Save your self a lot of time landing by keybinding a button to request permission to land or take off. I use F3 and it is soooo helpful instead of fumbling to call for permission.
My biggest tip for new Star Citizens is that this game is a Marathon, not a sprint. Development is 10 years and counting, so don't expect to have all those exciting new features right away. Enjoy the game as it is now, and try to pace yourself.
One of the best things about this game is the community that is here to help you get started. I hope to be playing this for many years. Would love to see Squadron 42 come out some day as well.
One way to retain your equipment if you happen to become incapped or sucked out into space by the "elevator of death" is relog. You will respawn in the apartment with your gear. If you happen to be incapped, when you die, you respawn at the hospital and your gear is in local inventory.

FYI, you don’t have to check yourself in at clinics at space stations. There are “insurance” kiosk that allow you to transfer your respawn data to the new clinic, without having to check in and/or lay down.

The one landing zone that I just can't get to remember the spaceport is Orison, it's such a vague lattice of interconnected shapes that I just get lost until I am either able to spot a hangar door or when I accidentally am close enough to see a landing marker after spamming the request 10 times :P
It's the only place that is actually easier to find in the dark as the first red lights you see are the spaceport lights. Just don't turn away from them as there will be more lighs later :) It's also very different looking from other structures but I tend to forget how it looks like too :)
I have been doing allot of research on this simulation/game in the past.(which is where I found your station) I found out allot on my own, and you revised that in this, GJ... In truth, I didn't know the last 2 points you mentioned, and I will make a note of it, once I get this and start running, I just wish the keyboard options where NOT so vast. Almost want to dig my older pilot simulator joy stick and throttle control out of my tech box. I'm hoping it would prove very useful in the future... Please remember, be safe boss, please
Learned that the altmeter didn’t work the hardway when I flew right into the planet surface at 800 thinking I was nowhere near it yet. I miss ED’s night vision!

For me it's not just the starmap that's annoying. I was doing a mission to find a missing person on a derelict in space and trying to find the person while in EVA is annoying as hell.
I have a feeling they're going to drop the new map system with 4.0. It seems like it could be a lot of unnecessary work to add a whole new system to the existing map. But idk, maybe the existing map is easy to add to (just not easy to play with in game)

My opinion on the game based on my own experience and two of my mates who are evocati, we have stopped playing SC as we got enough and playing other games, hope in some time SC will be playable but i have a massive doubt in that. We have been reporting bugs all time but they just being ignored by CIG so what is the point to waste time reporting if nothing changes.... many wasted thousands of £$€, thankfully i havent.... i dont know if this is true but i tried to land in a hangar and then accidentally pressed f3 (my keybind for atc calling)and it said impounding vehicle so i was like wut also i flew out of a hangar once and they just shot at me for no reason. but ig il just have to learn the keybinds cuz theyre are a lot
Hawkes gaming mentioned there was a hot key in key bindings for requesting ATC approval rather than going through the menus, but I struggled to find it.

You know, I love the graphics. I love the world but the bugs... argh! I have been trying to play for a week now. All I want is to do some simple missions to learn the game. 11 times I have tried to do simple 'package delivery' missions... succeeded twice. Between the bugs and glitches and some moron flying up and ganking my ship while I was trying to carry a box inside I have failed 9 times out of 11. After finally carrying on box halfway across the system for pocket change I tried one carrying three boxes. No matter what I did, I could not let go of one of the three boxes inside my ship. I tried over and over but them some dimwit showed up and started shooting up my ship again so I ran to the cockpit, box in hand and tried to take off. The guy finally quit shooting and left but then the box had no label so I couldn't deliver it... another failed mission... I get it, it is an "Alpha" but hey they took my money so they should be able to deliver some level of decent playability. They seem more interested in adding more and more complexity without fixing what they already have created... for what, ten years? I have beta tested games before but usually they didn't cost $45 or more dollars for the 'honor' of testing their product for them. Also, no protection for new players? That isn't going to draw a lot of new people in folks... Maybe Ill try back again in a couple more years. At least then maybe they will have the elevators in New Babbage working 😆 For now, back to Elite Dangerous where I have a few billion credits and a dozen ships that work and missions that don't glitch. It may not be as pretty but hey, it works.
Hey there, I am thinking about getting this game, I would like to know how much grieving is currently present? Things like forced pvp, spawn camping and similar "kid" things?
Generally you won't get attacked to often if you stick around population centers. Pirates are known to stick around certain areas that you'll learn about pretty quickly, but there still isn't much reward for being a pirate so it isn't as common right now!
With the increase of players to 100 per server, be prepared to be someone else's content aka forced PvP. If you don't enjoy that then don't play because it will happen.
Please remember folks, YOUR regen has a finite number!! Might be a long ways off, but it DOES have a final clone, so don't be too cavelier about dying in the game.

Check the system specs on the website. An SSD is *essential* . Apparently lowering graphics settings doesn't do much, and I think it used to make lag worse. Not sure if that's still the case, but GPU isn't the bottleneck.
You need SSD and 32gb ram, there's some pro tips but as long as you have a good GPU you'll be fine. Watch people playing first and there's a free fly for ten days starting on the 11th? So you can try before you buy

If you want a stable 120 fps you better get yourself an alien computer. Don't expect optimization in alphas... I mean it. Really. Don't. It's playable on your specs, but you won't get 120 fps.
Star Citizen beginner guide with a single tip. Don't pledge to anything till it's out. Star Citizen is a buggy mess for years and if you don't want to be an Alpha tester then, stay away from it.
My best tip if you're starting out at microtech go to buds growery on Euterpe there you will find free guns and armour, from there go to MT DataCenter 5WQ-R2V-C kill the bad guys there and you will be loaded with guns and armour.
Im sorry any game that you die if you have to leave is not a game worth playing. No in game saves, and you lose your money and have to "rebirth" just because you have to quit the game to do real world stuff. Done.
It's utterly ridiculous that Space Ports don't have beacons. Airports have had landing beacons since modern radio communications, but in the 31st century, it's not a things? It's as dumb as not having a compass when you're on foot. Possibly dumber.
Man, f**k this game. They keep adding things but the most basic functions are completely broken. I was tempted to buy it and then remembered why I haven't already. As much as everything is in shambles, I do think I belong in space. I'll try in 10 years
To new players: be ready for alpha and amount of bugs in game is just mental, in addition to that prepare for very low fps unless you’re on 3090 with i9....
So much of navigating Star Citizen is knowing the workarounds and fixes for all the little 'issues' you encounter. Videos like this are very helpful.

I hit the tab to scan and see the spider web X structure.

And please use the issue council to report bugs. That goes for you streamers too, be an example.
