RC Boats plus Prather and K&B history

- This is the history of Prather Products, specifically the fiberglass boat hulls. It also discusses the history of K&B engines. Prather was one of the early manufacturers of ARR (almost ready to run) with the Fun Cruiser 46" deep vee boat.
The Prather`s Al, Dorothy and Terry were dear friends of my family, they moved to California about the same time we did , about 1953 or there about. Terry was a couple of years older than me. When I was 10 years old ,about 1960 Terry was already involved with fly by wire airplanes made of balsa wood with doped wings.
I last talked to Terry one day in 1966, he stopped by my parents house on his new Honda motorcycle. He came to show off the HOT girl who was riding on the back I suspect.
Al (known to us "back home" friends as Alvin, he and Terry always had something interesting going on.
I recall the time Alvin`s waste disposal company hauled surplus WWII NAVY gas masks to the dump, I got one of them and wasted many hours testing it`s effectiveness with various noxious substances.
Another time I got to go to this brand new place that sold hot dogs in Wilmington California where they lived at that time. Alvin, My Dad, Terry And I drove right up to the building and did not have to get out of the car!
It had a funny name "Der Winersnitzel" or something like that. I later learned that was the very first one opened.
I still like Kraut dogs!
Anyway , as you might have guessed I`m retired and have time to waste, but I should not waste any more of yours .
They pronounced their name as "Prayther".
Jean, Thank you for the interesting past with your friends the Prathers. It sounds like some great memories. Also thanks for letting me know how to properly pronounce their last name.
I just acquired a prather piranha any one got info on this boat? Wish I had a manual. 11cc K&B inboard
