One tip I would give to newcomers that's not in the video and I haven't seen in the comments... When you set a route on the star map, look at the top-left. You should see things like QT Fuel available, amount it'll use, waypoints you're going to hit on the route, and at the bottom in white will be a number. That is the time in seconds the total trip will take. Given a trip from Microtech to Crusader can easily take >16min real time with a cheap QT drive, this makes it easy to see if you have time to start up a video or podcast while you jump.
I have a question someone told me that whatever gear you have in your local storage you don't drop when you die so you'll always have them is that true
@@Pupsicola97 Things in local storage (ie in a station and not on you) will not disappear when you die. Only what you had on you. If your ship explodes, only what was in your ship and on you disappears… basically.
depending on the ship obviously, you can often open a door faster by punching instead of shooting because the shield dampens weapon fire but not punching damage 😁
Good vid.. some real nice tips. A few i might add are: 1 Always bring a multitool with tractor beam attachment and a few med pens 2. Turn off engines (with "I" key) whenever you leave your ship...particularly on planets/moons... otherwise it may float away in the wind. Close the doors too. 3. Set regeneration point to to a space station. It will be quicker to get to your ship again when you die. 4. Check you have helmet before leaving an airlock. 5. If you need to go somewhere between QT markers on a planet. Aim for a marker that is in line with where you want to go but somewhere beyond it.... QT and then press U to kill the power and stop the QT when you are close to where you actually want to be.. you still be 100 or more km away but you should be closer than you were.
@@Vioblight Unfortunately, that doesn't always work for everyone. I caught that working only once for myself. Thus, have to kill the power switch with "U"...

Top Things New Players Should Know: 1. Don’t buy concept ships. Could be years and years before you ever see it. 2. Believe nothing CIG says about what will be released soon or what they’re currently working on. They’ve proven their words are highly unreliable. 3. Don’t believe players in-game when they predict dates and times of upcoming patches, releases, wipes etc. Not even CIG knows most of the time, the players sure as hell don’t. 4. Don’t buy into the hype. Enjoy the game for what it is, not for what you hope it will be. Otherwise you’ll find yourself irritated most of the time and having spent way too much money. 5. Always check to make sure you’re wearing a helmet.
When looting an outpost there is no need to worry about what fits in your backpack or whether you can carry the armour boxes. Just move the items from the loot box to the outpost local storage then when you get back inside your ship you can transfer everything directly from outpost local storage to your ships storage. Obviously, you need to have your ship at the outpost so it won't always be possible to do this trick at bunkers that won't let you land nearby. Even if you don't want to take any armour from the loot boxes, it can be a good idea to take a helmet to leave on the ship as a spare for those times when you realise you left your helmet at the burger joint :-) You might also leave a helmet in the outpost local storage for those times when you get as far as the outpost airlock before you realise you don't have a helmet and only have 1% health left so cannot get back to your ship and cannot go to the other buildings looking for a helmet.
Afaik OM1 and OM2 are the north and south poles respectively and OM3-6 orbit the equator. This helps a lot when the map won’t make a route and for example have to get to a planet from the back side of a moon
@@DedLeader man i have a ton of account bound gear, guns, tools etc you can try out with 20+ ships. Basically i own everything from the store, members and concierge.
LOL, using OMs... Here's another tip; the dotted icons on a planet or moon means they are behind the planet from you. You can slingshot directly to that spot rather than using OMs. Just point at one you want and QT to it. Much cooler and faster than jumping twice using OMs. Although you need to be by the planet for the markers to show up. If you are jumping from one planet to the next, you can double-click the target planet in the Starmap. This will bring up an in depth view of the outposts and OMs. You can then set your route to them and QT jump.
You forgot to mention to punch ship doors to open them. Hope on top of of a Connie and punch the the hell out of the air lock to sneak in (did that last week).
Another thing to keep in mind with the quantum drive is that you'll see many more markers when you remove your route, even if you haven't activated a route the points available to you will always be those from only the planet or moon you're close to, or the planet and moon system but by opening your starmap with F2 and clicking on removing your route you'll see that when you get back at your main screen that you now see many more points you can quantum drive to and this is especially helpful when you know you're taking a lot of risk and you need to get out and get far super fast because you normally only see the points around the moon or planet that you are at and you don't see the points from the other planets and moons in the stanton system but if you make sure that you don't have any route set before you get at the destination you need to get away quick from you'll give yourself much more chance to get away from your enemies instead of pointing to some quantum point nearby where they can follow you and still able to take you out. Another tip that I have is when you get people on your tail shooting at you, give them the biggest surprise they probably didn't expect by turning and going right into the fight with everything you got, you have a chance to do the unexpected, totally dominate the fight because of it and walk away clean with a lot of pride... Even if you don't win the fight it will ensure you the fastest and hottest gameplay in the game right now and you may earn some respect or so that you can join the party, who knows what can happen.

