    I discovered RC in 1996 While I was driving a truck. Specifically on highway 6 in Sugarland Tx.
    Since then, I have followed his teachings. I went to two conferences ,one in Houston and another one in Conroe Tx. ( he autographed my Bible and a book)
    I couldn’t believe I would shake hands with such a brilliant teacher. His teaching have transformed me and renewed my mind. I thank The Lord God omnipotent for R C. I can now, by the grace of God share the Gospel in a more efficient way.
    Looking forward to meeting him in heaven!!

    I had an experience. I had already accepted Christ, but I felt terrible about my sin. I felt self loathing. I spoke to the bishop of the Episcopal cathedral in Orlando. He explained that I was being convicted by the HS of my sin & bc Christ was in my heart I hated my sin. He said, I’m going to say a short prayer that God will begin to show you how he sees you… I anticipated a polite little prayer & that I would then be on my way. However, I didn’t hear a word of the prayer bc I was enveloped in a profound & penetrating light & warmth of profound acceptance & feeling of well-being… there were no words but I knew that God’s Holy Spirit had engulfed me in a beautiful embrace of perfect love. I wasn’t looking for an “experience” & I hadn’t previously believed some of the so called experiences I had seen on TV. I didn’t fall down or lose consciousness… but I know I encountered God that night & I also knew beyond doubt that the Gospel was/is real & there isn’t any argument that could ever convince me otherwise.

    I loved John Lennox response to the statement that God is for those afraid of the dark. He said that atheism is for those afraid of the Light. We need our teachers but we need to be aware of this truth as espoused by FB Meyer. “There are no new truths, only old truths that need to be discovered.” Amen…never raise any teacher to the level of God.

    This is one of my favorite teachers! I love the fact that alongside biblical veracity his curriculum included acquainting his students with the counter arguments. Having their longterm faith in sight and knowing that objections will rise from inside and out..its a brilliant way to bring them face to face in their own wrestling with truth.
    Given the reality of the state of our hearts, which we ourselves don't even know..I say this in light of that..I don't doubt that those students reading the anti Christian views, in various form inevitably discovered some of those same school of thoughts in themselves, the culture, and traced in history. All as a way to throw them back upon the truth. R. C. knew doctrinally and personally how much anti God philosophies are naturally lodged deep in the human heart and..and can only be discovered and hated (repented of) by belief in the truth...that if those engaged in this task really wanted to know the truth they would seek God with all their heart and find Him in truth. (Which seeking, if true, is a work of God itself).
    R. C. did not invent this teaching method but employed it without fear because he knew the truth is eminently unchanging and therefore utterly more powerful and persuasive than any lie. That teaching method seems to mimic the way even God Himself teaches us.. God in His word has accurately recorded the counter arguments and actions opposed to His truth and as it were He brings all things into the light so that they are there seen and examined and finally known for what it is. That is brilliant that is wisdom and that is love.

    But granting that man is capable of inventing God is not destroying arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

    My husband and I had heard the name R.C. Sproul for years but knew nothing about him until recently when we started watching different preachers on RUclips. How is this even possible? He is the most profound preacher I have ever heard. Unfortunately there aren’t any around today that comes close to his teaching. Not to say there aren’t any good teacher/preachers today because there are but the depth isn’t the same, I.e. when teaching on the holiness of God.

      LOL! What nonsense?
      Without the transcendent standard for moral good/evil given by the God of the Bible, the very terms "good" and "evil" don't even have meaning. Who's to say what's good or evil? You? Me? It all becomes a matter of subjective opinion. Some people consider cannibalism evil. Some people think it's fine. Some people consider child abuse evil. As we can see in the world, other people think it's fine. The same can be said for anything.
      Stop with this nonsense. Which statement in this video did you disagree with, and upon what basis? Give the time stamp. (You know you didn't even watch it.)

