- Andrew Zimmern is a chef, restaurateur, author, and Emmy Award-winning food TV pioneer. You can catch his latest series, Family Dinner with Andrew Zimmern, Sunday nights on Magnolia Network, and Wild Game Kitchen is coming later this year to Outdoor Channel. But how is he with spicy food? Zimmern may have traveled the globe eating chilies in Northern Thailand and mala hot pot in Chengdu, but he's never faced hot sauces like Da Bomb and The Last Dab Apollo. Watch him check "Hot Ones" off his bucket list and share wisdom on everything from the cultural significance of supermarkets, to how birria tacos took over social media.

Typical chef response tbh! 🤣🤣
That laugh before hand plus this line is hilarious

fitting, he used to be a crackhead. seriously. glad he turned his life around.
Many years ago Andrew went to Indian, Alaska to Indian Valley meats to try “moose nose jelly” made by my grandfather and the happiness it brought him for Andrew and the show to come see him was unimaginable. He couldn’t wipe a smile off his face for months. He died in 2020 while I was on my way to Afghanistan and if he went through some of his happiest moments in his life as he took his last breath, I would bet that his time with Andrew was pretty up there. Thank you Andrew
I'm positive your grandfather is in heaven smiling now as you continue to mention him and his work. Very touching story.
I remember that episode and absolutely love AZ's excitement about the Moose Nose Jelly...
@@nitev4407 yeah Doug Drum is my grandfather, it was a lot of buzz when they got the call about the episode and when we all got to meet Andrew. Was really cool
I remember that episode... It was great
Wow that's touching. Condolences btw but that's great to hear.
This guy and Anthony Bourdain gave me countless afternoons of entertainment and opened my mind to the beauty of sharing unique cultural cuisine around the world. Every child should have role models like this
Same, I'm pretty disappointed at the food channel now, its one big competition. Nothing of adventure or cooking for pleasure.
Me too! I watched their shows back to back on the Travel Channel.
He is the best food guy ever. He being a recovering addict and alcoholic makes me love him even more! As a fellow person in recovery, he is an inspiration
seems like a person who wants to enjoy things for real and not be dependent on addictive stuff.
Congratulations on your recovery journey and may you rediscover the things that bring you true joy!
I hear that, when I was in massive withdrawal in rehab I watched nothing but bizarre foods and he helped get me through it. He’s always my number one foodie
Anthony Bourdain was the one with the addiction not Andrew Zimmerman
@@mykalbutler9619 Andrew battled with addiction for quite sometime. He actually tried to commit suicide because he was so lost and at the bottom... You've gotta hear his story, it's truly inspiring to see where he came from to where he is today.
I love that Andrew continues to advocate for food access in America, as well as the challenges facing farmers and the people who work at restaurants. Thank you for giving him the space to talk about those issues!
Its unfortunate he doesn't understand the actual challenges facing farmers and ranchers. He would just rather espouse pointless rhetoric that will make sure America faces its own Holdormort situation.
@@justarandomname420 Holodomor? The soviet famine or something else? I looked up Holdormort and Google kept changing it to Voldemort. Lol.
Anyways, if it's the Soviet famine, it makes sense... the US never officially acknowledged it as a thing. I lived near a lot of dairys and it used to anger me to see gallons and gallons of milk dumped because farmers have to continue milking their cows, but the state told them they could only sell so much of it to keep prices where they wanted it.

"They had a vowel movement."
That statement owned me! This is a great episode!
I died! I’m so glad someone caught that!!
This is the first Hot Ones that actually made ME cry. It seems so bonkers to me that we as a species follow the example of some of the most disconnected, self-aggrandizing, arrogant and entitled people when there're thoughtful solutions to real problems presented by wise and caring people. I can hear in Andrew's voice a sort of resigned acceptance that people won't internalize the information he's giving, that he sees what's coming and knows we won't fix it, but he and many like him are going to keep giving us the tools. I admire him and the ways in which he uses his energy, time and passion. I hope more people start following his example.
There's definitely room for improvement. But I don't see a good solution if we want our food "globalized." What the food industry has become is because "WE" demanded it. Our favorite foods EVERYWHERE, ANYTIME, and AFFORDABLE. It's an impossible task any way you slice and try to fix it.
You make it "healthy and organic" and now it costs to much and isn't plentiful enough. You make it cheap and available and now it's GMO'd and "not healthy" for you etc etc.
HAHAHAHAHAHA.

A long overdue episode. Thank God Hot Ones got Andrew Zimmern here!
Great guest roster, especially enjoy chefs talking shop, but Bobby Flay's choice of best drive through burger took a trouncing. Steak n Shake a personal fave but not any where I currently live 😞
Andrew eating wings like they’re mild and the entire wing. This dude is the realest I’ve ever seen on the show just to be honest.
One for the Hot Ones record books. Zimmern not only cleaned them wings, but knocked 'em out with thoughtful critique of each sauce... and that love letter to gas station pizza was everything.

So cool to hear Andrew talk about Adam and Anthony that way. I used to watch all their shows often on the Travel Channel. All three were great entertainers.
Bizarre foods taught me about how to love all cultures and all people's no matter what. It fostered a curiosity and a sense of adventure in me that still drives me to this day. Andrew is one of my idols and I'm so happy to see him on this show!
Andrew Z killed it. No nibbles. He ate the whole wing each time. He has always been one of my favorite food show hosts.
We know from watching Bizarre foods that he's the bravest eater. 😂
Andrew Z WINGSLAYER
This man, along with Bourdain and Adam Richman, were such a big part of my life growing up. Being able to see them travel the world and visit places I could only dream was always a treat. Travel Channel was pretty much the only reason to have cable back in the day for me. Zimmern is just a genuine and real guy. This was absolutely an all time classic episode.

All three are the reason I got into cooking and decided to try new foods. They dont know how much they mean to me.

I love the way Andrew deconstructed the various flavors for each sauce and appreciates the subtle notes of each ingredient.
Honestly, I wish we could get a long video where some chefs like him get invited back not for an interview but for a review of each of the sauces.
Alton Brown did the same thing, and even ranked the sauces from best to worst.
This might sound weird but as a kid Andrew basically taught me how to speak. He speaks so eloquently, so laterally, he makes analogies and is expressive in a way that i think so many people can learn from. I’m so thankful to have been at that age watching him and Anthony Bourdain with my parents.
Andrew gave us an in depth of all the sauces that no one else ever does, now I know how they all taste without ever tasting them. Grew up with Andrew, Anthony (rest in peace) and Adam. Miss those days.
Andrew is such a real one hearing him talk about how its ridiculous even a single child goes hungry in our society when we have the ablity to keep them fed really put a tear in my eye
💯
If only everyone would boycott the Olympics!
If they took the money wasted on the Olympics (3 events), they could have enough money to eliminate the hunger situation!
It's absolutely sickening how much money is spent & more so wasted on this stupid 💩, yet people still watch / support it!
