For people with no context, Masa's restaurant is the only Michelin 3 star sushi omakase in North America and probably the most expensive sushi restaurant on the continent. It costs a 1000$ to eat there.
Chef Masa delivered! Also, my personal philosophy about spicy tuna (and any other roll / sushi that involves adding a bunch of other ingredients to flavor the fish) is that you don't need the best quality fish. It is a versatile dish because if you really think about what aspects of the fish meat quality degrade the lower quality you get, its stuff like the flavor and the texture. With spicy tuna, its standard to mince it up and add a lot of sauce to it. I would even dare to say that cutting small chunks (similar preparation to Hawaiian Poke style) could work with a lower quality tuna. However, if you have a beautiful tuna, don't ruin it with all of these condiments. Quality ingredients deserve to stand out and the best way to do that is by keeping it simple.
What a breathe of fresh aire to hear people talk about sushi and not be super gatekeepy about it. Expecially someone like Masa literally at the top of the industry. Really awesome.
That sadistic laugh the chef has was hilarious. It was like he was trying to get a reaction and she kept trying to pretend like she wasn't reacting but then he really ramped up the heat and she couldn't resist. That was great. Hahahaha.
Masa was great to see, but I actually valued Esther Choi's investigation of the origin spicy tuna roll itself, the most. Esther is very engaging. She's a great host/narrator for episodes like this. Thanks for an interesting food episode where I learned that Esther is definitely someone I want to see her lead shows like these more. Well done!😀
What a lovely man, Chef Masa is and you are such a gracious and appreciative guest! Wonderful experience! I'm home sick in bed with nasty Covid, bet a spicy tuna roll would knock it right out!
Yooo this is my favorite food show on RUclips Esther and Bill are so great. I love the way Esther shares these moments with us, when I’m feeling down this show helps bring me up
That spicy tuna roll was just so beautiful with every layer. So colorful and interesting. I'd love to try it. Even though spicy is less my jam, it looked so good, I'd try it anyway. And I'd probably try it a few more times to be sure lol. Def gimme that curry though. Spice gets a pass with me if it's curry.
I normally watch youtube videos as background noise. But whenever I click on a Heat Eaters video, I pay 100% full attention. Please don't let the Buzzfeed acquisition ruin the quality. Hoping to see more Heat Eaters!
Learning how to prepare a meal from a chef,he’s showing how and what it takes to make a delicious dish.he have’s his favorite style on how to prepare dishes you will never forget.,he work his magic, with his recipes to bring out the best flavor in the dish.
Auntie Esther in da house, fiuohhhh! I like the way Masa has adapted to the American palate in some instances, and even challenged her successfully with the spice, which is not typical in Japan, though they do have some, e.g. togorashi. And he was verry gracious. Great episode! And cameraman Bill, what can I say? I wanna party with that guy some day...
I'm also mad wasabi all the time. I steal everybody's wasabi if they aren't using it. You two ladies were a joy to watch having a good time. I'm jealous of that Master sushi presentation, especially that spicy tuna roll with those peppers. Where can I get that curry? My mouth is watering. Masa is a great character for an episode like this.
The funny thing about the pop references, eating sushi. I never observed having grown up in the 80s. I started loving sushi in the 80s of my own volition because I love textures and tastes, and the spicy tuna and spicy salmon became that extra bit of umami Vava Voom that I enjoyed.
I kind of wanted them to buy the fresh wasabi in the store and a grater and hand grate it for their supermarket sushi. We got the fresh wasabi shot in the end though. Such a charming video from the host and the guest chef side. It does seem only right that someone else join her in eating the spicy ones that will mess her up.
I love habaneros - they have so much flavor beyond their heat. But eating a half of one on a maki, plus jalapenos, plus habanero puree in the sauce - that's gonna be HOT!
my gateway to sushi was my uncle who bought California rolls from Publix. Then I met my step-dad and he introduced me to real sushi at a Japanese restaurant. Sadly due to my allergies to shellfish my sushi options are limited. I love curry too.
Sushi is the only way I can eat tuna or salmon. My favorite rolls are the spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Although, the sushi I have tried doesn't appear too be as hot as the ones you tried.
*Thumbs up if you think chef Masa knew and succeeded in the assignment! 🫡🌶️🔥*
👍
My parents said if i get 100k followers They'd buy me a professional camera for recording. begging u guys, literally Begging.😮❤🎉
Wow chef Masa, to be served by him would be a dream come through 👍
Felicitaciones al chef! Arriba el habanero ❤
He seems so cool
I love how chef Masa waits for and lights up anytime the spice messes aunty Esther up😂😂😂
You can see in his eyes how much he adores her reaction to his cuisine. This whole video was so wholesome.
@@exDivinityFPS yes! Exactly
Heat Eaters has quickly become one of my favorite FWF series, and Esther can REALLY take the spice! GG!

