At those altitudes you are flying in at least CAT 7 winds. Drone did fine all things considered. The Nano+ would have ended up in the next country!
Yup 😂
@Chaney Lin I’m glad I didn’t buy a nano now.
Another great video, sir! And the drone did an admirable job!
I recently discovered your channel and viewed your most recent videos. I have my Mini 3 ordered and I can't wait to fly it. I completely enjoy your enthusiasm and joy for the hobby. You're amazing!!
Thank you so much
Amazing test, thank you very much !!!! Im waiting my M3Pro on next week. Best regards from Barcelona !
Excellent Information and Wind Test 👌
Happy Flying!
one of the fun drone reviewer i adore on youtube! nice test in strong wind! wind drifting is one major issue of concern.
Very nice. You always make me laugh, thanks for the video.
Love your channel.
Just got my first drone the mavic mini and love it. 👍👍👍
When you are running at maximum battery load, the drone can maintain altitude, but not hold position against a strong headwind. Or, it can hold position against the wind, but not hold altitude. Maximum energy is going out of the battery. It has to be divided between vertical lift and horizontal thrust. Under extreme conditions, one or both will have to give. All the same, that's pretty impressive. I can't wait for my Mini 3 Pro to arrive.
Nice vlog. Appears the Plus batteries perform even better than the stock, sub 250g configuration.
I think with little juice left in the battery, it couldn’t supply enough power to fight the wind and keep the drone at the desired height, even though the battery wasn’t at the return to home voltage (the bar was still red and maximum battery load warnings were showing).
I just knew wind resistance would be one of the strengths of the Mini 3. Understandable circumstances here, no disappointments.
How cool, I just typed in the exact text in the uv data and went to google earth pro, I am looking at the exact park you fly in and where you are standing there. I always wondered exactly where you are and now I can see that. I recognized it immediately. How Cool.
I ordered the Mini 3 with the RC controller and the fly more Plus package. It will be a while before I receive it but I have all my others for now so will await its delivery.
I received a 5% discount and free expedited 2-3 day shipping so am really going to love this baby. Goog to see you out and about and with you well. God Bless, Ray C Florida USA
WOW impressive drone.😲👍😁👀🌬️🌬️. It's a amazing drone. It handled the winds great. I'm impressed with the mini 3 drone.
Very stable. Not bad at all. Thank you so much for sharing this video and God bless. It's a beast.👍😁
Good test
Fin test Henrik !!! Imponerende stabilitet for Mini 3 Pro under disse forhold !
Thumbs up well done, full view 👍
It did very well given all the challenging conditions including battery full load.
my question is, can it maintain forward motion in that wind with the battery load warning, you only advanced a very short distance? I pounded my mini 1 at 120m over the sea at Folkestone returning in S mode at 1.2m/s for 200m with no issues, that's 27.8mph headwind with a top speed of 29mph
I think it has to do with barometric pressure changes. My original Mavic Pro did that during stormy weather conditions. What’s alarming is that you couldn’t climb and it’s uncommanded descent. That will certainly cause a loss of a drone over water. Great video. The stress tests help us learn the capabilities and limitations.
So if you're above water you be in a dire situation?
@@carlosishac8954 IF you have uncontrollable descent. I’ve never had problems flying over water. IStormy weather just brings extra issues to consider before putting your drone in the air. My Mini 2’s compass had issues during an electrical storm. No wind, but lots of cloud to cloud lighting. Im sure pressure changes affect the aircraft”s ability to maintain altitude, but ignoring control inputs is concerning. I still like what I’m seeing in the Mini 3 though.
This could be a fail safe designed into the battery to prevent too much power draw causing a brown out or power failure. Better to reduce power than allow the drone to fall out of the sky.
Also would have been nice to have the Fly app icon showing the drone angle rather than the map.
