This series reminds me of the 90's. Im 45 and this is the stuff we did in the 90's!!!! Great Job Parker!! Reminds me of being a teenager again. I'm teaching my boys and they have been loving it.
It's a good thing that you are bringing to light that you can go cheap and achieve great results. For example I have been running two dual brand 12's in a bandpass box on a jvc 600 watt amp for about 13 years now and it still hits around 130db. Keep doing what your doing!
Those ports are too close to the back wall. You generally want the width of the port worth of distance between a port and a wall. But still turned out awesome!
It's interesting actually because you can slightly decrease the ports tuning by making it seem longer, by pushing the end of the port close to a wall. You want the port area to be equal to the "folded rectangular area" of... Well, imagine you have a rectangle, and that rectangles length is equal to the port circumference, and the rectangles width is equal to the distance from the port to the wall. That rectangle needs to have the same area as the port area. This will extend the ports effective length by a few inches or so. Free low tuning!
I've been following your channel for almost two years now. I just want to say thank you for all your hard work and dedication in your videos. I've learned a lot and this series has been great. I'm excited to see where you go from here. Keep up the great work and bass on bro!!!
This was a very nice series. A tone of people shop at walmart and everything was cheap. Making it more real world. More series like this in the future would be great.
I had one of these subs on an old school elevation audio 500 amp.. it lasted about a week before it burnt. Wasn't to bad.. wish Elevation audio was still around lol
The rms on those subs is 1200 watts (2400 collectively) The rms on those amps is 650 @ 1ohm (collectively 1300 watts rms). Those subs are severely underpowered! I have two of those Gothic 12" subs in a 6.5 cube, strongly reinforced, box running off an Audio pipe 2500 watt amp (rms 1800) ! The bass is phenomenal! But also the musicality is AMAZING!!! I've been crank'n them subs up for 4 years and their longevity is notable as well!
I just Bought 2 15inch NVX. They are same price as the gothics but much better in my opinion. They take 750 rms. I was gonna go with the gothics but decided to go the 15 inch route
the thing about using ports is you have to have atleast half the diameter of the port of space from any wall inside the box, and atleast the full diameter of the port of space outside of the port opening. It's gotta breathe. Sounds really good for walmart grade stuff and you're showing those that have to do with what they can afford that they can still get loud. Great work Parker!!
Literally dude your videos get better and better each day. It’s awesome to be apart of your journey and see how far things have gone for you! Keep it up dude!❤️
this is awsome. im fixing to build me a box for a rockford fosgate p3 12 for inside my house. i got some polk audio 6x9 i got on sale at walmart. i got 4 of them and i plane to use the 4 6x9 polks and the single rockford fosgate p3 and whatever other speakers and amplifiers i can find to put in it. its basically gonna be a budget car audio/ home audio build for inside the house.
I had four of them wired to 2 ohms on a skar 1500.1 maybe no more than 800 or more RMS going to them blowed every single one of them I must have got a bad batch yours sounds good keep it up
Yep just because you don't spend a crazy amount of money doesn't mean that your system can't beat hard, when I got my first setup I had four 15-in Orion Cobalt the black ones and a audiopipe 1500d the first one they came out with at 1 ohm on a kinetic 2400 and it was 147db and then I ended up building that setup same box into a wall and I was hitting 153db and I only spent around $600 with the head unit included because I got the box for free from my friend that had a car audio shop and I got the kinetic battery for next to nothing because I traded a couple pairs of Infinity and MTX door speakers that I've got out of a car the junkyard that were basically brand new but that guy definitely hooked me up, but it ended up getting me on to a car audio team because they seen the passion I have for car audio. It was so much fun, Awesome work bro ty Parker for showing people that you don't have to buy the expensive stuff to have fun. You rock bro.
