In my humble opinion - this is one of the most relevant, real feedback for ČZ Uherský Brod :-) (y) Anyway, thanks a lot for your very interesting and qualified videos - and good luck for you and all your fellow soldiers.
its so interesting to hear firearms reviews based off of recent combat experience. regardless of anyones view of the conflict, this is a very insightful and worth watching and subscribing to just to hear of first and second hand accounts of modern firearms and technology in current use.
The reason for the bolt hold open/release mechanism inside the trigger was because the Czech military wanted a bolt release that could ambidextrous. I agree it’s weird, but it’s because of the military’s “needs” at the time.
Nice! Those informations are gold. Even Iam Czech, Iam glad that you make such review. I love CZ guns, but you pointed out the weakspots that no one would know, because you work with it in combat. Basically there no chance to make best weapon for combat from nothing. Designers need informations, complaints of soldiers, to make it better. I love my CZ Bren 2 MS, they updated even more stuff with the MS version and you can get HBI handguards that will cover either 10.8” or 13.8” which is great for the 11” and 14”!
Now, that's the kind of guy that you can really respekt! Instead of just bitching about the weapon, he sets out to systematically look for the cause of their almost-fatal problems...and, when you face these possible fatal problems, you can bet that most guys just want to trash it...instead, you found a cause, and solution, and have a good weapon in hand.

He can only give so many opinions of gear that he actually uses in the field (Ukraine war).. Though he might not of specifically seen/used Canadian c7/8's, he pretty much said he prefers an ar15 to the bren2.. Which the c7/c8 is just a Canadian licensed model of the ar15 patent made by Colt Canada(formerly Diemaco).
You can switch the bren 2 charging handle to work on either side of the rifle. I had to do it because my optic I wanted to use on it right now has finger knobs for tightening that stick out too far and scrape my nuckles on the left side with the charging. For switching, you simply reinstall the charging handle on the right just like you would put the rifle back together for cleaning.
As a British man, bayonets are no laughing matter. I can guarantee you some British volunteer in ukraine dreams of a glorious bayonet charge even today 😸 Also thank you for your videos Val 🇺🇦🏴
The second-most terrifying thing an opponent hears from the British is "FIX BAYONETS". The first most terrifying thing is bagpipes. If there are any Aussies still fighting over there, I hope there's one looking for a horse so he can use the bayonet as a sabre.
@@randomclipsmilitary9056 I’m having a joke. Yeah bayonets are rarely used but they still have applicable purpose. Why wouldn’t there be blades? Blades have worked all of history, they still work now. P.S. the joke is artillery and bullets don’t discriminate but you can’t relate (you discriminate). It’s not funny at all.
So looking back some of your other videos and reading between the lines we can break the gun question down to: If it's a serious event try get an AK74 and you'll be good? :D Stay safe Val!

I’m sure some sort of rail extension will come out for those rifles. The scar suffers from a similar issue on that front and the aftermarket made some very decent solutions
It gives people the real estate to mount lasers/lights with their accompanying switches and a good amount of rail space to properly grip the rifle. Gripping around the laser/light is doable but far from ideal.

CZ played fuk-fuk games with crucial bolt dimensions making it semi only. Forgetting details but factory machine gun post samples imported were definitely different. Highly doubt they got them cuz 5.56 is a desirable inclusion but would have been spared the worst
the bolt release is in the trigger guard so its ambidextrous and you can use it while loading a mag. just put your little finger on the bottom of the mag and hook your thumb in the trigger guard and when the mag is stopped use the thumb to drop the bolt. the mag release needs a fence on the bottom
Just a small tip. You can turn your front site to gain some space on BRENs handguard. It's not a lot but it is going to make your life a bit easier. You will also need to zero you irons, but it is not big deal. I so not have personal problem with left side mag release, but it could be a bit shorter. It's normal price for a handguard It also weighs about the same as the civilian mlok, so probably weighs less than the mil picatinny. The original bren handguard is way overbuilt.
When it comes to nato/usgi spec rifles in rain+sandy conditions, the metal usgi mags seem to suffer from ftf/ friction when they get wet sand in them; whereas the polymer mags (especially magpul pmags) seem to handle it a lot better with less feed issues.
Suppressors aren't super common there for multiple reasons. Availability being one. There tends to be a ton of automatic fire, unlike US based tactics. This tends to cause much more fouling leading to more maintenance. Thermals are also being used very commonly and many suppressors glow like a beacon under thermals. Even the good ones, such as the RC2, will eventually heat up to the point with sustained fire. They still have their place for DA raids and snoop and poops but that's the last thing a regular dude on the front lines wants...a thermal drone beacon