Wauuu fantastis
If you're going to use it as a "Burner Drone" , I'd like you to do a test where you test the obstacle avoidance by flying it at a wall in different speeds
Hmm 🤔
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA please test backward sensor test
@@AdilErtKaya the angle it flying backwards the rear sensors won't be that effective .I think of evolution when they made the air 2 .then the air 2s was a evolution with top forward sensors to compensate tilt angle for obstacles avoiding. Air 2s is a great design. My opinion
Would like to see range tests with the cheaper controller. Shame you can't use the bigger battery in your country.
can you go and fly around the "bird lady`s" house, that would make a REALLY interesting video 😂😂
Spændende og god video! 😉
One thing I'm really curious about is the speed while the camera is pointed straight down at 90 degrees. I was really hoping this wouldn't be limited like my mini 2 which slows to a crawl when pointed straight down, but it looks like its the same with the mini 3 pro?
Thanks.. good to know not to go flying in very extreme wind conditions with a sub-250 drone
After playing with the drone for a few days, do you regret selling your Air2s?
Still waiting for the full Bird Lady story 😅
I watched another vid on the mini 3 and I was not impressed with how it followed the guy on his scooter. The turns were way too wide. Hey thanks for showing the app, I just downloaded it :)
It lowered altitude because of the full battery load. It didn't have enough power to sustain altitude
Exactly. With only so much power available, the drone had the choice of either (a) maintaining lat/lng or (b) maintaining altitude; it simply couldn't do both. I think it made the right decision to maintain lat/lng and slightly decrease the altitude (as opposed to maintaining altitude and drifting away with the wind). And, don't forget: it did give early warning that the battery was under full load.
Thanks for another great video about the Mini 3, well done. I have the Air 2S and the Mavic 3 with the RC Pro thus I will not buy the Mini 3 until it is compatible with the RC Pro. I live on the southern part of Vancouver Island about 1.3 km from the ocean, I’m in an area where wind can be an issue and sudden wind gust and change of wind direction are common. I do a lot of flying over the ocean and along the beach. I don’t think that I would be confident leaving home with the only Mini 3 on a windy day because of the changing weather conditions. The idea of buying the Mini 3 is to have a small lightweight drone that I can carry in a small light weight drone case along with my RC Pro not two drones just in case the winds are too strong to fly the Mini 3. I will continue to watch RUclips videos reviews before I will make a decision about buying the Mini 3. I would only buy the Mini 3 with the larger batteries.
It might be lowering in altitude automatically due to the battery overload message.
I wonder Hendrik if you started loosing altitude as a safety feature due to high battery loads. Maybe if you ignore that warning the firmware will reduce power to the motors bringing it down to a lower altitude where the battery isn't under maximum load
dito, High Battery was on high load and Battery Level under 30 %. Nice Safety feature.
Thanks for pushing that DJI mini to the max. We have a mini II and really love it. We live near the shore of Lake Superior so there is always wind. My husband really enjoyed watching this video. 🙋♀️🙌🏻
Miles per hour? Oh gosh - you are from Europe! Thank for fantastic material! :)
Hehe a lot is watching from over there
Wow that's great! Thanks. BTW, what is the app you are using to show the wind speed, etc?

@@TECHDRONEMEDIA Thanks!
Does it perform better then Autel nano after the latest firmware in mind?
👍👍✌️
I’m really wanting to know how strong the RC pro controllers connection to the drone, when it comes to the it being behind obstacles and such.
Yes good topic
Me too please!!! Seems as if the normal controller might be stronger?!
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA please do the range test
Check Rainmaker Channel out his pro 3 kept disconnecting not to far away.
Thanks.
I watched the 'DC Rainmake'r Mini 3 extreme wind test, and every time he got the 'Battery full load' message, his signal dropped down !
So does anyone know why it won't go into rth when it's showing strong wing warnings?
Can you fly the mini 3 pro vs mini 2 side by side for wind test.
And they said the mini 3 pro speed is slower than mini 2 in Normal mode
My dji FPV drone does the same thing pauses at a certain height. Won’t go any higher in some scenarios
Would be interesting to see the Nano+ and an Air2S under same conditions…
Air 2s would handle that situation with ease and I've never seen a battery overload warning either, and in strong winds he only got 16min of flying. It's a fail in my opinion.
@@carlosishac8954 How is it a fail? It wasn't made to fly in these sorts of conditions. I thought it did well. In my opinion, the Mini 3 Pro is meant for people that want to fly it without getting drone pilot certification; in my country micro drones have very few restrictions, which is a big benefit over the Air 2s.
