    What I liked about D4 with "kill all mobs" if that if I skip a few stragglers and reach toward the end of the map, the game will delete those stragglers and add some mobs at the end in a cluster. Either make a more circular design or add a cluster of the rest of the mobs if you explore like 80% of the map and killed most of them on the way (no cheesing of teleporting through the map at light speed with no kills). Just reduce the downtime of not being engaged by mobs. Or a bar like D3 rifts of "ok, you killed enough -- move along"

      Why even bother with this poorly throughout objective? There are still occasions when you have go back and hunt around a bit. It's just not fun to backtrack. Fetching multiple stones? THANK GOD POE 2 doesn't have any of this tedious and boring tasks.

      POE2 doesn’t have tedious backtracking? WTF are you even talking about… First off? Yes, it does… Secondly, the entire poe2 gameplay loop is ass… Forget about having to backtrack for a couple minutes. The entire mapping experience just sucks and feels stepping out of a time machine in 1999.

    I actually like that idea... Zero deaths equals 100% drop rate like whatever would have dropped drops. If you die it drops the 50% so it is a very stark punishment and every time you die after the first it drops another 10%

      ​@all0utmetal735 you can condescend, but this is the most poorly optimized game I've ever seen on console. Most of us think this is a better game than D4, by far, but so what if endgame mapping is consistently dropping frames into the LITERAL 10s.

      @angelus_lucifero full disclosure.. I haven’t made it to endgame yet and seen that. I play on console too and I’ve been dropped from the act 3 boss %50 of the time.. so it’s really frustrating. I’d still rather play PoE though. That’s how much I think D4 cock smooches. That’s coming from a huge D2 fan. Haven’t played it in a while though I’m not sure how good or bad it is now but if I know Activision Blizzard it can’t be anything good.

    Path of Exile 2 does not scratch any itch for me. It's just PoE, but slower and with some fancier graphics. I have gone back to PoE something like every two or three seasons, but I doubt that I will do the same for PoE 2. To me, D4 is more fun to go back to every season for sure.

      I love POE2 but it’s too difficult to enjoy it. I spend more time watching videos on how to become stronger, than enjoying and playing the game. 😔

      Never played PoE1 before, played PoE2 blind, didn't follow any guide or anything, my build is looking okay and I'm doing fine in maps with all resistance capped and 400+ Exalted

    Also: The death and loss of time are more than enough punishment. We are literally paying for every attempt with our life, just piling on even more cost of that is just pure sadism.

    5:30 yea I figured charm slots on the inherent would increase with item level. Advanced belts would have 2 slots and expert belts would have 3..

      @rhykker 6:25 IMO charms are something I use when I'm struggling with a boss. For example, I kept dying on Count Geonor end of act 1 boss. His special attack kept freezing me. I realized I had a freeze charm in my stash, slotted it, then one shot him. Felt good figuring it out

    The biggest selling point for me with POE2 are the boss fights and the talent tree. The itemization side of things feels like such a slog compared to D4. I like the idea of crafting my gear but I don’t feel like the game gives me enough of the resources to do that in a timely manner vs D4. Also these dungeon maps are too damn big, and why must my map of the place reset after I left. I already did the work of finding every nook and cranny.

    I agree with the Endgame BS. It is ok to punish the player, but they need to pick either, death exp penalty, or lose the map, but not both. Personally, I would rather the Exp loss than lose the map activity altogether.
    edit: By the way, there is a hideout based on the act 2 caravan. It is in the King of the Faridun supporter pack.

      They should respawn you and allow to collect your lost xp and if you die again without getting your xp back you lose the map and xp

    I think POE2 should be challenging, but GGG is mistaking punishing mechanics for challenging mechanics. The game can be both challenging and fun without being so punishing.

      People are shitting on D4 mostly :D not other arpgs, I love Grim Dawn tbh, to me skill system is superior to anything in any arpg, itemization is very good too and it's quite hard if you enjoy that, it's not a cake walk, depends on a build

    I could already see a few trending changes basing from gamers feedbacks everywhere like:
    1. More than one portal will be allowed soon 2. map travel changes to counter backtracking and make it significantly faster 3. advance crafting improvement 4. Lessening of on-death effects if not full removal.
    I think sooner or later these changes will eventually be implemented. Adjustments are all part of Beta testing. In this case, it's just early access, Beta testing is coming 6 months from now and this game will be very different in the full release.