I used to have a 94 exploder with a kicker l5 12 in a ported box running on a jbl amp pushing 750rms and did 140 in a sound comp. Cheaper then this set up and better quality parts
As someone who’s had a many of walled off ext cab trucks back in the day.. I can hands down tell you the majority of the time you want either facing forward and port up.. Or as I did with my last one with 4 15”s I had two firing down.. two firing up and ports centered top and bottom in correlation to the subs they were porting as it was essentially two box’s single chamber. Then I used angles plexiglass on top angled to deflec the sound forward and same on the bottoms which doubled as Amp rack and power (similar to say a horn tweeter effect) distribution area.. that’s a little much for this budget build but you could have done the center two firing down slot port center.. then the ends firing up single chamber firing up with with single 3” or 4” ports.. but then you’d have to remove the seat and add a shelf to elevate it 12” or so off the floor.. but you already had a dual box and a sgl all you really needed was a bother sgl and then attached them all to each other if you really wanted to be ghetto fab lol Either way I find this funny.. came inside after having just finished my daily caddy install lol.. just a sgl 12”cvr off cxa800 but that little thing hits pretty good when combined with the 14 factory speakers lol.. But in honesty sounds like it hits somewhat similar to this still but I did 12mil line the entire trunk even on top of all the skid deadening it already has lol All for fun and all.. but I think if I was doing this I would have gone big sealed and just fired them forward.. maybe 2.6-3cube per.. have to play with software a little to see what the slope is in those ranges but should be about right.. Really from what if read and seen these subs are pretty decent.. the amps are the crap in this system.. I bet a single decent amp would be a lot better lol.. another 3-4db prob.. so much you can do with a big 3/4-1 ton though cause they already have big alts and dual battery’s can pul 2k off factory electrical pretty easy in those.. would be fun to tinker around with like this for budget builds with decent amp and big wire
Honestly, I love these types of videos. It really shows that cheap solutions aren't bad and it shows that they may actually be worth it. Great video sir. 😁 You should definitely do more videos like this :) Have a good day!
The diameter of the port determines how close it can be to the rear wall. Try cutting out some spacers so you can move the ports outwards away from the rear wall you’ll definitely see some gains.
Ran into your RUclips videos when I was looking at Walmart subwoofer gear but I wind up buying a sealed box with couple kicker comp vr 2 ohm 12's in it but them being 2 ohm I can't use my older rockford fosgate amp with them.
People, if the ports are meant, to be that long for tuning. Then they are not “too close” to the back wall. Box builders, have been doing that for years with ideal results. Only thing I would suggest, is manipulating things inside cabin. Move passenger seat forward, open door “outlaw”, sun shields up and down, vents closed, and anything else that can make minor adjustment. Great series Parker, keep ‘em coming!
@@tbone8839 the t/s parameters are meant to be built within spec. I’m not saying shrinking port is a bad thing, his designer examined his cabin space. Subwoofer and power, made the measurements and tuning ratio needed for optimal performance. It’s still a project, nothing is ever finished in bass.
👍 I got two 2,500 watts power acoustic sub speakers the same ones you have in this video and a 2,500 watt power acoustic amplifier that goes with those sub speakers from Walmart and I can vouch with you that its a good purchase.
Your two Dual 12" setup using the Taramps amplifier got a 142dB in a previous video. The six Jenson 12" setup was hitting 143+ on music. Big power is the king, that Walmart amp needs a little more oomph to push those PA subs to the limit. Love your videos.
Dude those cheap subs were bumping !!! Dayum! I’m doing a fun similar idea with all baby 6.5 cheap subs, right now I have a Lanzar and pyramid and crazy the lanzar bumps lololol! I love it . Car audio and subs blasting has been a passion and in my blood since I was a kid man! Love how guys like you big d wiz and hifi vega are keeping it alive ! Can’t wait to see your sundown build my brotha
Those ports should be the diameter away from the wall of the box. Also you have the ports blocked from the front.....should of built a sealed box . Mr Parker I am super proud of how far you have come , all the way from that kid blowing subs in his backyard. ✌️
My test box before building my center console was 3 cubes, 28hz, single 12in gothic facing to the rear and port up. Had 4 inches of clearance between sub and cab wall.... was hitting just over 136db alone. You box should have been minimal 10 cubes n 30hz for specs correct? The enclosure really makes a difference with these subs.
why is it even ported? i have never understood why sealed boxes are so overlooked. forget the port and put a divider in the box to split them into paired chambers. will sound and perform way better.
I had 2 of these in a 6cube slot port box, tuned around 35hz. did a 142.6 on a hifonics brutus 3200 in a Kia rondo van. There pretty good for the price.