The square with the pointy bit at the bottom? I take it you've never heard of baseball. That shape isn't by accident. It's a "home plate." Look up "baseball home plate." So it made sense for them to use this marker, because these aren't just cities, but also the starting "home" locations.
q and e leans out from cover. Will help considerably during comat situations by not exposing your whole body everytime you want to shout someone while in cover.
You got it backwards...the 2 scu box is easier to take into the bunker, due to it being thinner than the 2 scu box. Yes, it's longer, but it fits through the broken bunker doors much easier. But I do have a trick to make the 1 scu box easier to get through than it is normally. Get it straight as possible, and then tilt it back a bit. This allows you to see the front of the box and thus see if it's off center a bit, and make a correction before pushing it through the door. But, with the 2 scu box, I don't need to do this, because it is significantly thinner than the 1 scu box, but longer front to back.
Bunker with 2 packpacks solo doesn't do much good - can't hold a weapon and if someone gets you from the side or elvated position. Might be good for groups as a front push with folks behind you for cover with weapons.
It took me 2 days to get out of my hanger. The stupid Space bar was not working. I had to have another player to come and lift my ship off then the space bar worked.
Yo for the spooled but won't warp thing, you don't have to look away or 360 or anything, you just have to move your target off of the center of the warp point most of the time. Aim beside the point and not at it and it rarely happens
@@DedLeader yeah if you are aimed off center while spooling and targeting it will still target and let you warp. Since I started aiming off center the warping fails more like twice a month instead of every day like before

The Breach and Steal contract, at least for now, is a great way to get Tigerclaw and lots of eash aUEC. There are at least 2 Tigerclaw in the kitchen area. The contract right now seems to be broken as no NPCs attack you, so once you find the reclaimer you just grab the package and take it to Grim Hex. Could take you 5-10 minutes and it rewards 73k aUEC, not including all the weapons and armor lying around. Right now its pretty much the easiest money there is.
Sometimes. Other times the package is past 6+ guards, which leads to quite the hefty crime stat if that matters to some. Other times the box appears in the entry for easy pickins.

Are bunker missions different now? Are some not spawning loots crates? I've come back after a year of not playing and wanted to do a few last night, I did 2 missions on Hurston and neither had any loot crates
No they certainly have loot crates still, but sometimes you can get a bunker that's just been freshly picked and there won't be much in them left which can be a bummer!

Close the crates after you loot them! it can mess up the loot respawn if you dont
People cant close the terminals an you want them to close the loot boxes lol
These things shouldn't be problems to begin with
I'm not seeing a close option.
Thank you for this great video, they help so much. Thanks again.
You're very welcome!
Found this out if your starting point is Orison their is free armor and p4 assault riflles in what looks like a triage area on the roof of one of the buildings that has ships on display
The square with the pointy bit at the bottom? I take it you've never heard of baseball. That shape isn't by accident. It's a "home plate." Look up "baseball home plate." So it made sense for them to use this marker, because these aren't just cities, but also the starting "home" locations.
Very nice paint on the Gladiator.
q and e leans out from cover.
Still had something on that I did not know. Thank you
Bunker with 2 packpacks solo doesn't do much good - can't hold a weapon and if someone gets you from the side or elvated position. Might be good for groups as a front push with folks behind you for cover with weapons.
Another tip:
OM-1 is always the North Pole, OM-2 is always the South Pole
It took me 2 days to get out of my hanger. The stupid Space bar was not working. I had to have another player to come and lift my ship off then the space bar worked.
HaHHAHAHA wtf spaceship game, why you do this to us?
Sums up SC pretty good.
Welcome to the verse here are some bugs that make it unplayable 😂
Yo for the spooled but won't warp thing, you don't have to look away or 360 or anything, you just have to move your target off of the center of the warp point most of the time. Aim beside the point and not at it and it rarely happens
Interesting, do you mean keep it off the center WHILE it's spooling?