    28:31 "One of the best ARPG's of the last generation"... come on! I love Grim Dawn and still play a lot of it along side Diablo 4. My cabalist Menagerie build is the most casual character that i have ever played in a ARPG, where my minions and pets take care of every thing, i just need to move them in range of the enemies and avoid taking damage. This is something that is challenging in Diablo 4 and almost impossible in PoE1.

      I've done 2 separate play throughs of the game --- and while it has a lot of appealing aspects, its biggest flaw is resembling D2 in that you just run the same campaign/map layouts over and over again; my opinion is that aspect of D2 was not why people loved the game.
      For Grim Dawn, I never bought any of the DLC, so I dont know if they added more randomness there.
      Its just a cardinal sin to me to have any game meant to have replay-ability, yet you fight the same mobs, in the same location over and over again.
      One of the challenges you hear in game development is when they have to make a new asset.
      Which furthers my confusion why so many game companies spend time on 1 and done elements and just dial up the numbers bit and say, "Here, just do that area again, its tougher and gives items with higher numbers!" I.E. playing the same campaign or map area with a new difficulty name attached.
      Instead they could spend that time designing layouts that can be randomized together with variety of monsters that can randomly appear along with random events like how POE 1 does in their mapping system.

    I put a good chunk of time into PoE2 over multiple characters, since I wanted to try everything. I was having a lot of fun until I realized I had the most fun on my warrior character.
    And then I got to the ascendancy trial, realized how much I hate the honor mechanic, and have done 10+ runs trying to complete it, while my witch took like 2. Then I got somewhat excited when I heard about the honor change, so I tried again with reluctant hope.
    7 more runs and no luck. I had to restart 4 of them because I had taken half my honor by the second room. I should note that my build is tanky, using a 2h with the rolling slam and bone shatter, and with a shield for my second set. Any other issues I've found I've been able to work around, but it's very frustrating to have a well functioning build that I really enjoy playing, but I can't get ascendancy because they decided to make one thing in their game not death related, but making sure you have an avoidance build? It's so strange to me.
    I get that honor was implemented to make the mode a Slay the Spire clone, but everything about it needs to be reworked IMO. The permanent curses are WAY too punishing and frequent. It acts like it wants to be a risk/reward mode, but right now it's just a "Luck out and get the least bad curses and room set ups" mode, and there's really very little strategy. This is all from Act 2, so maybe it's a better balance in higher levels, but if you don't intend on me unlocking the ascendancy now, why unlock it here? Why not in Act 5 on the re-play or something like that?
    Adding to the frustration is that I'm mainly playing on PS5, and it currently has a bug where if you lose all of your honor while alive it soft locks the game 100% of the time.
    All that said, it's early access, they've been working pretty quickly to fix things during a holiday month, and I have a giant backlog I still need to get through with new stuff coming out constantly so having to wait for it to cook a bit more isn't a big ask and I'm excited to see where they land. I do hope they lean in to the souls-like mechanics and don't just make the end game POE but slower.

    Enemy big hits SHOULD be very apparent, even with screen full of animations and effects. They SHOULD take priority over everything else so they are always something you can see and then react to. Clusterfiesta of shit happening makes these sometimes imposible to see, and that is just bad design.

    I love Diablo and i would choose Diablo over path of exile 2 if i could. But i have to be honest. Path of exile 2 is a massive game and has a ton of actual good mechanics in its game even in its early access stage. And i think path of exile 2 is actually good for the future of Diablo as a whole. They will try their best to surpass GGG. And I'm excited for both if the series.

    PoE2 would also be vastly improved if inventory tetris was retired being the archaic dead "mechanic" that it is. Also if they put Torchlight's pet mechanic in the game (extra inventory, sending pet to town to sell junk, pet abilities) it would take everything to the next level of convenience without sacrificing complexity.

      Nah.. I like that some items are bigger than others and that you can see more detail in them. It makes the game feel better when things look better and have a scale instead of a piece of armor taking up the same space as a ring. Makes no fuckin sense lol.

      @acronen yea it does get cumbersome going back and forth to vendors every 10 minutes but realistically how many items can a person actually hold? Maybe they can introduce a backpack with a stash size inventory tab? I’d say that would be fine at like %10 percent slower movement speed lol. Something has to make sense and GGG is always giving you the good with the bad at the same time.

      @@all0utmetal735 If they were even remotely going for realism with the game, sure that would be fine, but a loot based ARPG (especially with the limited number of times you can even portal back to town in maps to sell if you like to actually look at loot like me) it isn't good. It's frustration for the sake of frustration, which to me it seems like the developers of this game really like doing that and pretending it adds value.

