Same sub but it was Dual 2 ohm to 1ohm same amp with 2.5 ft3 ported box tuned @ 32hz we set up for a buddy and we tested amp at a sub shop and it was hitting 1000 watts rms. 1 of the c4aziest 1000 watt systems for the price.
Correct wiring is crucial for dual ohm woofers.. if its a dual 4 ohm, make sure your running + to + and - to - on the speaker terminals.. this will give you a final impedance of 2 ohms
We will have to look into measuring it to make sure it reads 2 ohms , we had supposedly wired up the sub to the 2ohm setup , according to the instructions manual
A box built to spec for the sub will make a much bigger difference than you think..i got 2 DC 12s on. Sundown 8000 watt amp amd then 2 more amps running mids and highs..with a total of 5 batteries, and a 320 amp alternator, ..its loud...suggestions...put it in a bigger ported box tuned around 32 hz, make sure your grounds are really good, if you can wire to 1 ohm do that, and if your seats come down in the back you can open it up to the trunk from the cabbin..
If all you did was swap from the power acoustik amp to the Jensen and the Jensen sounded louder then you have something wrong or set wrong on the power acoustik. Or that amp has an issue. First try phase reverse by swapping polarity of the speaker leads on the amp only. Second minimum 4 awg power wire for the power acoustik. A proper built box will make even greater difference.
SUGGESTION: reason why they mount subwoofers upside down is beacuse the box is too small for the sub. having it installed normally takes up space inside the box. having it inside out gives the subwoofer more air inside the box. The reason this subwoofer has 2 connections on it is how it gets the 2500 watts rating. each side is rated for 1250 watts. please look up how to wire a dual ohm sub in series vs parallel If you only connect 1 side it wont play correctly. itll work but not the best these higher watt subs need whats called a break in. to soften the rubber and surround. reason why this may not have as much THUMP is because that amp is terribly inefficient. it may have 100amp fuse but if its only 60% efficient then itll only output 60% of what the box says. also the higher watt the sub is the more watts its going to need to sound good. For example. a 500w sub with a 500w amp will hit harder than a 1000w sub on 500w. smaller magnet requires less power to move. the same amount. To find out the real wattage of the amp multiply the fuse size by 14.4. so 100amp fuse on the power acoustik would be 1440w max. but again how efficient is the amp. the jenson is probabyl more efficient so it outputs closer to what the boxs says it outputs i get so excited everytime you guys post a video. reminds me of when i first got into sound audio. always excited to hear it!!
Ahh haha yesss were always happy to make another video but yes both coils were hooked up but not sure if we did everything correctly, so i will double check on that if not were gonna have to make a quick remake of the video 🙂

My personal experience with both products is this; I bought one of the PA 12s as a temp placeholder until I could get the money up for 2 memphis ported 12s, while not the loudest, the single PA 12 did impress me with sound and build quality, it was quite loud and pretty clean for the price point; however, the RZR1-2500D amp is total junk...I fried the amp in less than 3 weeks, it doesn't even put out 400 watts rms at 4 ohms, lucky to get a little over 500 watts rms at 2 ohms, my kicker 400 watt cx amp completely dogs their amp out.
I have the same amp and sub in a minivan and it's ridiculous!,tune that amp right and don't be scared to turn it up!,I've had it pounding for 4 years now I'm super impressed with it!,but I did build a custom vented enclosure and a large capacitor, boxes tuned to 40 hertz!,you'll piss everyone in the neighborhood off!,just ask my wife!😂
If you just want noise, this is fine. If you're looking for audiophile quality, you need to look into measuring your driver with something like Dayton DATS v3 and designing your own box. Noo :( im looking forward to getting a cheap oscilloscope, i’ve heard that its not too accurate to use a multimeter, im sire its better than nothing though:(
i have the power acoustik amp powering an old kicker comp 10”. The sub is a single 4ohm vc and my power wire is 4 gauge cca, so if i had to guess, the amp is probably giving the sub 200-300 watts rms. haven’t had any problems with it and i’ve been playing it every day as it’s in my daily driver
@@TNG11Automotive Not too sure how much of a difference you’ll get from going to 4 gauge. Probably a lot cleaner sounding as the power will flow through the bigger wire a lot more efficiently. The box makes a huge difference too. A good box can make a cheap or low power sub hit way harder than you’d expect
@@TNG11Automotive go with the 4 gauge wire first. It’s cheaper than a new box and will allow you to run more powerful amps and subs in the future. It’ll also allow you to run an amp for your door speakers and 6x9s so you can keep a balanced sounding system because, eventually, you get to a point where the sub overpowers the door speakers and 6x9s if they’re wired straight off the head unit and you have to turn the sub down to keep the sound balanced
You ain't got that power acoustik set right ! Power acoustik amplifier puts out over 300 watts more then Jensen amplifier so i don't know what you guys are doing !...