    Is there a god or not? That is the theme of most if not all of the debates I hear on atheist fora. Most of these fora are in the West in a Christian environment. However I live in India where there are innumerable religions and the Hindu religion alone has 330 million odd gods. If we take into consideration all the gods of the past and present from all over the world there must have been half a billion gods. So debating whether there is a god or not is as irrational as debating whether there is a book or not without defining or specifying the bood. When we start debating whether there is a god or not we are merely unifying the 90% of the god-believers in the world. On the other hand if we start debating on which god is the true god then this 90% of believers start disintegrating into factions each fighting for his own god. I think the rule divide and conquer works as well in such debates as well as in any war. There are over 40000 denominations in Christianity alone and when we start debaing whether there is a god or not all these 40000 denominations gang up on atheists which makes it difficult for us. However if we start debating whether the Unitarian God or the Catholic God are the real ones we can divide them and win.
    Even if there is a god it does not mean that the story in the Gospels about the god is true. In fact each and every religion is like a chain and even of one link in the chain is weak the whole chain is useless. Thus not only believers have to prove that there is a god but they also have to prove each and every article of belief in the Nicene creed or whatever creed they cater to.
    According to Pascal’s wager it is better to believe in god. But he does not say which god. Judjing by the nature of the Biblical god it is better not to believe in any god than believe in the wrong god. In conclusion it is meaningless to debate whether there is a god or not. Instead debate on “If there is a god which is that God?” and see the consternation we cause among the believers. solventz@gmail.com

  • @81Wordsworth
    @81Wordsworth 2 года назад +2

    This video starts out so well! It's a Christian, but he's thoughtful and knowledgeable, and he's willing to engage with questions that are complex and difficult . . . and then he descends into ridiculous caricature. Without ever really dealing with the Christian bias towards belief that he brings up in the beginning of the video, he imagines that the atheists' bias is that they don't want God to exist because they want an excuse to keep sinning. Really? Do you know any atheists, Mr Sproul? Do you know (or imagine that you know) that we just deny God because we want to keep on going with our evil ways? In fact, most of us atheists feel the exact opposite. We would love to believe that there's a good father looking out for us and a paradise waiting for us at the end of our lives. That's a comforting idea. I'm sure that many Christians are comforted by it, and I'm not in a hurry to take that comfort away from them. But--as Mr. Sproul points out in the beginning of this video before abandoning critical thinking entirely--comforting isn't the same thing as true.
    He then goes into the familiar "Something can't come from nothing" explanation to say that God's existence is so obvious that only someone running from God could deny it. That idea is a complex one, and it's been debunked in other places, so I won't go into it here. Suffice it to say that Sproul's Christian faith preceded this argument. It doesn't come from this argument.

    • @mikkellowe1270
      @mikkellowe1270 2 года назад

      Here's the kicker: that God you're explaining doesn't exist in Scripture. He isn't some gentle, kind god that only gives love and peace signs. He's a holy, wrathful God that demands obedience from his creatures. That goes to show that atheists do indeed have a heavily vested interest to deny the God of Scripture in any way they can, as the existence of such a God is a complete inconvenience. Just because most would can cover this well by acting and false declarations, does not mean it is not so.

    • @mikkellowe1270
      @mikkellowe1270 2 года назад

      "The idea is a complex one" is a convenient way of brushing away the fact that it's complete nonsense, and cannot support itself in the long run.

    • @81Wordsworth
      @81Wordsworth 2 года назад

      @@mikkellowe1270 And your response is a convenient way of trying to affirm the argument without providing evidence for it. The argument is complicated, and if you really wanted to engage with it, there are lots of places you could do so. But briefly:
      1. If something can't come from nothing, then where does God come from?
      2. Scientists don't actually say that the Universe came from nothing. What they say is that we can only trace time and space back to a particular moment. We can say what happened after that moment, but we can't know anything that happened before it.

    • @81Wordsworth
      @81Wordsworth 2 года назад

      @@mikkellowe1270 Again--this is something that some theists invent about atheists because it confirms their own worldview, but it has no basis in reality. Sure, it would be nice to believe in a warm, fuzzy God. But even if God were wrathful and punishing, if there were really evidence for such a God, it would be in atheists' best interest to appease him.
      It would be unpleasant in the short-term, not to mention repugnant and immoral. But if we weighed short-term unpleasantness vs. an eternity of punishment, we would do our best to so what he said. Better to serve the monster than be tortured by him. Atheists don't run from a wrathful God because we don't want to obey. To do so would be against our self interest. We simply don't believe there's any more reason to believe that this version of God exists any more than there's reason to believe in the kinder, gentler God.

    • @mikkellowe1270
      @mikkellowe1270 2 года назад

      @@81Wordsworth
      1. God did not come from anything. We and the universe are contingent- we depend on God to exist and survive- while God is necessary. He has always been, immutable. The question of where he came from is unanswerable, as he never came into being in the first place.
      2. In my understanding, scientists can only trace back the existence of the universe until the laws of physics don't make sense. But think about it- what justification is there for order and laws to come from a state of virtual chaos? What justification is there that we can and should trust reality or even or own minds to be orderly and rational, when we came from disorder and chance?
      The problems are even more disturbing the deeper you get into it.
