  • What should we do with statements in the Bible that seem either contradictory or impossible to explain? Being aware of the types of ancient poetry and literary forms used in Scripture can help us understand these verses that seem perplexing at first glance. In this message, R.C. Sproul looks at a common Hebrew literary device in God’s Word that functions as a key to unlocking many of its difficult sayings.

Thank you. It’s so important we understand scripture through the historical minds of the authors. We want to read everything through our current time and can get into lots of trouble interpreting correctly. ❤️✝️

“God’s omnipotence is limited only by His moral perfections. God cannot lie nor do any bad act, although He has the power.”
Rather, "sin exist in the world (Cosmos=Universe) with all its terrible consequences in connection with God’s righteous government is an awful and difficult problem, the complete solution of which is not possible to man in his earthly life. But sin does exist, and GOD PERMITS IT FOR REASONS OF HIS OWN, not fully revealed to men. In Heaven it could not be so. No taint of sin can ever enter the gates of this City. If an angel should again sin God would instantly cast him down to hell." (2Peter 2:4).

God create evil but he doesn’t commit evil

    • @enoch3874
      @enoch3874 2 года назад

The reason why most people have a problem with this is a Miss translation issue
When we think of the evil we think in terms of moral evil
But when the Bible uses the term evil it's simply means misfortune... you would be able to find this very same thing out by simply looking up the word evil in a Concordance and following all the citations for the word for most people it needs to be said that we can't simply just take a word and assume our context onto the Bible and the context of God's word is davidic Exile and second temple/Hellenistic Judaism.
We can't filter the Bible through any church tradition either as all Church Traditions have a different context to them other than the one in which the Bible was formulated.

    "Parallelisms"
"What should we do with statements in the Bible that seem either contradictory or impossible to explain?"
(Sorry for the VERY long "comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be said)
To the late Kind Sir...your Title and part of your "Foreword" caught me eye DEEEEEEEEEPLY....because I believe...what MOST do not believe; when it comes to:
    1. Is there contradictions, myths, spelling errors, grammar errors, additions, deletions and outright LIES in bibles! Etc! And...
    2. Did God create "Evil"? Etc!
Well let's start first, with this in...2 Timothy 3:16 "All" scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Now is that true? Huh? (See below)
And secondly: go here in...Isaiah 45:7 I (God) form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Thus, the bible says God did create "evil". And Isaiah 45:7 proves it!
    Well...(see below)
Now let us read this...Deuteronomy 24:1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
    Is that true? (see below)
But this in...Matthew 19:3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? Matthew 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, Matthew 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Matthew 19:7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? Matthew 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
So Jesus is saying: Moses LIED on that verse. But that doesn't mean he lied all the time. Amen!
And this in...Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
But this, in...John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
So Jesus is saying that Mathew LIED on that verse. But all the rest of that verse was right; and all the "generations' below are right.
And if you need more proof that Mathew LIED...please read this...Mathew 22:41-45.
Thus, I believe Paul LIED on his 2 Tim 3:15. But that does NOT mean Paul LIED all the time. As Mathew LIED...and Isaiah LIED. But that does NOT mean they have LIED all the time! Praise Jesus!
Plus, most Bible Scholars have known this for Centuries. But because preachers are SO adamant about believing: there could be NO errors in the Bible; the Scholars stay mute. Fear of death. Oh yes! It CAN happen!
So sad, but OH so true. May Jesus have mercy...on Pastor's preaching to their conflagrations bold LIES. That are all the way from Gen to Rev! So sad. Believe it or not!
End of Story and I rest me case...
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

If you think there are contradictions in the Bible then you're not reading it correctly

Pat, your " Jesus" is not the Jesus of Scripture.

Good gravy, I'm going to have to throw the heresy flag on this one Pat. You can't pick and choose which parts of the Bible you want to believe and those you want to toss aside. It's a wonder you're able to perceive any part of the Bible you want to accept with this approach to Scripture. After all, how is it you can know which parts are true and which parts are false? If you can't stand on all Scripture as the true word of God then you can't rightly stand on any of it.

@@marjieyoung9570 you'll find that pat is pretty consistent on that front, though often deletes then re-posts their comments when people highlight these things.