Such pretentious pricing
@@HevaNaisdey well if the demand is that high then their prices can be whatever they want right?
@@HevaNaisdey only if you can't afford it
Waste of money! Make it yourself and dont add so much spice that it makes you cringe! Ppl will overpay for anything these days
masa's knife skill is insane
He's so elegant
He was trained old school. To become a true sushi chef takes years something like 10 years
I love chef Masa so much. I wish he had his own show.
He comes across as a genuinely great guy.
Chef Masa is amazing! Truly takes joy in feeding other people, and look at his cheeky smile when they react to the heat! An absolute treasure!
Chef Masa is awesome. I love how much joy he takes in everyone's reactions. What a legend.

This was one of the best episodes yet, they're all great but chef Masa was so genuine ❤️
Chef Masa at his best and Esther in her element. Absolutely must-see entertainment at its best
What a breathe of fresh aire to hear people talk about sushi and not be super gatekeepy about it. Expecially someone like Masa literally at the top of the industry. Really awesome.

Masa's is a great experience. That's a $950/person experience, probably more for Masa himself, as opposed to their dining room at $750/person.
For that money I'd rather do 1000 other things to be honest.
Wow 950 dollar a dinner? Thats crazy
If Chef Masa could make Esther buckle from the curry, we stand no chance...😂
Glad to see Esther can get curry heat on by Chef Masa! 👏👏👏
That laugh from Chef Masa is so wholesome. You gotta like the man!
I wish Takayama San was my grandpa! What an amazing humble man. Love this episode! Definitely making the trip down from Boston to go to Masa!
Chef is having fun watching her eat his spicy curry dish.

From Flushing to Masa, gotta love Esther, she's the best!
I am a Sansei, and I love the give and take you had with Chef, mixed with respect

Ester you're one brave chick. I couldn't do it. Count this guy out. 🤣Seeing Chef Masa was a real treat, he knew the assignment. 💙

Things like this makes me nostalgic from when I was an E-5 stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Man, man, man. Those were the days.

Thank you for giving us more pepper growing inspiration
i would soooo very much enjoy working for/with chef masa for a while. Not only for his cooking, but for the way he is.
I'm also mad wasabi all the time. I steal everybody's wasabi if they aren't using it. You two ladies were a joy to watch having a good time. Not my usual you tube fare. I have to admit though, I'm totally hooked, such great content. Thank you Esther!
That spicy tuna roll looked delicious
Chef Masa is a legend
I mix horseradish mayo with my tuna for lunch 😋 😅❤
It's funny to see Chef Masa laugh at people that are suffering from his spice, haha. Would love to try his version of spicy tuna
Great job. Love, spicy, tuna, roll, or a spicy tuna hand roll.
Love how the spice almost made Esther go cross-eyed 🤣
I wish Chef Masa was my Personal Chef. I would come back again very quickly. ❤
Chef Masa is handsome Ida loved to meet him he seems so humble
This was a great episode. Thank you .
“I win” he’s so adorable!
Habanero es de mexico, para el mundo❤

My first sushi experience was Japanese Steak House in Columbus Ohio when I was about 13 and it was life changing.
He gets a kick outta making people's mouths burn...😂
IT'S SO SPICY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Esther is a Spice BEAST
I wish I could try this!❤
What a strange journey, loved it!

Funny how Esther was cross eyed for a sec eating the curry😂
Absolutely brilliant ❤
When is the next episode??? I love these.
Love the Heat Eaters series.
Dame how lucky to be served by Chef Masa.
I discovered Masa through Bourdain. Still in awe of him.
This series should have been called Heaters!
I love habaneros - they have so much flavor beyond their heat. But eating a half of one on a maki, plus jalapenos, plus habanero puree in the sauce - that's gonna be HOT!