@@DedLeader yeah if you are aimed off center while spooling and targeting it will still target and let you warp. Since I started aiming off center the warping fails more like twice a month instead of every day like before
whats your pc specs, you get really good fps and im jealous so i need to know your specs lol
City marker looks like a home plate in baseball
pro tip skip the food bars CRUZ 4 Life. And move all to Local storage at Outpost then load from Local to Ship when you board. Leave junk behind in locale storage. Clearing out loot boxes recycles them faster for U or the next citizen. Med guns sell 700+ at clinics will make more on loot then tier-1 box missions, tip Noobs.
Now can you show us how to save / gain more frames? Like you did?
number 2, respooling... >> just rotating your ship a bit with Q and E works as well btw, without respooling
Are you for real? This is huge if true.
@@DedLeader yes, sometimes i have to rotate 180*, sometimes just reposition a tad to the left or right and then it suddenly works, that's in 3.19 mind you, i have not logged in to 3.18 in the past month, so can't say if it's the case over there as well
How do you get that paint for the Gladius? It’s awesome! Also very helpful video thanks dude.
+1 I want that paint
It's the Solar Winds paint, they sell it during pirate week!
Would help to put the links to sites in the description. All good info tho
The gladius storage is actually on the side, not where the entry is.
Good overview.
Thanks!
Saw you in global the other night. Felt like I saw a star lol. You had just finished this video and needed a ride.
Hahahaha, yeah I THINK SOMEONE WAS JUST ACCEPTING AND ABANDONING MY BEACON so nobody could pick me up so I just logged off and back on again after I did the Comms Aray bit!
@@DedLeader I was torn..... I wanted to help but I figured you were a RUclipsr everyone else plus run to help... and I didn't feel like having you smoke me and take my ship. Unfortunate you were stranded that one guy was supposed to bring you a gladius.. guess that never happened.
Wow wow wow now. How did you fast transfer? When did this come to the game????
Stupid that you can't eat the ball sack looking thing! Seriously though, these are all good tips. Wish you were around when I started. I ran right into it in the 2.3 era. My first experience was of course dying just outside of the air lock because I didn't know I didn't have a helmet on. Passed right by that danger sign!
Hahhaah the tutorial they added to the game recently doesn't even teach you to put a helmet on either!
Before starting? So is it out? Can we all start?
Cry into the bucket please sir, I'm user salty gamer tears to make soup for the homeless.
Such an abundant resource, be a shame to waste it.
@@wafflesinsanity you don't have to fight anyone on the ship. That's what I said in my previous comment.
@@Halfzipp you do if the mission is working properly. It's a criminal mission, you should be getting a CS when going aboard or fighting the ships on the outside.
@@wafflesinsanity you're missing what I'm saying. My original comment said that as of right now, because it's broken, it's a super easy way to make money and get Tigerclaw. Again, Right now, because it's broken, it's an easy way to make money. Obviously when the AI are not broken its more challenging.
@@Halfzipp use of exploits is discouraged during the alpha, but I see your point.
lovely vid u for sure got a new sub
Awesome content!
Herman Munster is one of my favorite SC youtubers.
I can hear it now. Though a younger version.
I have a question. I startet the game an first Thing i did was crash my ship in the Hangar and lost all the Equipment i bought with my starting money.
Now i dort even habe enough to buy a space helmet
How do i survive on Planets without it?
No one messes with Terrell.
I rarely find loot at Farms and mines now
Great vid!
Dint you get a CS for just turning the security post off?
Meaning someone will get a bounty to kill you?
Again not played with those for months lol
you know that timer thing i do the same thing. its dumb idea. like it tricks the mind into making u spend in game money even tho u wont get the ship to spawn faster. its funny cuz i too wait that timer up before paying. but most poeple jsut press it anyways and still end up waiting. its built in such a way to make u spend money. but yet at the same time u don't get it any faster
Its a good point. I hit it then re-equip, or go run errands.
@@festersmith8352 yep i claim then run off to get drinks or food or meds
I wish I would have know I would spend 3 hours on a mission just have my ship glitch flip on the ground and end up losing 5 times the money I stood to make.
I can’t get it to run properly:( I have a good PC but it lags so hard I get stuck behind doors, hangers won’t open and tam stations won’t load. Took an hour to take off and it lagged so hard I blew up. Never even got out of atmosphere:(
stupid question time: how does one get the drugs off the station? the security ship plinks my ship out from under the pad and turrets shoot it.