@TNG11Automotive Your not able to do 1 ohm wiring. A dual 4 ohm sub wired in parallel will be 2 ohm. To get a 1 ohm load you need a sub that is dual 2 ohm.
That power acoustik amp actually got me by for a while with a 15” p3 and a 12” ds18 genxx both at 2 ohms and they would slam. The p3 had nice punchy and low bass while the genxx 12” was really responsive on 28-50 hz. Box does make a big difference too!

I had this setup in my Civic but I made a custom box 4 it and it sounded really good it was really loud I recently just bought two more of these subs but with a soundstream 3000 watt amp with a ProBox and it sounds crazy in my Ford edge
The 12" Power Acoustik subwoofers are good for the price but it's really a 600rms 1200max watt subwoofer. Get the right box built and that subwoofer and that subwoofer should shake your car 👍
Look at the specification get a box or build a box. Small sealed boxes will have small sound. ported or bandpass boxes will be louder or max spec sealed box will be louder. I have 2 6.5 in subs in a 1:1 bandpass they are pretty loud but also get down to 15 hertz
Owned a pair of the subs. Need to be in a ported box. 1.75 cubic feet, with a 35hz tuning. For best sound, 800rms worth of Amp, but no more. I had my pair on a 2500rms Amp, and they got hot easily. Not a fan of Walmart amps, especially that one.
I'm running that same amp power acoustic i have 2 of em pushing 2 solo beric L7s and that amp is very impressive for something from Walmart ...L7s are in a single front ported box
Try unplugging the rj-45 bass remote knob from the amp and see if it makes a difference. Also wire your subwoofer in parallel dropping the ohms to 2 ohm. keep up the hard work.
I had the Jensen amp with a kicker cvr in a porter box in my work truck and it was nice , budget builds all day. Those pa subs aren’t bad prob better in a ported box, but price point few more bucks you could get a ct sounds, skar, American bass, legion , even def bonce for better built quality sub etc. but still cool newb audio video and fun to watch so keep getting down
Need a box about 1.5-2.25 cf tuned to 32 hz so you can really test each sub in a (average) enclosure and you’ll see how a box really plays a big role in a system‼️‼️
hi i had this same exact set up before. Here is what you need to do first you most likely need to re wire the sub. it is a dvc so it can be wire to either 8 ohm or 2 ohm. 8 ohms on that amplifier will only pull 200w rms. so you will need to wire it to 2 ohm wich will pull 600w rms which you do buy wiring the speaker in parallel you do this by connect your positive terminal to each other and negative terminals to each other and then take a negative and positive from either side and use as the input. The next thing i suggest to do is to invert the sub in that box as that box just simply doesn't have enough air space in it for that subwoofer. do both of these and that sub will be slammin. you guys arent doing bad at all your learning your supposed to make mistakes or else you have nothing to learn from
Thanks man appreciate and yea we’re learning more and more each time ! but yea were gonna have to redo it with a better box and make sure all the wiring is good !
I think that the Power Acoustik amp you got was a return which would explain the fingerprints. This Jenson amp shouldn’t push the sub better than the smaller Jenson but manufacturers do lie about the numbers.
