Stef, as a really proud trans woman who has no problems with others knowing I'm trans, I've had my life threatened the one time I was 'clocked.' I think it's fairly legitimate for some women to worry and/or wonder about this concern, and as much as I absolutely adore you, your comment does feel condescending to those who've had these experiences.
Having said that, I do agree that we need to work on creating a world in which being clocked becomes a non-issue; it's just that we don't live in that world yet, and passing (at least to some small extent) is really important even in the most progressive settings as a survival mechanism. I'm sure a lot of trans women, particularly trans women of colour, would not be able to function even remotely without worrying about and addressing this whole issue of being clocked at least a little bit.
Also, yes, *some* of the onus is on trans women to change our world for the better, but I think a lot of this can be done by educating the public without necessarily exposing ourselves to violence. YOU and your videos are perfect examples of what I mean by this whole idea of trans women educating the public :)

Aww, I wish people wouldn't look down on styles. Scene style looks cool, and if people like that style, I think they should be able to enjoy it without people acting disgusted with it. It's a really picked on look, probably because it's loud, but I like seeing people happy and confident in their look, so I support anyone with their choice of style. I hope most would agree with me on that.
+Demonic Monica I absolutely agree with you! I would never put another person down for their choice in clothing, hair, make-up, or whatever else. I just look back at my own style choices and shake my head at myself - I would never look down on someone else's style choices. You should always dress to make yourself happy, never to make others like you.

There's this girl a little younger than me who still wears the scene/emo clothing, and she's been out of high school for about 5 years now. She still looks and acts like a teenager, as evidenced by her Facebook profile. It's hard to take an adult seriously when they're dressed like a depressed high schooler.

women's sizes are A paradox caught in between the dimensions of actual measurements and branding. don't feel bad that it's tricky. it's hard for many women.

I've watched many trans videos on "clocking" and I completely agree with you. It promotes the idea that a truly successful trans is one that passes 100% of the time. we had gender neutral bathrooms in my school but they were the only bathrooms and so i didn't use them because i didn't feel safe using bathrooms that boys could use, partly because i was bullied by a lot of boys but also because i was really unsure of my gender and sexuality and sometimes just wanted a place to get away and feel safe in.
it would have been so much cooler and better to have made a separate gender neutral bathroom but to have kept the boys and girls bathrooms because that way more people can feel safe and i personally feel so much more relaxed around other non-binary/ people who arent cis, whatever their gender is, than i do around cis people.

Some people do, yeah. Sometimes it's just a rude ass glance or look but other times it's directly aggressive or violent. This varies based on where you live, the mentalities and social foci of those areas.

Hey Stef! I had a question that is pretty important to me: what advise would you have for someone who wants to come out to their parents? I'm panromantic but I don't know how to tell my parents. Btw thanks for teaching me how I can love myself and for being an amazing role model! Lots of love :)
I'm also panromantic but I didn't tell my parents until I actually dated someone from the same sex (or someone that was 'different' to them.). Because it was easier to show that I was serious and it was not a 'phase'. Plus I didn't really see the 'need' to share it when it wasn't really needed.
I'm not that brave though. I could only see something like that going bad, although I think any relationship is normal. But props to you for having that courageousness :)
I know I'm not Stef, but trust yourself. Trust yourself to make that choice. Believe in yourself to do it. Because it's not the same for everyone. You will know if it's something that is okay. Or something you should hold off on. Understand your situation. I hate saying that, but our society just isn't there yet.
My family has always known my sister was trans. She was a toddler yelling at God for not having a penis. and they never made it out to be anything bad. My cousin is gay, he announced at Christmas. And everyone was like cool, hugs, kisses. Some already knew.
But my ex's mom found her diary and found out she was a lesbian and went bible lady bat shit crazy. And she had to spend years with a fake make bf and hiding everything.
So judge it.
But I think above all, your safety and security is the first thing to think about.
Usually families that are like that, tell their kids growing up that they better not be gay or you better never do this or that. So be careful trust yoursel

I've worn both womens and mens clothes(I would get hand-me downs because Im the youngest of 4) and you notice right away that like, the sizing for pants and shorts and stuff makes WAY more sense because its just your measurements?? Like what a great way to know your sizes and stuff but with womens clothes its like this hellish devilscape where different brands have different sizings and all you know is suffering. I think the sizing might be evening out between brands but tbh I avoid shopping like the plague so I cant be sure.

+Emmi Terez Ads before RUclips videos are how creators get paid. The 5 second ad allows us to eat food and pay rent - I know it's inconvenient but the only way we can not have ads is if we don't want to make money, and this is my job so I will be keeping the ads I'm afraid.
+Stef Sanjati I am happy to watch ads in order to support RUclipsrs! Sometimes I watch over an hour of RUclips videos in bed. It helps to relax after a stressful day. I don't watch TV but there it is normal to watch ads. I pay for Netflix. It's so important that creators earn money by their content! You wouldn't go in a Store and demand a product for free?

That's exactly how I feel about Gaga. And I've sat with friends who are older and lived their childhoods in the 80s-90s and they felt the same about Madonna. It's really interesting but how so many generations of queer people always have an icon of sorts to look up to
