  • In Genesis 22, we read that God tested Abraham by commanding him to journey to a mountain and sacrifice his beloved son. How could God do such a thing? Could this really be His will? In this message, Dr. Sproul takes us through this dramatic story all the way to its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain.
This is the 4th in a series of messages by Dr. Sproul. See other videos in the series: • Classic Collection - R...

I had to stop this video half a dozen times to weep... I don't know how his audience managed to not weep. I would have had to leave the room every two minutes as he told the story of Hosanna. I have lost many pets in my life. I loved every one of them. I also lost my youngest daughter - a daughter that I loved with all my heart for 28 years. I am no stranger to that pain.

By far the best RC sermon I have ever heard and I've watched probably 100 videos. Just speechless how RC broke everything down until the end about Christ and really putting a perspective of what our heavenly father had felt.

Almost speechless. Brought tears to my eyes. How our heavenly Father must have felt when giving us His only begotten Son to die for us is something I don't think we'll ever fully comprehend on this earth.

here am I an Indian Christian brought to tears by the love of God. Breaks me to see my nation still pagan and a hater of the Living God.

Testimony: I’ve seen hours of ligonier footage and in my study today I wanted to go back on one these videos that I knew he covered Genesis 15 (one of RC’s favorite chapters and verses). But in doing so I saw this video. Closer to the end I teared up (sensitive heart), and can’t even fathom as to why he saved a sinner like me. This world is so wicked and evil but as I’ve been studying we realize that God is still on his throne. We realize that complete surrender to him is the ultimate wake up call to get stronger with him. Tests after tests after tests only provide us with more of his strength and understanding. The Lord Jesus Christ died for the sin of the world. I can’t even fathom when our savior was put on that cross how he felt knowing that the sins of the world were on his shoulders. I’m no theologian and I am no pastor but what I can say is that he was raised for our justification. Oh how high are the depths of Gods grace and mercy. Whoever is dealing pain. Whoever is dealing with sorrow. Jesus says that you can go to him. He says he will give you rest, and although your sins be like scarlet, he will wash them away and make you whiter than snow. For he that calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. I say this with tears in my eyes because we can never know the depths of Gods love on this plain. May God richly bless you with his grace and provide you with the knowledge of him to continue going forth in the power of HIS might.

I can't believe I live ten minutes from Ligonier, go to Linn run state park since I was a kid (in Ligonier) and never heard of RC until a year ago. And I'm 55 years old!

There is no one like RC. Very thankful for his expository preaching. Had the great privilege of meeting Mrs. Sproul, today at St. Andrews. It was great to hear the Gospel preached.

I think this is the most powerful sermon I've ever heard. Also one of the most emotionally stressful because I also had to put my German Shepherd down for the same reason. His total trust in me at that moment broke my heart. I couldn't relive that moment so I skipped over it, but I already knew the pain.

What a glorious Gospel! The scarlet thread of redemption is woven from the Old to the New Testament. Third time listening to this over the years and not once did it not move me to tears. We need to be reminded time and again of the manner of love the Father has bestowed on us by sending His Son to be the propitiation of our sins.