      They seem to have considered the idea of having casual players, but decided against it. The time investment required just isn't worth it to most people. The average gamer plays 7 hours/week, but they seem to have calibrated the game for guys who play that much or more every day. If they want a few thousand dedicated, loyal players, they're on the right track. If they want to keep player numbers up, they need to make some changes.

    i really havent been enjoying poe 2 that much. been playing the srs infernoist and just hard stuck in act 2 on the last boss. been trying to find upgrades but no luck. been looking up guides and i feel like theres info about the build thats completely left out. for exampled i found out that life can be converted for spirit (atless what i was told) but no clue how. i dont know...

    I agree with all of your points. Especially the runes. Also, you can get an extra charm slot in the passive tree. It’s on the outer ring of the Ranger section.

    They could make charms need manual activation instead of being automatic, but not by requiring to new button. But an alert should show up on the screen that you're bleeding, or poisoned or whatever and rolling will activate the charm. Maybe there's a better implementation, but one thing's for sure, I DON'T WANT MORE BUTTONS TO PRESS!

      @@diogobeato ⁠​⁠crafting feels better in d4 for example. The orbs in poe2 are just poorly designed and impossible to experiment with due to the lack of currency. If they changed, I believe it was the chaos orb, to remove the last modifier it would add “some” control in crafting.

    POE2 is great but there are many, many quality of life and technical improvements that they would have to fix. Console versions have many technical issues, like FPS drops. No trading ingame but outside the game. And no tutorial whatsoever for many important things. No explanation at all.
    For example, D4 looks (visually) almost the same and with dozens of people on screen smashing world boss, everything runs smoothly - in PO2, fps goes down to 20-30 when in town with other players.

      @@Zederok in what world? I have multiple chars on my lvl in Dia 4 and can't see how this is better.
      POE2 is in early access and the first 3 acts are better then all of diablo 4. Sure there are problems, Dia 4 is one big problem, for full price, after having betas. You still get treated as a tester because they couldn't release a finished product!

    I think for POE2 endgame, they should remove the 10% xp loss. You go through the game knowing you will dye yet there are checkpoints. Then you get to the endgame content which is supposed to be the highest challenge of the game and now you're punished for dying? I never liked nor will never I ever think XP penalty is ever needed in a game. It's just frustrating and doesn't take your time into account. Not everyone can spend hours playing per day to mitigate those losses. What if when you dyed in a map, they could give you a number of tries and after that the map is locked. You then have to get a key by doing other maps. You could have a 50% chance or whatever to find a key per map. Then you go back to unlock and try again. That would keep you moving and playing without being too punishing or frustrating. Anyways that's just an idea. I sadly I'm still in Act 1 since me hard drive decide to die on me and I can't play without having to reinstall the game from scratch everytime to play once. Verifying the game files ends up in having the message corrupt disk. Leaving me with no choice but to reinstall.

    For ritual i actually set my pets up in a corner and activate my offering put flame walls down in front of the minions, then click the ritual so the pets clear out the corner so its a place to stand. Then I work my way into a bigger place to stand. It's kept me alive now doing that in t13+ rituals with minions. Breach actually can be more dangerous to me so far than ritual.

    As much as people love poe2, I still love Diablo and GD and others. I really don’t care for the itemization of poe and that’s a huge deal. I wanna slay monsters and get loot, not spend tons of time crafting and looking at trade sites and all that. Plus losing my currency in order to try to craft feels bad to me. I think there’s a lot of room for improvement and that’ll keep me playing d4 and GD and others in between poe2. My year will likely look like playing each arpg season for 1 month and rotating them

      @@Uncle19 This is very true. I like a lot of the aspects about the various games, but there ARE some things I wish we could have in PoE2 that seem like they're in PoE1. Hopefully that Crafting Table returns to fine-tune our gear better like it seems PoE1 has, instead of massive RNG for the most part that we have now.
      Also a way to better utilize the buying/selling/trading in-game instead of relying on external websites and all that garbage. There shouldn't be all this extra work. Put in some kind of Auction House or search methods or something within the game itself.

      I think the itemization is far worse in D4, also no other ARPG comes close to POE 2 when it comes to boss fights and just combat in general. No ARPG has an auction house in game so to single out POE seems very weird. You also say that you don’t like crafting but then say you want the crafting from POE 1 back which is crazy. Just say the game isn’t for you and move on lol.

