I worked in a flower nursery. When the seedlings got to big for the seed trays we transplanted them into bigger trays and kept those in green houses or poly tunnels till planting time . That way we avoided any cold spell and they survived.

I agree with Sandra below, do not burn yourself out Jason. You and Brooke can afford to delegate some of the load there at the farm. Everything is coming along...pace yourself on all the work. I enjoyed this podcast. Thanks for being so human and normal. It is important to be humble and kind rather than always right about roses.

Omg speaking of new drivers reminded me of the time I was upstairs and there was a bang that shook the house. I went down and out the front door to see what happened and ran into my 16 year old coming in the house. I asked what happened ? He said 😳” oh you heard that “
No I felt that !!! It shook the whole house I told him. Well he forgot to put the car in park and got out only to have the car run into the house. Lesson learned. And the bricks are still cracked to this day. 😂and now he has teenagers driving.

I think ppl should ask questions with the "?" mark, so that you can have the Q & A with Tracy & Jason (pedalsfromthepast). You have never lied to anyone; or made us feel that your Mr. Know it all. Congratulations on number 100! The cost of nitrogen fertilize has quadrupled. I was watching another channel and they were talking about how liquid nitrogen fertilize went from $20 an acre to $80 an acre in one year. Of course this was in North Carolina and prices vary according to location but it is something to think about.

I’ve personally learned that you have to ask for help sometimes in order to enjoy the fruits of your labor as time goes on. Both of you work extremely hard on your farm. However, you don’t want your body broken down trying to accomplish so many things that you can’t enjoy the finished product. There are sooo many projects I’m sure you will want to complete on your farm that will be physically and mentally challenging. Don’t wear yourselves out. Take some time to enjoy the roses.😁😁

You get Brent to finish the interior of your Mom's house, and you will find things will go so much faster. It comes down to what you have in the Cog Hill 40 budget. I have been thinking from day 1 how you would be able to fit in doing all that interior work on your house. Brent the Builder is your answer. Sheetrock installation and all the taping is a chore and takes special lifting equipment to reduce the effort. Also consider finding a good painting contractor for the interior. Sealing and priming sheetrock can be a disaster if you do it wrong. I tackled such a job when we finished our basement. I can only say that luck was on my side (it certainly wasn't skill). I rented a sprayer to spray sealer/primer on the drywall. I did not know that too much sealer will ruin an expensive sheetrock install (this was pre-internet/no RUclips time). I had never done this kind of job before (a rank newbie) so I had no idea what I was doing. God must have been guiding my hands during that sealant/primer spraying task as it was a success.

I think you should keep the tiny house too! Over time you will have SO MANY uses for it--and don’t forget MaryCarl! No doubt she could make good use of it for a workshop or office or animal infirmary. For the investment you put into it this tiny house will pay for itself many times over.

Using the tiny house as a guest house is a great idea. You might want to keep it in the same location because of the plumbing and septic systems already there, just a thought.

In the past in central CA we used smudge pots. Then we went to wind machines but now it’s sprinklers. I love the almond, peach and apricots blossoms.
My Hoss seeds are popping up.

Someone wrote a book in which the basic premise was do what you love, repeatedly, and then hire the best person you can afford to do the rest. The key to success. You got to do what makes you a living or none of it's a factor.

Hi guys! I have a suggestion for the flower farm...I would also plant a rowe of baby`s breath, those very fragile looking tiny white flowers and a whole bunch of them on 1 stem-florists use them a lot to make their bouuets look fuller- that and then all kind of decorative leafes as yall know! I makes the main flower color pop! I BET Malabar spinach grows very well in your heat since it is a summer spinach vine that comes from India! Did yall ever tried that? Imagine being able to harvest the up to handsize big leaves all through the summer! Go bless!

Here in FL, I can grow the green stem malabar spinach all summer. Makes great vines, thick edible stems on the green variety too. I wouldn't eat it raw though, it has the same sort of mucilage that okra boasts, not very nice to eat raw.

Looking forward to seeing what the flower garden looks like.🌻✌👍🌻

Jason, please don't beat yourself up about what you said about the roses. You have so much going on with the farm, the aviary, the fruit trees, planting the flower seeds and on and on. The roses are a new thing and you are pro active to go to the class about roses, no one would fault you for making a little mistake and you rectified it. I can't believe you keep all you do straight, you do a great job of it! Brooke, the story about the coats just shows how resourceful you are and such a "go getter" I really admire you for that! I love the Bear story, poor baby waiting for his buddies to show up and wondering where they are. I'm sure the whole crew loves it that Bear is there to supervise, I know I would love it! 🥰🥰🥰

Remember you are pruning in your area...Other parts of the country have different dead line dates to prune for them.... I cut mine in Dec for the end of the year/season.... cutting them one third usually means 6 weeks for the maturity for the next set of blooms but if you cut, during the blooming season, say 6 inches to an, quarter inch above, outside bud then you have a week or so for the next blooms to show up..... Spree roses or multi flowers if you cut the center flower bud before blooms out of the spree the others will be a little larger!!!! Then there are roses like the Butterfly Rose, Mutabilis Rose.... I never dead head the flowers, It would take a day to do so!!!! This rose grows to be 8 foot on the ground in circle...4 to 5 foot tall.....

I grew up in the Fruit Belt along Lake Michigan. Frost was a double edged sword. If a lot of peoples fruit got wiped out the others made a lot of money. We would wake up to the sound of the engine’s pumping water for the sprinklers.