Fold down the back seat so more bass can get into the car. Dfferent amp gonna give you different results. That power acoustic amp might perform better and give you more power at 1ohm. While the Jensen amp might perform better at 2ohm. The Jensen amp is giving it all it got at 2ohm vs the power acoustic amp not even trying at 2ohm. Wire it down to 1ohm and let see what happens 😁😁😁😁
You guys are learning a lot. You can verify the speaker wiring by attaching a digital multimeter set to resistance. Disconnect the wires from the amp and measure. They should be close to 2 ohm. I think you got that right. You might try turning up the gain on the Power Acoustik amp. I always set my gain by listening to it. If you crank it way up listen for distortion. If you hear that, turn the volume down a notch.
You can find a Q Power Heavy Duty MDF ported box for $52 that looks pretty good. On Jeff Bezos store. I don't know what the tuning is, but it looks pretty low. That's good. I got a Q Power box myself. They are nice. I added extra glue to all the inside joints just for extra strength and sealing.
@@TNG11Automotivei had that sub in the same box you were using bc someone who didn’t know what they were doing hooked it up and it was weak af…. I had a custom box built for it and it started hammering.
Yall need an SSA meter... just cause it sounds louder don't mean it is. Leaving it at 10hz is fine but it dont need to be that low for regular music... amp tuning makes a huge difference, without the right tools its pretty hard to get right though.
I don't think they should be spending $300+ on an spl meter. Just go by your ears. A $50-$65 oscope and test tones will show you at what volume the headunit signal starts to distort. It can help set gains as well.
Bro, put that sub in a 2.5 cu ft ported enclosure and use an SMD DD1 to tune the amp. That power acoustic amp is way more powerful then that Jensen amp.
The reason why it didnt excide your expectations is because the kicker is in a proper box and amplifier while the power acoustic is not in its optimal box or amplifier. Great review and video though.
😂😂 car audio can send you down a deep rabbit hole when it comes to a perfect build but doing your own trail and error experiments is fun to watch. Do you guys think of adding more subwoofers instead of doing singles? For sure your starter setup is underpowered but for average folks they will be satisfied with what you guys did
@@TNG11AutomotiveYou very well may have. I think investing in a better box or building one would definitely bring the sub alive much more. Even a crappy sub in a very well made box will out perform a lot of top of the line subs in a crappy box.
Imo, you shouldn't have that much excruciating in a sealed enclosure. I would give it a 24 hour break in (play time) @ 500 rms. But that's just me. With that much movement in sealed (being brand new) you'll smoke the coils..
You guys need to get an oscope ... Very inexpensive and you can tune thise systems properly. Even with the budget pieces you have, if you know what your doing, building boxes and tuning....You can make it slam !!!
@TNG11Automotive The box said 2 subs which if they are dual 4 ohm you can wire it down to 1ohm. Using one sub it would had to be a dual 2ohm subwoofer to be able to wire down to 1ohm. I'll be posted for the upcoming follow up video💯
You need a better box. I have two pa subwoofer and pa amps in a ported 4.2 cubic ft box tuned to 32hz hitting 147db on music 🤷🏻♂️. Pm me and I can show proof
I have that “”2500w”” amp. But I don’t use it bc I have a 600 w amp from a different brand that puts out more true watts (rms) at 2 and 1 ohm and close to the same rms at 4ohm. And what’s messed up is my 600 isn’t even rated to be 1 ohm stable. 🤣 But my cousin has 2 gothic 12s and that PA 2500 w amp and his shiii is crazy fkin loud. Everything is wired to 1ohm. The biggest difference but is the most important is we built a custom ported box to match the exact specs of the subs tuned to 33 hz. So the problem is that box bro cuz the box is way to small for that sub. That amp can push way more but they have 4 way protect so if everything isn’t right on you will never see what it can really do. That’s why my smaller amp is putting out more power bc it is a much better match for my system. I couldn’t get even half the rating out of the same exact pa 2500w amp but when I let my cousin use it in his system it was able to reach its full potential. You gotta match everything up amp match subs box built to spec. No prefab. The right wires and fuses. Right amount of voltage and amperage it’s more than just throw a sub in a box with a big amp. That’s not how it works.