    On another note too, I really like how I got back into D4 and I was like a level 20 something and it automatically put me to level 50 so now I can just chill in the campaign cause I haven’t even gotten close to beating it and just figure out what I like to play. I’m not gonna lie. I’m not really feeling rogue. I kinda wanna play as a sorcerer

    IdealDM: I 100% agree that the death penalty is too steep and there's a need for a death recap to help us figure out what needs adjusting on our builds. On the issue of drops being uninteresting, you're right, in part, it's because of the difficulty of integrating those loot in our builds and I assume if we could replace the runes on an item (with a currency or table, even if this means that the rune is destroyed in the process) it could make it easier to use the loot we find. Again, I 100% agree that the speed modifier and any other mandatory modifier should be at least part of an implicit pool.

    If you want to get GGG's attention about the weak gear drops in endgame tell them the drops and gear is worse than in D4, Exalted orb drop rate is about 1 in 1000 mob deaths so gambling is a pain as well.

    I definitely agree with you on the gear puzzle situation, especially with attribute requirements. Still plodding my way through Act 2 Cruel and managed to find my first belt with two charm slots...except I don't want to swap out my current rare belt (100+ life, some resists and other nice mods). Overall I have found the game does get easier in the Cruel difficulty acts...was able to get past the Act IV boss in one try, and loving my Stormweaver combo of Arc (lightning) for most mobs + Ice Wall/Frost Bomb/Comet for Rares and Bosses. I love the flexibility of the support gems and the ability to experiment with different combinations. Adding a knockback support rune on Arc or Ball lightning is hilarious to watch mobs get pushed around, especially the little swarming bugs in Act II/V (though I am most amused when a monster get frozen in mid-air before getting shattered by my lightning). =^-^=

    It's more fun to go in blind. I've been playing through act 2. The bosses have been the best part. First time, I fought the Act 1 boss....it was so amazing. I loved it. So many changes. I was literally yelling at the monitor as the boss went through the changes. I was so excited.
    Biggest problem I have with POE 2 is the attributes. What are they good for? They don't increase your damage; they are only good for equipping items. More strength = health, but items give me better health. More int = mana, but I just get more regen unless i need to equip an item. I'm constantly switching out nodes because of armor. It's so frustrating. Why do they need attribute requirements on equipment? If it drops, let me wear it.

    I like the mapping the way it is, but best way would be to add a lot more boss nodes on maps atm they are maybe 5-10%. They should up them to 30-40% this way builds that cant do bosses and those that can can be happy. Adding bosses to every map will end up with same issues as in poe 1. Also agree with tower. Adding a straight boss fight in towers would be very cool instead of the mindless speed run to exit and using useless map on it. Boss dont even need to be very hard so people with weaker non boss builds can do it as well. They cant add hard boss there as it would brick half the builds, and considering its key mechanic or you cant find any more maps... you can imagine. Regarding Ritual, problem is more with your build. I run infernalist and originally i strugled to. You should cap your block and go High ES with Grim. This way you will be fine.

    9:28 visual pollution - there should be an option in any action styled rpg to reduce player visual pollution. I have said this about d3 and 4, last epoch, and last ark. It stays for this game too.

    Death is incredibly punishing. I have vision problems, so it's often difficult for me to tell in which direction a boss will even cast an ability (like the Act 2 end boss). It's overly frustrating to deal with It would be great if there was a "vision impaired" option that could make it a little more obvious where the ability will be cast. Maybe not as obvious as WoW dungeon/raid indicators, but ... throw us a bone here. I love the game, but would love to get past that boss without requiring the aid of a friend to do it.
    I love the challenge this game presents, but I hate being punished for things that are well outside my control.
    As for the D4/WoW promotion, the blue post from Blizzard says the "rewards will be delivered on January 13". You just need to own both The War Within and Vessel Of Hatred by January 7 at 10am GMT-8.

    I got bored of the pacing of poe2 in act 2 and I don't really have much of a desire to go back. I honestly don't understand why people are enjoying it. I recently re-downloaded D4 and it just feels so much smoother to play. I hated D4 at launch, but it's honestly pretty solid now.

