- We are living in a day when liberal theology has made deep inroads in the church. Many professing Christians and even ordained ministers no longer believe in the authority of Scripture or the resurrection of Jesus Christ. How can people deny these essential doctrines and still call themselves Christians? In this message, Dr. Sproul explains that liberal Christianity is not Christianity at all. It is nothing more than unbelief.

Goodness, R. C. at his prime, who was like him? A brilliant academic who could so effectively transmit history, theory, and thought to the common man, all to the glory of Jesus. What gem this man was.

You’ve made statements suggesting the virgin birth, atonement are not essential to Christian faith. @@markwallace1251 I don't know why we would be doing that, since giving someone a great compliment, or rather, giving credit where it's due, is different than that fortune teller woman calling out that Paul and Silas were men of God even though they hadn't had any conversation to indicate such a thing, therefore exhibiting the presence of a spirit of divination. I fail to see the similarity between the two, because the compliment that Mike gave RC was not inspired by a spirit of divination, but a VIDEO ON RUclips. So no, we are not striking a parallel between Mike's comment and the fortune teller woman calling out after Paul and Silas, because that would be grossly inaccurate.😜
After Billy Graham, Dr. R.C. Is the preacher I listen to the most, he is a great teacher. Thank you for your dedication to preach the greatness of God and His truths for salvation .

Paul Washer once said that Osteen is God's wrath on theUSa. He isn't a pastor; he is a motivational speaker who tells people what their itching ears want to hear. I just pray they don't think they are hearing the true gospel. I love where MacArthur says that if you think this is your BestLife Now then it will be much et better than the next one. Of couse it's not just Osteen but Furtick Stone et al. We are expose darkness.

Not even close. He's a theological entertainer at best....with no grasp of TF Torrance...Karl Barth or Athanasius. He plays fast and loose with ideas he doesn't understand within a larger framework.
The faith is built on the person and work of Jesus Christ.

RC Sproul may have left this earth, but I am so thankful to the Lord, that Brother Sproul left behind a wealth of these solid lessons, bearing witness to standing firm in the Word of God.

As a kid, I remember watching Dr. Sproul give these wonderful lectures and thinking how cool this teaching is and how much he obviously enjoys it. You feel closer to God and His Word just listening to the great theologians.

R.C . sproul uses multiple languages like Latin , Greek, German , Danish apart from English. That makes his lectures are very interesting even though his listeners may not know those languages except Engish.A great Theological schlour indeed. As the church in America has gone so has the nation. Pulpit's were filled with those who believe not the words of Scripture, and the state was filled with those who believe not their oaths of office. Is it any wonder that this has resulted in the state replacing God? Stand up, speak up and do not deny Christ, my brothers and sisters. Hard times, evil times are upon us, the bride of Christ. May God be pleased to grant that we His children would love Him more than life or social standing. Coram Deo gloria..

One important clarification is not to confuse humanism with humanitarianism. That was a sticking point in some of my discussions with liberals.
God has spoken for us, through His chosen prophets, disciples, and apostles. John 17: 20 and 18: 37. Liberals are unbelievers who deny God's Word and no, according to Jesus, are not of Him.

One definition (according to Webster) of liberal is "Without moral restraint". We in western society look at that as if it were a good thing. Sad commentary on the state of so many so called "Christian" churches.
That is a good definition of modern liberalism in the West.

@@pianomaly9859 I had to leave the only church I knew for 50 years after a huge tug of war inside that lasted over 2 years. I was never more angry and upset all week other than at the time I would walk out of that church every Sunday. The sad part is my parents go there, and it's very sad. A different Gospel, - different Jesus, and thus a different God. Liberalism is an Idol.

Listening to jesus word in the gospels, will guide you to jesus teaching. You will discern the fruit.
Pray that God may raise many times more instrumental men than RC Sproul, John Macarthur, Albert Mohler and...yet this does not diminish my admiration of RC Sproul. He was a gift to the Churches of Jesus Christ at the time God appointed for him. But none can say, God will not raise better men than him at this time for this generation.

This is very good. Two of the biggest ways the church went off the tracks are the fact that we don't have the same God whom Jesus had and that we have decided the law is dead when Jesus said the law would live till the end of the Earth.

What would RC Think about his buddies like Al Mohler and Ligon Duncan being involved in the social justice movement permeating the church to subvert its core messages.
I can only repeat his response during one of his Q & A presentations. "What's wrong with you people!" That's what I ask when I hear Al Mohler trying to play both sides.
Social Gospel is a distortion of Biblical Gospel. RC would have rejected it vehemently.
Social Gospel is rooted in Marxism, which in turn is rooted in Atheism.

The most interesting part to me was his challenge of the universal Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of Man. Now it's "the image of God" as a way to dismiss and control Christian belief. These ideas creep in and take over any real Christian content so easy and sound so good.

He didn't believe in the 6 day creation until 2006 because it didn't make sense according to "science." Instead, he believed the lie of a very old earth and admitting to teaching it for decades, so he mislead hundreds, if not thousands, of people. He was also a convert to preteritism with a loose interpretation of eschatology. He once called those who don't subscribe to his belief in Calvanism "wolves in sheeps' clothing." Yeah, such a great guy...
Does anyone know the date that Dr. Sproul did this lecture? I am trying to put it into context with where we are in dealing with liberalism in the church today.

The "Lord´s Recovery" or "Local Church" teaches it's dangerous to read the Word of God directly. They say you will misunderstand it, so you need a teacher´s interpretation. And they promote only one teacher, exclusively, i.e: Witness Lee. They say he was God´s appointed minister of the age, like a "Noah" for today, and that he interpreted the whole Bible accurately and apart from him and his ministry you cannot really understand the Bible.