Yea the amp is Supposed to be new but when we opened the box it was definitely used before and assuming it was returned! maybe it was defective or the box is too small , we will definitely have to go back and try it again with a better box and a New amp not used !
Please get a different box off marketplace to test with. Also get at least a 4 gauge amp kit, I say at least bc yall are only running like a 600 watt amp🤣
If ya'll would actually take time to save money for a little better brands instead of walmart, you would have a lot better of an experience than just "blaaaa". Look into HiFi car audio, you would be amazed by how much distortion is in factory head units and RCA cables. If you get rid of those and run digital audio, i guarantee you, your bass will at least double because there is no distortion. Then you can actually look into upgrading front stage and then rear if need be. There is so much more to car audio than buying stuff from walmart. Not hating on anybody and what you have but you have to put time and money into car audio to get what you're looking for. If you're satisfied with what you have than you're not a real car audio person. (no hate).
Wondering what you did wrong? The answer is really simple you did nothing wrong the subwoofer box may be a little small but not too bad the problem I see here is that you keep mentioning the amp is a perfect match for that subwoofer because the box says that but the truth is that it is not a perfect match . why? Because That subwoofer can only be wired down to 2 ohms and the amp will perform at its best at 1 ohms if you look on the amp box it says “perfect match with 2 gothic subwoofers” thats because you will need a second subwoofer so you can wire everything down to 1 ohm and get the best performance out of the power acustik amp your setup is not a perfect match
@@TNG11Automotive that's good I bought one 4 years ago and thought my sub was messed up turns out it was the box I wasted 30$ just to screw myself over

I got a Q Power box myself. They are nice. I added extra glue to all the inside joints just for extra strength and sealing.
if you look up the box specs for that sub, it is a huge box it asks for, that small box doesnt do it justice
You need a better bigger ported box and it will be way better
Yea we’re realizing it should of been used in a bigger box 😭
@@TNG11Automotivei had that sub in the same box you were using bc someone who didn’t know what they were doing hooked it up and it was weak af…. I had a custom box built for it and it started hammering.
@@TNG11Automotivelove the content though!
Great videos bro should do a ported box much better bass for sure
Dudes, I have 2 recoil audio pw65d2 subwoofers wired to 2ohms each and they vibrate my Nissan d21 pickup. Try them they are excellent
Yall need an SSA meter... just cause it sounds louder don't mean it is. Leaving it at 10hz is fine but it dont need to be that low for regular music... amp tuning makes a huge difference, without the right tools its pretty hard to get right though.
Darn. i’ve been looking forward to a cheap oscilloscope! but maybe im going to need more audio tools
I don't think they should be spending $300+ on an spl meter. Just go by your ears.
A $50-$65 oscope and test tones will show you at what volume the headunit signal starts to distort. It can help set gains as well.
@@JasonWW2000 I agree the oscope will be a better investment for the money... ears lie.
Nice sub and amp but I feel that box needs a port for air
Yea were gonna have to do that at this point :( realizing that the boxes are too small for that woofer
@@TNG11Automotive it's a good box don't get me wrong it just needs the right woofer for it
bro you guys got it
its definitely the tuning
For sure your starter setup is underpowered but for average folks they will be satisfied with what you guys did
Haha yess we actually do plan on doing doubles! we just first wanted to experiment with singles :) but for sure will have to try doubles !! 😁
Buy some Rockville I got a monoblock 1 channel with a 10 inch sub with 500 watts I think and a 1,200 amp for like 130 online bumps pretty good ngl
I’m worried about the Jensen amp overheating, if anyone could let me know if this is a issue that would be amazing
What amp is the Jensen?
Jensen Monoblock Amplifier XDA91RB 😁
Its a monster 😂 teeny guy I think. But a beast of a budget sub
You should have wired the 4ohm sub down to 2ohm so that the amp feeds it more power and that crappy box is robbing the sub of power as well.
