height, and look for a cloud in a bottle in golden chests in the underground, oh and be careful around those golden chest when they're out in the open since some can be hooked up to a trap, and don't forget to make an arena for the EoC, just 1 long platform will do and when the eye charges at you try to jump over him with the cloud in a bottle or with the balloon
