  • Some people approach the Bible superstitiously, attempting to find hidden or mystical meanings behind the text. In this message, R.C. Sproul explains why we should strive to grasp the plain sense of the text instead.

Why is the term "New Covenant" not found in the Westminster Confession of Faith, and the term "the moral law", which is not found in the Bible, is used?
Jer_31:31 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah-
Mat_26:28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Mar_14:24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.
Luk_22:20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
1Co_11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
2Co_3:6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Heb_8:8 Because finding fault with them, He says: "BEHOLD, THE DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH-
Heb_8:13 In that He says, "A NEW COVENANT," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Heb_9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Heb_12:24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
      (NKJV)
The battle between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant began in Acts chapter 15, and continues to the present time. During most of that time period the Judaisers have won the day.

How awesome the Holy Bible is alive through the determination of being known through the "technology" being best recieved in its era being understood.

Nicodemus took the words of Jesus literally - and was gently but firmly rebuked for it.

    • @mevangel9898
      @mevangel9898 Год назад +4

Jesus regularly spoke with figurative language, but made sure to explain it so that it was clear it was figurative (either to his initial hearers or us as readers many centuries later). Nicodemus did think Jesus' initial words were relating to a physical birth. This is no way discredits literalistic interpretation since the text itself denies it: obviously if the text itself pronounces against a literalistic reading we go with that, and technically literal interpretation means to treat allegory as allegory and figurative language as figurative language. You prove yourself to be wrong.

With reference to the book of Joab where it says as he just did “the word of God would go out into the four corners of the globe “ that it should not be interpreted / or / that it doesn’t mean or isn’t a prophesy about the invention of radio , which in so saying could be some kind of literal interpretation of what it says there NOT being correct …
Then where the bible states that” we can see the invisible things of God by the things that are made “ hopefully I got that as accurate as I could with the limited reference that I have … how then should we not assume that this IS part of Gods creation in order to fulfil his word in a literal self of is everything just a possibility or something to be considered without any answer .. please

So not sure what edification your comment was supposed to bring. Of course everything is by God’s power, but we have been given something called free will. Which can be used to bring us closer to God’s power and presence by obeying his Commands or away from it into his judgement by disobeying Him. Each man/woman has personal responsibility over their own actions in this life and the destiny that awaits them. Of course God knows the future, but laying all YOUR present responsibilities unto him means you’re saying we don’t have to do anything to obtain Salvation it’s all in God’s hands, which is MORE than wrong and very misleading to believers. This is why most Christians risk receiving the mark of the beast. They are expecting a literal mark when the mark is spiritual.

    • @mevangel9898
      @mevangel9898 Год назад

The mark of God is clearly not a visible mark, but does not necessitate that we interpret the mark of the beast as invisible, especially in light of a very real possibility that he is a literal figure, who will have real power. If he is not, what is Christ coming back to do, and why is the world still under the influence of Satan? Whatever the mark of the beast is, can any man living pronounce with certainty that the mark is not visible?
God is an invisible Spirit, therefore it would make sense for the mark to be invisible, just as the identity of the elect is known only to God.
Antichrist is a visible man, just as Jesus was a man who was visibly man (this is how it has historically been interpreted). If he is visible, and his kingdom is of a visible earth, surely it makes sense to see this mark as a visible thing.

John the Baptist was the fulfillment of the coming of Elijah. This was spiritual fulfillment - not literal. Read Dt. 6:6-10, Mark of the Beast = counterfeit to the great commandment. (1) Worship God or worship beast (2) Do not worship images or worship beast (3) Honor God's name = character or honor beast = beast character (4) keep Sabbath holy or honor beast day - this is a test of faith not whether someone can force you to take a mark. If you are sincere - you will remember this when the time comes.

    "Literal Interpretation: Knowing Scripture"
Kind Sir...gotta big problem with that...Because the word IS absolute as some other words are; like eternal and everlasting. Sadly, many then rationalize; trying to make those words variables...And that to me is a "trick" from satan. And Jesus would never accept that rationalization. So...
If you try to understand the bible; in literal interpreting Revelation; you will NEVER know what Jesus really meant. And the same for much of Daniel, etc!
Simply: try to literally understand "Gog and MaGog", etc and ETC! Try to literally understand much of Daniels verses. For some of it was so NON-literal that it was allegorical; that Daniel wanted to understand more; from the Angel Gabriel.
When then: Jesus told Daniel, "Go thy way; for you are not to know this now!". NOT to mention this...And in Rev an angel said to John, "Do not write that"! After John saw unbelievable things in Heaven! Wow! And this...
John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
And what does that say? Huh? Think about it Brethren's...
Not to mention the spelling errors, grammatical errors; myths, contradictions and outright LIES; from satan's inspiring's. Oh Yes they ARE there; from Gen to Rev. Just a few examples:
    1. James 2:24 vs Paul 2:8-9.
    2. Deuteronomy 24:1 vs Mathew 19:3-8.
    3. Mathew 1:1 vs John 8:58 and Mathew 22:41-45. With noticing closing verse 45.
    4. Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26 vs Mark 3:28-29.
    5. Genesis 15:13 vs Exodus 12:40-41. Is it 430 yrs or 400? Huh?
    6. 2 Samuel 24:13 vs 1 Chronicles 21:12. Is it 7 or 3 yrs? Huh?
    7. 1 Chronicles 18:4 vs 2 Samuel 8:4. Is it 7,000 or 700? Huh?
And, IF you were to ask 10,000 Pastors; to explain literally Revelation or Daniel 9:24-27; you would get a myriad of different interpretations! Believe it or not. Research it beloved!
So much for literal interpretations! End of Story and I rest me case...
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