😍 I play Star Citizen for the Ballsack Looking Fruits.
my biggest issue in SC thus far is the bugs. If im not falling through the planets im getting spat out of my ship into space
This was the case with me as well, in fact for the last year or two I wasn't even able to install the game. But recently I got a new computer and everything works great. Literally haven't crashed once.
shoot for loot boxes in foods just loot the cruz drinks. the food and water
what paint is on the gladius at the start?
Solar Winds! You can get it during pirate week!
"ballsack" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 o7
Are bunker missions different now? Are some not spawning loots crates?
I've come back after a year of not playing and wanted to do a few last night, I did 2 missions on Hurston and neither had any loot crates
No they certainly have loot crates still, but sometimes you can get a bunker that's just been freshly picked and there won't be much in them left which can be a bummer!
@@DedLeader I just had one with some loot crates
The previous 2 was just bare of p much everything, right after I completed the mission. Got like 2 smgs and no crates. Not sure maybe it's a connection thing too as it was quite laggy server side when I was on yday
I just wish I was able to play this past weekend. Every time I tried going somewhere or doing something worth a damn, the game crashed. Every time.
Looks like a fun game, but too buggy.
Dude the hits on the salty one - I love that. Dude has always irritated me with the neuroticism.
Hey DedLoeader when will you stream on twitch again?
I'm enjoying not streaming TBH, less stressful. But I have had the desire to do a random stream recently so MAYBE SOON?
When are you going to make the jump to HOSAS?
I have duel sticks and rudder pedals, but my desk is too cluttered with them and I can't afford mounts!
Need a sponsor to hook me up tbh
@@DedLeader make mounts yourself. you're old enough to use tools, right? university of youtube will help. that's the path I'm on right now, just ordered the sticks, modifying the detachable arms from my gaming chair to attach platforms for the stick bases. it won't be pretty but I'm not trying to use it to attract a mate.
This is so useful. Thanks for doing this vid.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice Video.
just drink the green bottle it fills health and hydration
I kinda wished I knew the state of 3.18 before playing for my first time. Then realizing there’s gonna be 2 wipes coming in the near future 😂
If it's your first patch, damn that's rough.
It'll get better though.
Play on the PTU until 3.18.2 goes live!
Among us!
did you ever get that crater filled ?
I didn't do well, but I saw video of others who did pretty well!
Comprehensive!
Those helmets are worth money
Hexagon pentagon bro 😂😂
Ignoring those 'commodities' such as ranta dung etc, that you find in the grey/white boxes is a mistake. Sure you won't get much profit from them but cumulatively they do make a contribution to your aUEC.
Most things found in boxes are sellable, so my advice is...sell them!! Grow your wallet!!
ok this is awesome
Wish the Quantum Drive was more accessible with it's usage. Currently it just feels very awkward trying to get to the other side of a planet.
Do you still believe they will make a game out of this tech demo? Will they run out of money before it can be called a game? What player number limits per solar system are they aiming for? Will there ever be more than one solar system?
They sell nicely sometimes tho
Can someone tell me how I save my progress throughout the game?
It is not quite that simple, because it is an open world, real time multiplayer "Simulation". No saving everything before a cave mission, for instance. Everything you do has some level of risk(and that's AFTER the bugs). You can stash stuff in stations but most storage outside can be destroyed.
I have to be vague because I'm new and learnt most of this watching youtube lol
On a ship w/a bed you can "bed log" and next time you play you'll wake up where you were, if you're lucky. Or...floating in space, lol.
Could everyone please close the box after looting ? Thank you.
You're confusing lootboxs with lowering the toilet seat I think.
@@DedLeader no really why is there an option to do it then ?
@@splaff666 I'm not seeing an option to close them.
you probably absolutely ruined that guy's day just clothes lining him out of nowhere lol.
Sorry, DedLeader, but I might be part of why the farms seem so meager. But I have guns.
Actually you can in fact eat the melon.
Shhhh, don't tell anyone or they'll realise I'm a dummy!
I eat melons, hydrated and food
The "ball sack looking thing" comment gained a like from me.
whatever you do don't eat that one
Tip #1 play a different space sim. Haha! Take my money Star Citizen. I need that Vulture for some reason I can’t explain.