We had supposedly wired the sub to a 2 ohm setup ! unless the instructions manual wasnt accurate :(
@@TNG11AutomotiveYou very well may have. I think investing in a better box or building one would definitely bring the sub alive much more. Even a crappy sub in a very well made box will out perform a lot of top of the line subs in a crappy box.
Now get one more 12 and a Ported box on same amp at 1ohm and wala😊😊
haha we will definitely try that since i think thats what the amp is asking for 😁😭
I would like to see you pick up one of my 15's with one hand. 😂 They are only 90lb's each without the box.
Imo, you shouldn't have that much excruciating in a sealed enclosure. I would give it a 24 hour break in (play time) @ 500 rms. But that's just me. With that much movement in sealed (being brand new) you'll smoke the coils..
You need a Ported Box (With the correct internal volume) and it WILL shake that little car.
You guys need to get an oscope ... Very inexpensive and you can tune thise systems properly. Even with the budget pieces you have, if you know what your doing, building boxes and tuning....You can make it slam !!!
Put it in a ported box
Where have you guys beeen
If the RPMs are dropping that much you definitely need some sort of electrical upgrade.
Shouldn't need to for that low of power
Ported box and a better amp
I also tested both amps and the jensen sounds better.
The sub was dual 4ohm then you was not getting the 1ohm power lol not the amplifier problem 😅. Check your ohms
Darn. will address that :(
@TNG11Automotive The box said 2 subs which if they are dual 4 ohm you can wire it down to 1ohm.
The remote is not for bass boost it's for the gain, also your gain was set to 0 try making small adjustments
But my cousin has 2 gothic 12s and that PA 2500 w amp and his shiii is crazy fkin loud.
You said the amplifier wasn't new! So that amp may be defective. Trust me that amp is bad try another amp
Yea the amp is Supposed to be new but when we opened the box it was definitely used before and assuming it was returned! maybe it was defective or the box is too small , we will definitely have to go back and try it again with a better box and a New amp not used !
@@TNG11Automotive yes because it made the sub sound like it was blown
That amplifier is much better than it Jensen
Please get a different box off marketplace to test with. Also get at least a 4 gauge amp kit, I say at least bc yall are only running like a 600 watt amp🤣
We will definitely have to get a better box :(
@@TNG11Automotive trust me you can find a solid ported sub box on marketplace for cheap
Why did this come up on my channel. I run 2 sundown XV3 15s.
It sounds ds so gr3at my boy started tearing ahahaaa 😂
I think the power acoustic is a better amp for the money. You need a better box!
Need a better amp the subwoofer is good
My poor brain cells 😭
Exactly😭 these guys know nothing 💀
Im 16 and know how to setup car audio even in the house 😂
As soon he showed his settings 👀💀
Amp and sub really good. but this box doesn't make any bass
Got it ! we will have to address that :(
Should of got a 2 ohm sub so you can wire it down to 1 ohm
maybe next time get a skar ported box better is cheap :)
Change the box and some mids and highs
(no hate).
Watching that sealed box is upsetting me.
Skar RP 800 would do a better job.
Could be the sealed box too… sub might need air to breathe
PAaint no joke don’t get it twisted
That amp doesn't put out what is written on the box
The Power Acoustik does. Not the max, but the rms. 400, 650 and 800 at 4, 2 and 1 ohm.
Did you just say jensen is the company going up against kicker? 😂🤣
Jensen did have a sick plexy glass box back in the day that made my alpine type R 10s hit soooooo goooood.
Jensen is better than that PA amplifier.
Those fold up subwoofer boxes you have to screw together on the most crappiest boxes ever from Walmart do not use them they are very cheap
Yeaa we plan on getting a different box 😭
@@TNG11Automotive that's good I bought one 4 years ago and thought my sub was messed up turns out it was the box I wasted 30$ just to screw myself over
Kicker > Power acoustik
Oh wow😮💨. TURN THE GAIN UP ON THE POWER ACOUSTIK !! the Jenson is no there near a better amplifier smh
There are things you CAN'T hear that you need to adjust for. Watch some Sam Meade videos and do some more
research.
