This 22 year old hit 8 of 10 at 40 yards, under duress and fire. That’s one hell of a feat and gives credence to training at a distance. Further, there seem to be reports of the initial victim also carrying a firearm but was unable to use it as he was murdered in surprise by the active shooter. This just means that while my heart goes out to all the victims, it’s ever so much more important for more law abiding citizens to carry because sometimes, one may be given enough time to react while others are not so lucky.

I’m so happy that this young man wasn’t prosecuted or even questioned. I live less than 10 minutes from that mall and my first thought was “would I have pulled that trigger?” Not because I’m afraid to engage but because the legal system has punished good samaritans over and over again when they are morally 100% correct in their actions. Common sense isn’t so common nowadays
Same here. My biggest question is, is there any messed up law that says a legal gun owner is “obligated” to intercede? Because I’m not. If an active shooter isn’t shooting at me, I’m running. I’m not risking my freedoms for someone else’s safety, I didn’t sign up to do so and I don’t get “qualified immunity” for it. And it’s not that I don’t care about other people’s safety, but my safety is my priority. And too many good people get prosecuted for doing the right thing. Lawfully owning and morally using a gun is a scary thing in today’s world.

I’m really glad that there was a responsible gun owner around that was able to handle his business. I’m troubled that more of my fellow Americans choose to not exercise their 2nd amendment rights. Too many people expect someone else to take care of problems for them, instead of taking the time to learn how to solve themselves. This is both the greatest country in the world for out freedoms and rights and the saddest country for the masses that would rather be a sheep regardless.
Well when it isn't legally in someone's best interest to carry yeah I don't blame them. Because they might be legally allowed to and that they could get criminally charged for taking out that threat or they could get off criminally and then the family can come after them and civilly be liable before killing the perpetrator. For example I like out in Arizona if you killed the perpetrator you would not be civilly or criminally liable for it. but these laws suck in most other states.

Couldn't or wouldn't? It might have played out entirely different if one of those teachers had been armed. Since the mall wasn't filled with grade school kids, there was a man who was prepared to act. He didn't linger safely in a hallway for an hour, he acted in a matter of seconds and stopped the shooter. @@isayadavis5471 Quite frankly, couldn't believe it myself too until the Chief of Police mentioned it. I believe the hits and the time were clarified in a statement that Eli reacted and shot 10 rounds within 10 seconds but I believe the perp was not confirmed to be dead until post 2 minutes.
This occurred in my neighborhood. Kind of a shock, but thankful for the young legally armed hero. Condolences to the victims. The first man that was shot was also armed but didn't have a chance to go for his gun.
Do you think that shooter cared if that was a gun free zone? It probably helped him select a place he thought he could get away with it. That young man that neutralized the shooter is truly a Hero in my book. God bless him!

I live in Indiana. There's so many gun owners here. I was in a bar a few weeks ago. Someone brings up the topic of guns. Turns out, everyone in there was armed. Bartender included.
@@NoahSham I couldn’t live with the thought that I let evil continue without doing everything in my power to stop it. If I give my life to save countless others who are unarmed, then so be it
@@pws3rd170 I see where you’re coming from but I unfortunately would almost agree with Noah. This young man is now under fire from antigun groups calling him a “vigilante”. The poor young man was just enjoying the mall he didn’t go in there looking for a gun fight. It’s a slippery slope. I don’t think I would’ve retreated either but man it shouldn’t be this hard to have basic common sense, but the law makes it hard.

Crazy how this incident isn’t in the media all over America
because it's pro gun
It's on their online media and it's amazing how many people think the citizen who stopped the shooting was wrong.
Saw an article on a lefty news site and all it said was that a shooter killed 3 people in a mall with a “Long Gun”, but didn’t even mention the fact that a civilian with a CCW killed him. So if they do talk about it they just won’t mention who stopped it.

