This was exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately, purchased Chinese made kitchen chairs from a big box furniture store and the wood used is very brittle. You saved me a ton of money sir. Thank you!
Thanks, good video. How about not only glue the new piece, but screw it too? I did it with just a hand saw, a power drill, and a rasp. I added 2 nails without head to vertically insert the leg and the new piece, and 2 screws screwing horizontally the new piece to the leg. I drilled the screws holes first, to not split the new piece.
This DiY video is for those of us who work with wood as a hobby. The tools used are pretty basic and anyone with such hobby should have them. Thank you for posting this video,. I bought a brand new dining set for 70.00, having the same tipe of damage to one chair, applied what this video teaches, and sure enough.... It worked....saved myself about 250.00 had I bought the set from a store....and a lot of time thinking I had to make a whole new leg....Thank you....
DIY!! I don’t have the heavy equipment to do that at home, but I wish I could because that’s exactly what happened to my chair. Do you know where I can buy a replacement leg? No luck finding this kind at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

what saw table and black angle tool is at 0:50 very nice and useful although i bet that tabl ewith the movable saw is porbably expensive, very cool tho!
Good video. But what if it broke further down? Let's say another 2 or 3 inches from where you repaired already do you keep going down the leg? I really don't want a 2 tone leg. Any thoughts for that?
Pretty cool, but I dont have those tools, what's the cheap way to do it? Gotta be able to cut out the damaged part and glue in new wood without fancy machines... but might be a lot of work! Cheat!
So you hacked in a non-round, oval holes (no 7/16" bit) then didn't push the screw inserts back farther into the existing chair leg? Was the species and hardness of your patch wood equal or better quality than the original? You had so many opportunities to do this better.
Nice work, you didn’t waste any time. 7/16 drill bits don’t come in standard drill bit sets. You have to buy a separate 7/16 drill bit. Also, next time sink the screw in nuts deeper into the hard wood. It’ll be stronger. Buy longer screws if you have to. Lowe’s sells all of that type of hardware. Thank you.

This is exactly what I needed. Gonna be doing this exact thing later today on a buffet leg. Thank you very much!
Great Job! But now can you come to my apartment, bring your equipment and tools and fix my chairs please. 😊
That’s exactly what I was thinking 🤔😂😂😂😂

Thank you. Exactly what I needed to know. Other videos weren't as useful.
Structural strength restored, and no staining required.Nice!
Great video, but I don't have tools. Do you know where can I buy a replacement front leg? Thanks.
What did you install the inserts with? Need more details on that part of the repair please.
Hello this is just what I needed i couldn't figure out way to fix legs like this thanks so much
Thankyou for the video just did the same repair after watching. Waiting on glue to cure

Mad skills bro! Just awesome!
This video was so long ago not sure you will see this. But was if the joint screw is stuck inside the broken leg? How would u repair it?
Just what I needed

It's a miter gauge and comes with the table saw.
Good video. But what if it broke further down? Let's say another 2 or 3 inches from where you repaired already do you keep going down the leg? I really don't want a 2 tone leg. Any thoughts for that?
This was great.
Thanks for the video
I have a client who chair needs repairing
Great vid. Ain’t got any of those cool tools.
Pretty cool, but I dont have those tools, what's the cheap way to do it?

Cheat!
Can I send you the leg and you can fix it for me? Exactly the same problem as the one on the video.
Excelentes tips! Gracias por compartir
Can you buy replacement legs like this one?
Where at?
Smart neat fix. When you break out a bottle of Liquermans dirty Canadian Whiskey don't let the drunks use the good chairs:)
Which type of screws are used..??
GO Canada EH . lol
Nice repair 👍🏻
Looks like that was 2 years ago. Any chance we can get an update on how well this repair held up?
Good so far
👏 Break the chair break the chair 👏
What was your table saw blade angle in order to cut replacement?
45
Thank you!!!
That's great, but how do I get my wife off my ass about the $200 chairs she bought (and the kids ruined) if I don't have all that stuff? 🤣
Kitchen fire....?

The chair was pine and I used pine to fix it.
My inserts are broken and my leg is shaped like that. how do I fix without insert
Kicking goals! Thumbs up for sure!
Nice job!
Silly Canadian's doing wood work in your pajamas. Good jorb!
What what do you do if you don't have a table saw?
I know this was 5 yrs ago - but I'm trying to find out how the threaded inserts can be removed - and replaced... help! 😭
well at least I know it can be fixed. thanks!
waoh dude.. you helped me much.. :)
🔥🔥🔥
Love your fix-I'll send you a 7/16 drill bit if you'll send me a 2.5" piece of that board your part came from - without the holes :-)
Pov:You broke your chair and now you need to fix it before your mom finds out
Do you think home Depot can do this
No

The 10$ ryobi drill set had the 7/16 believe it or not. I had to buy thay special because my sets didn't have it.
weird lookin clamp , pretty cool design
My chairs are always coming apart like this because my kids and husband pull on the leg when moving it.
Could you have put a threaded insert in both of the pieces? It could draw everything in nice and tight.
+Joseph McPhail I used the stock insert and it's only so long. It works just fine like that. ;)
Exactly. The screw inserts should've been used as clamps.
Can you do one for me
I just want to buy a new leg lol
Did you buy it? if so, please share the store or place.
When you realize you have a living room broken chair 🙃
I think I know why it broke. You just ripped the leg off. If you didn’t do that then there wouldn’t have been a problem! Hahaha
lol. Truth is it's my parents chair they dropped off for me to fix.
Not a simple DIY, you need lots of tools and wood experience
Yes but if you have those things you can diy
@@DIYBuilds like its hard.. Try it with a fishbone and a thread like people used to do Lolz jk
Oh hell, I’m not going to do all that, don’t have the equipment.
Yeah , what if I don't have all those tools ?
Buy them?
Come fix my chair legs
Ohh ill fix ur chair legs alright
Lol a sheer load aka someone was too damn heavy
Na that would be an axial load. A sheer load would be the leg catching on a raised up tile or something like that and pushing sideways.
great job but get a real drill
did it drill a fake hole?
Ya let me just grab my 3 thousand dollar table saw 🙄.
Ya that table saw was $200 used
I don't have no of the shot to fix my chair wtf
you also not english well wtf
@@DIYBuilds 😂
Awesome like everyone has those tools at home 🤦♂️
No they don't, however if you want to fix a chair tools are required.
