Surprise trading sure is a surprise. You'll never know what you'll get, a shiny, legendary, magikarp, a hacked pokemon, one from an older game (like DS era/GBA/GB era. It's a mixed bag.
Always so fun to see the statistics that you get out of this! It's really neat to see it from an entirely offline perspective without the influence of a stream chat. And, YES, Pokemon mail needs to come back!! They could limit it to just positive messages or something idk
The reason timezones made a difference this time around and why you got your own Pokemon sent back to you in BDSP is because in BDSP there is a pool of stored Pokemon that gets traded instantly to make sure people don't have to wait for wonder trades. So somebody could trade their Korean Pokemon 2 weeks ago and you get it 2 weeks later in a wonder trade.

One of my favorite small details/event type things that can be overlooked easily, is that on the dirt path to the outdoor cave-ish area that has a tera Garchomp just chilling on one of the rock pillers, if you are going down that path at night you might see two Sableyes running up or down it (I saw them running down the path towards the cave and fallowed them there cuz Sableye is my favorite pokemon so that scene was just precious to me). I think this micro event only occurs before night time is ending so it's like the Sableyes are running back home to the nice somewhat dark cave :3 don't know why I'm mentioning this here I just thought it was neat when I saw it happened
one of the reasons for quaxly being so low in the stats might be that meowscarda and skeledirge are much more popular in competitive. while quaquaval pretty much having free dragon dances can become strong, skeledirge's unaware + torch song and meowscarda's protean + guranteed crits are much more immediately useful in battles
It means people aren't shiny hunting it (the final evo doesn't have a good shiny). The main reason people wonder trade starters is after they finish shiny egg hunting

One thing about water starters is that good water mons are usually plentiful while good fire/grass mons are hit, or miss... or you're gen 4 that said infernape, or bust
Its sort of obvious that everyone would love breeding Charizard from the Tera Dragon Charizard event, but nowadays we had Tera Poison Greninja (which I managed to get on the first release thanks to a friend), a Scorbunny since someone Surprise Traded me it... But now we have Walking Wake and Iron Leaves
On Christmas Day I traded a bunch of Litten in Pokémon Shield but I didn’t bother to check any of the stats of them since I was originally shiny hunting and wanted to see what I’d get from doing a bunch of surprise trades even after ScVi came out. It was pretty time consuming but at least I traded around 5 boxes of unnamed Litten for people to enjoy!
It's funny hearing that Nacli got a trade increase, cause if it actually was a few weeks after release then that was totally the result meta settling- ppl going after good stat salt cure Nacli 😂
My starter was fuecoco (I wanted sprigatito because CAT, but a friend had one for me) and I got sent that as well as Quaxly. That Quaxly CARRIED ME THROUGH THE GAME. I mostly used it only.

I have been waiting for this. We have been blessed with this series.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Their adding naming in the boxes in a patch!
Yeah baby that's what WE were waiting for
On Christmas Day I traded a bunch of Litten in Pokémon Shield but I didn’t bother to check any of the stats of them since I was originally shiny hunting and wanted to see what I’d get from doing a bunch of surprise trades even after ScVi came out.
It was pretty time consuming but at least I traded around 5 boxes of unnamed Litten for people to enjoy!
you showed the wurmple and I threw out a "Fred" and then yelled when you said "Frederick". Best victory of the week lol
I’m not surprised at quaxly being so rarely traded. Even if you get a shiny it doesn’t save him from his fate of turning into hideous quaquaval
3:52 YES MYSTERY DUNGEON ICONS!!!
the thing about the quax is that when breeding all of the starters, fuecoco and sprigatito can breed with each other, but not quaxly, so more rejects!
You could do this again at the end of S/V’s lifecycle and compare data
at 5:32 i paused the video in shock, I was literally thinking the same thing
It's funny hearing that Nacli got a trade increase, cause if it actually was a few weeks after release then that was totally the result meta settling- ppl going after good stat salt cure Nacli 😂
3:28 YAYYYYY MIMIKYU! 😁🥹🥰
Last month I did 5 trades on ORAS on 3DS back to back and got 5 different people right away each time from different areas. Was kinda cool.
My starter was fuecoco (I wanted sprigatito because CAT, but a friend had one for me) and I got sent that as well as Quaxly. That Quaxly CARRIED ME THROUGH THE GAME. I mostly used it only.