Question for you: Will we be able to install apps such as Litchi onto the RC Controller ? I use Litchi for way point Missions so this may be the decider for me !!
No
I would like to know if you can use your 45w phone charger to charge the mini 3 ? And if you can how much faster it is than the 30w charger ? Also will it damage the batteries? Thanks for your great content, Denmark looks beautiful
Use google about how chargers work.... More watts doesn't always mean faster charging. Batteries can't take unlimited power so no matter do you use 30w or 100w charger.
Thanks for the videos. What is the wind forcast software?
UAV Forecast
Thanks
hello, does the battery full load warning still appear when flying in strong winds after the recent firmware updates?
I have not seen it lately
How do I locate my mini three drone if I lose it??…
Hi Henrik, I have the Mini 3 Pro RC pre ordered but a few people are complaining of stuttering video. Have you noticed any of this in your recordings up to now?
Yes I have - you can see it my videos
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA Urghhhh not good. I wonder if this is something which can be fixed in a FW update ?
not bad
I think because of the same technical parameters regarding wind resistance as the mini 2 there shouldn't be something surprising.
You could hoover mate… see how fast battery drops when you move few meters! I bet no more than 3 min straight forward on N mode!!!
Looks like it handled the high winds very well for a sub 250g drone. This is great news. Can the geofencing be hacked out yet?
Check drone hacks but it won't be available for a while.
did you find a reason why it stops at 70m and how it suddenly moved higher?
No
Seems your really seeing a big limitation of such a light drone. It’s blasting so hard to stay in place and wow 😮, the battery 🪫 drained so fast. Surprised it could barely move forward. I think my Mini 2 does a better job in the heavy wind then that one does. Camera 📷 is crap 💩 in the wind 🌬 and the Mini 3 does so much better then my mini 2 for sure.
Glad I went for the DJI Air 2s. Registering with the FAA isn’t that big of a deal and you don’t have to play stupid games of is it 249 grams or is it over a gram or two? 5 bucks every three years isn’t any big deal. Glad I made the move.
Thanks for the video.
I see a lot of this battery overload I dji put bigger propellers on small motors they struggle to compensate. We will see a lot more of battery overload and qwick drainage as more people obtain this so drone. Dji engineers should of fitted slightly bigger motors and keep under 250g
😎🤟🏼🤝
More I see footage from mini 3, more I wanna stay with my Air2S
I hear you,,same here
Can you test range? How far can it fly?
Yes but takes a bit of planning :-)
And just ignore all red things! LOL!
I’m color blind
Big warning about this!
I flew my mini 3 in strong wind and it worked perfectly.
But when i was gonna fly back in the head wind, the drone could not go more thant 1.3m/s.
It was like it was standing still and it took like 8min to go 500m.
I strongly recomend everyone to test the drone in strong headwind to see how it behave.
Hi. Has you find frequent issues with flying in the wind? I had a mini 2 and had to sell because this reason. Got an air 2 and worked well. I'm in the process of updating and was thinking the mini 3pro. But I'm afraid I'm going to be back with issues in the wind. I live in toronto and it's pretty windy
@@dan5g931 It has to be pretty windy for it to be a problem, but i still think its a problem way to often.
I have never had any other drone, but i think the weight of the drone matters quite a lot.
Even if i can fly most of the times, i still think its a prolemand i have been thinking of bying some other, heavier drone.
Also, i dont think the camera is the best on the mini 3.
The zoom is basicly unusable and its only 2x in 4k.
Maybee the mavic 3, it is much heavier, have longer battery time, and much better camera, but then its like 1500 usd or something, so its a big difference in price.
@josefinandersson7646
Thank you for the feedback. The air 3 would be around 400 more for me, considering adding the fly more combo plus. It's a tough call.