Nice video I had 2 Jensen's 12 from Walmart with the 1200 watt Jensen XDA91RB ya I was trying to bug the neighbors with throwing a third 1 in!!! keep doing what you do.. love the videos just waken up on my birthday today thanks Parker l learned alot from you 👍👍🔈🔉🔊 turn up the bass for me 😜
I used to brace my subs upside down at the floor in the back Of my extended cab then ports towards seats. I didn't have my rear cab seats in, box was to big. They set about a foot from the floor
I started a Facebook page just to get entered for one of your giveaways finally lol been watching you for years man I’ve learned allot from you over the years! Now I’m full blown addicted lol I need a bigger amp for my subs horribly lol only one 2 k on 2 15” zvx’s 😭
Can't wait for the next build. It would be interesting to see a couple of the subs you've reviewed in the sequoia just to see how the different cabin affects performance
I got one of these power acoustic gothic 12’s in the trunk of my subie with a dual 600 watt amp in a sealed box n it slams!!! I’ll put a video here soon.
Really cool video series. I feel like the score was low but if you just take the db difference it's massive. Maybe it's cuz it's a truck but you were doing 140s with single 12s in the sequoia. Maybe toss that box in the suv? I'm sure you've already thought of this for a video.
can't wait to see your project, hey if you fire those sub backward you might get a gain Trucks load differently. I've settled on doing a bass tube for my t2 12
Think it would make a difference if the ports were at least 8 inches from the back wall. They are like 2 inches at max from the way it looks. I figure that would at least be noisy but not near enough flow. Have you experimented with this box since?
I love the growth man. Keep learning the box math I find that the speakers in the enclosure are only the beginning it’s all about applications like cab area port area cone area etc. me and my buddy started out building our own now we can design and build a lot of different stuff it’s all trial and error
@@RandoManFPV in my experience it is purely trial and error but if you can get a rough cubic foot of your cab area you can cross reference it to a sealed resonance or you can run a sweep in the car and see what hz you peak in cab and build around that but that’s all preferences
@@robertharreschou9263 not necessarily resonance isn’t based on how big it is it’s based on how the waves travel in the area they are in. You could have two vehicles of the same cabin space but due to shape have completely different resonant frequencies. Trial and error is the most sure way to figure out what’s best for you and at the end of the day it’s all preferences
My power acoustik amp hit pretty hard. Push two hifonics Brutus 15s and I changed over to the Orion Cobalt amp 7500watt. I do have a small sound clip on my channel recorded it on my way home from work one day

Or rather where can I find information on such topics?
@@RandoManFPV in my experience it is purely trial and error but if you can get a rough cubic foot of your cab area you can cross reference it to a sealed resonance or you can run a sweep in the car and see what hz you peak in cab and build around that but that’s all preferences
Vans are wear its at
@@robertharreschou9263 not necessarily resonance isn’t based on how big it is it’s based on how the waves travel in the area they are in. You could have two vehicles of the same cabin space but due to shape have completely different resonant frequencies. Trial and error is the most sure way to figure out what’s best for you and at the end of the day it’s all preferences
Honestly love getting into bass and audio I've been loving these videos I have a Kenwood KFC 4011 that was my uncle's as well as a box that it goes in
gonna do the same . i have the pa 5000 watt on two right now. but i want to go four . ported box help..
Those things need a Smart5. I'm running a CAB22 on 2 gothics and they take every bit of it.
I'm excited for your sundown build
My power acoustik amp hit pretty hard. Push two hifonics Brutus 15s and I changed over to the Orion Cobalt amp 7500watt. I do have a small sound clip on my channel recorded it on my way home from work one day
I've seen several people running those amps at .5 ohm! Let's try that next
I cant wait for this ending I had to comment before its finished! We love these walmart videos! Well I do lol. Thanks for the great content my guy! Keep doing what your doing and you will hit 1million subscribers before you know it!!! Iv been here from the early beginning!
Would sub forward port up work the best in truck below the windows line setup
Awesome glad to see you went with a 4sub budget build.
That shis bumping reminds me of this guy I knew back early 90's had the RadioShack 12's 3 of them and 3 mtx road thunders