I literally haven't been to that mall in 13 years. Unfortunately I was in there 2 hours before. I looked at my kid and said this place is full of weirdos were leaving and I'm never coming back. Thank you Brain!!!!
Malls have been attracting weirdos. I should follow your advice.
Yeah. It’s turned into a complete freak show there. My wife was down the road at the fashion mall. Normally she would have went to the Greenwood mall; but didn’t want to go there without me & my EDC.
For my fellow Virginians:
“No Firearm” signs in Virginia have no force of law unless they are posted on property that is specifically mentioned in State Law as being off limits to those with a Permit/License to Carry.
Indiana is the same. Basically government buildings, airports, school property, and riverboat casinos are off limits.
I've seen those signs at Tysons mall in Virginia posted.
Good info...
Yes, only thing you really need to concern yourself with in VA is concealed carry if you are intoxicated…which your average responsible adult would not be doing anyway!
@@skippruitt2391 I know the Walmart near me has a "No Open Carry" sign by the door. I don't intend on open carrying when I turn 18 anyways so it shouldn't matter for me.
So happy that this young man was there to stop the threat, by doing so he definitely save lives in the process...He is so much more than a hero, he has a heart for his fellow man and woman.....!
Crazy you have just one man who actually was a responsible license gun owner with the courage to step in and do the right thing...
And 370 plus police officers can't make a conscious decision to enter a classroom to save children while shots are being fired, wow really...... 😳
Amen
And liberals think the cops cowardice disproves the good guy with a gun argument. All it does is prove that we conservatives are correct when we state all the guns should not be left to the government because the government does not have the best interest of American citizens. That's why I recently got a semi automatic shotgun it's a lot more destructive than an AR-15 any intruder in my home isn't going home. But I cut my finger pretty bad so shooting my shotgun would definitely open up the wound and make it bleed a lot. Good thing I have a semi automatic 22. No recoil to worry about.
Shows the difference between courage and coward.
So , You can be a life saving hero, while carrying and saving lives yet be in an "gun free zone " and still be charged !!!!!!
That's what really passes me off.
Constitutional Carry every where is what is needed to be pushed for by Scotus, Congress, all citizens. Especially if we ever want to stop these mass shootings
He did not have a license. Fortunately, Indiana enacted Constitutional Carry a month before this incident.
This is the first I'm hearing of this! No media covers the good guy killing the threat! This is great!
Why didn’t the mall manager go up to the guy with the rifle and tell him he’s not allowed on the property armed? 😁😁😁
Absolute Truth, Kevin!
It really disturbs me, though, some in the media are criticizing the cop for referring to this guy as a Good Samaritan. To the best of my knowledge, one who Saves Lives is ALWAYS a Good Samaritan ‼️
My hat is off to this young hero. You, sir, are a man among men.

Every murder or attempted murder that happens in gun free zones should see politicians and lawmakers held accountable for endangering the public.
Also the families of the deceased shoppers...
I'm glad you actually hear this story on the news.
*Update* on this situation. I live in Indy and the Police Chief of Greenwood (suburb of Indianapolis) The office just made an update. The threat was actually neutralized within 5 Seconds, not several minutes as we previously state.... so this was killer was able to kill 4 in 5 seconds. The defender was able to neutralize threat immediately ( 5 seconds) this update to the story just came out about 4:15 pm EST. So.. this guy was a true hero...
That just further proves the point of the saying, " When seconds count, the police are minutes away".
What if he missed and killed an innocent too. Would you charge him for murder.

The fact the defender was “lawfully” armed is 1000% irrelevant in the course of the good deed he committed.

Maybe now people can begin to understand that We're not a danger to them and that a firearm in the right hands can really be of help.
Good job!.
Flying to Chicago this week for a friend's wedding. I hate that I won't be able to bring my gun and spare mags, but my friend told me that he and his bride will be conceal carrying, even though both their families are anti-gun. It was a real challenge to find a way to conceal a handgun in a wedding dress, but apparently they're going old-school with a garter holster.
Ain't no way he's letting his wedding be a soft target. Wish I could back him up. Not that we're expecting any problems, but the people in that Indiana mall weren't expecting any problems, either.

I've heard that it was 10 braced shots of 40 yards, if true that's some pretty incredible pistol shooting for a high stress situation.
Reports have said that the murderer saw his gun and tried to run back into the restrooms. So the guy hit a moving target from 40 yards with a carry pistol.
the "gun free zone" signs did not stop the murderer . The good man who ignored the "gun free zone" signs did.

On Sunday July 17, 2022, the notorious mass shooter at the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana was 20 year old miscreant Jonathan Douglas Sapirman who was firing his Sig Sauer Model M400 5.56mm caliber Rifle. Sapierman's shooting rampage was soon stopped within two minutes when he was killed from being shot with a pistol by Good Samaritan Hero courageous 22 year old Elisjsha Dean Dicken who single-handedly prevented additional innocent victims from being killed or injured. On Sunday December 29, 2019 at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas, there was also a notorious shooting attack by 43-year old felon Keith Thomas Kinnunen who used a shotgun to murder two church members Anton Wallace, age 64, and Richard White, age 67. Then heroic church member 71-year-old Jack Wilson promptly shot and killed Kinnunen with a single shot to the murderer's head from Wilson's pistol as Jack Wilson saved others from being shot or killed.

You’re right about knowing the law. As of July this year indiana became a constitutional carry state.
We frequent the Greenwood Park Mall and this is the same entrance we use EVERY time. It's a shame that some media outlets are more focused on the HERO carrying in a gun-free zone.

Very brave young man and definitely a hero. I’m happy to hear that law enforcement hailed this man a hero. One thing the officer said is lawful gun owner. I’m genuinely curious as to how the officer would act had the hero been unlawfully carrying that gun that stopped the gunman. Only curious because even a thug can save lives.
Most thugs would high tail out of the place. Which is why they are thugs. They don’t care for the well being of others, which is why they dedicate themselves to robbery and other nefarious acts.