Hi I know this question is irrelevant to this video. I have a dilemma to either buy the rc or the normal remote. I want to be able to put Goggle on every now again. Now the question is would the rc pro remote be able to work with goggle as you need to put the phone in the goggle or even pair up with any digital Goggles like the dji vr or fatshark. Many thanks
I don’t recommend flying any drones at high wind. What could that be the battery 🔋 cells going bye bye! You get the same thing when you push the battery to its limits with FPV drones. But hey! why not? If your drone falls from the sky is a DJI free functionality. Now, I do fly my built fpv drones in the 75mph sand storm! super fun when you see trees branches passing near the camera.
Hehe yes - The one I have is not even mine so I need to test the crap out of it
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA hahahaha! good one! People should worry about flying on the wind, yes, it can handle the wind for a while before it falls from the sky or hit something on return home
It lowered altitude becase the battery was fully loaded. This means that there was not enogh power to maintain altitude
Make sense, the UI is flooded med warnings så der er nok at holde øje med :-)
After seeing this i'm pretty sure I have a broken gimbal, mine is shaking like crazy when there is a little wind.
Ate you going to show the bird lady video buddy ? 🙏
Yes but right now I wanna show the drone while most others are grounded
What’s the range max for this drone in EU. I read 12 km but i guess that’s not in the Eu?
In the EU 8 km, but not allowed. ;-)
VLOS
@@hondaslex i know but the longer the range, the better connection i get in urban environment.
@@tonyrobinson362 Just to get an indication. Longe range connection gives also better connection in urban environment VLOS
I have never seen heavy Battery load warnings before! Is it something new with the mini3??
Nope. Also on the Mini and Mini 2. I believe it's a safety warning due to the light weight of the quad.
@@up2u162 did not have it on my mini2 - even against strong wind
@@Chorge1972 "strong wind" is subjective. Rainmaker and DroneXfactor both have posted vids of wind tests with the 2 and both show the warning.
@@kylemnoble LiIon in general is NOT weaker than LiPo! This is a misunderstanding that most people have. Everybody thinks that LiPo is better than LiIon, but that’s not true…
Nope, seen it on my Phantom 3 pro..
if you order the full package RIGHT NOW, you will get it not until July 1. Cheaper packages not until August.
Stick with your Mini 2.
Is it faster than the mini 2?
3mph faster :/
thats not a safety feature... the drone has to lean into the wind to go forward. when doing this, the vector changes to the back AND down, you mix these and you will not have enough lift to keep the altitude. that stress was just too much for this little thing. you can try this out by yourself on a freestyle acro drone. if you fly straight with a throttle that you keep the altitude, and you go faster (more pitched forward) AND you DO NOT ADD more throttle, you will loose altitude. since the mini was at maximum throttle already, there was no chance to keep the altitude AND go faster (fly home in your case).
Theese tiny sub 250 quadcopters are not good for Winds.Ok it is Flying but the stress at motors, props, esc and battery is huge.
Will the new Pro remote fly the Mini 2 & Air 2S ?
Ive been looking for this answer for awhile now
And why then unexpected problems? The Mini 3 is doing a great job, despite the owner ignores strong wind warnings.
Why is nobody complaining about no prop holder? You can't put it in your pocket without one.
In the fly more combo?
I know your just testing it out in high winds for a review. But who flys a mini drone in high winds. What's the point in risking losing it or stressing the motors out.
3 th yay
what happened with that lady ?
I’ll make a video about it
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA I am thinking about printing out the drone code for sub 250g drones if anyone ask you can then show it to them on paper. but still, leave if there not nice. unlike DJ AUDITS

i just realized something... its always a lady that comes out and be like "you cant fly here" lol it's hardly ever a guy
I had a guy - the birdman (video is on the channel)
I know this is a wind test but I cant help but comment about the beautiful footage and how rich the colors are.
It is amazing to see the stability of the camera despite the crazy moves of the mini3 drone in the gusty wind. Even my AIR 2S did not behave so well...!!👍
I am glad I sold my AIR2S and purchased the mini 3PRO. Still waiting for the delivery, ...and to know where we will be able to buy the "battery plus" option...?
Any info from the community is welcome 😀
The initial Mini 3 Pro vs Nano + video the nano did so bad in the wind that he had to change the test target to something else so the nano could even compete so for those of you hating on the Mini 3 Pro on this test, steer clear from the Nano+ then 😂