    I agree on both make the "more charm slot" as an implicit on the belt and "more % move speed" as an implicit on boots.
    What I don't like is the "usage" of the charm, the idea of the charm is to avoid piano flasking which to me it was one of the things I really disliked about POE, though I respect your opinion, maybe they can give a better visual on the automatic usage of the charm as an UI element and make the charms way better? and the implicit (belt) being a little bit easier to get.
    The idea of having "signature" affixes for different slots as implicits make a lot of sense Rhykker, more movement speed makes a lot of sense as implicit for boots, more charm slot as implicit on belt, maybe more armor % as implicit on plate armors (armor for melee), physical dmg % on melee weapons, etc, it makes sense to have a "signature" implicit for particular items.
    I also agree on a mob killing you after you killed them, besides all the stacking of defenses that we need (getting max elemental resistance, elemental resistance, armor, evasion, energy shield, etc etc) is impossible to be checking up on everything. One shots should be part of bosses (on telegraphed attacks).
    It is also true that 1 death = losing not only the thingy for the map (hell maybe you used an orb of alchemy on it) and losing everything on that map (boss encounter, all mechanics) is a lot. I think the idea of losing 1 portal each death is good enough and don't take out the different mechanics (strongboxes, shrines, boss, delirium, etc etc), if they want to make it difficult just leave the experience loss as a way to trade off the rest.
    The gear change is on purpose, you dont craft the perfect item, almost everything is non deterministic, that is why you stop when a piece of gear you are crafting does not have the affix you like (for example the 1st two and if you dont like the 3rd one (regal orb it) then leave it, the rest is exalted orbs and you commit to use big currency and you will lose some and will win too).
    But in general I'm loving the game, the currencies drops way more often than POE, I'm learning how to craft thanks to this (I already crafter really cool gear with really good prefix, suffix by learning about good base items), I don't have to buy a weapon as trade, as I can get more experience with videos and my currency to get better crafting even if I'm making mistakes, that's the idea, to make mistakes and learn (hell, bossing is that).

    If they up the drops in SSF then you can't allow the character to convert to the trade server. There has to be a point in which you create your character where you say okay, I'm not going to put this character on the trade server,I'd like to have more drops

    For the flasks, this is almost no change for me. As I either 1) used intilling orbs on my flasks, or 2) made sure I was immune to it anyways. And then there is also the exception of 3) I didn't give a fuck about that ailment effecting me anyway.

    Agree on your suggestions about gearing and crafting, it's just too risky and too many unknowns.
    D4 has a more friendly, flexible, intuitive, and deterministic crafting system. If I don't get the item I need or want, there is a good chance I can try to craft for it.
    If poe2 can incorporate some of the crafting features of D4, it would make it more accessible to an even wider group of people

      Feels like different group of people want different things.
      There's people who want infinite grind with highly randomized stuff like PoE2.
      Then we have Last Epoch where you can actually get items but some people there said like there's no loot to chase.
      And then we also have people who prefer if they actually get the loot so LE or D4 is fine for them.
      Welp, these people should switch games and stick to it.

    another feedback i think is worth mentioning. i joined my friends party who is level 5, im level 35 necro, doing really well in act 3, was thinking leveling my friend will be super easy and quick cause i will destroy everything at level 5....NOPE!! the monsters are not dying quick. it seems like either my powers downgrade to level 5 area cause of the party or the monsters got more power to adjust to mine and the xp is per level 5 player. really weird! and a bit annoying

      There's an option to downscale while partied with lower level players, which is on by default. You can turn it off if you want to steamroll things for them, though they'll get less exp. (This setting is controlled by the party leader.)

    kind of just listing my thoughts as the vid goes with PoE2 here, Rhykker:
    -Honor change is 'nice" and yet still a mind stress(t3/4 ascend trials will be a new fear unlocked soon for me)
    -the checkpoint traveling is a need, TY GGG
    -Blackjaw... I still feel is overtuned
    -charms imho would be better off as an ilvl tied implicit or campaign rewards from optional bosses with number indicators saying "I PROC'D! X USES LEFT, EXILE!"
    -Move Speed boots ARE a NEED. Even at 20% I felt like I easily need more. Implicit'ing that roll, even to ilvl, would probably be "too much like right", but I'd NOT say NO to it!
    -Dodge Rolling needs a few/few more IFRAMES and a mini cooldown/gap between rolls so that it's not spammable.
    -I'm nearing Endgame on my own infernalist but have heard from a few people that it irritates them to lose a lot from dying once and want me to hurry up with my "defensive" build. Yay Minion distractions \o/
    -As for getting ran down in tight spaces like ritual, I use bone cage+blind+pin to keep enemies away from combo'ing on me while I flame wall/srs x2 (for 10), put my army between me and them, then channel bone storm through the wall with added fire damage. it's a nice spike in damage on top of the minion strikes during campaign (idk yet with atlas mapping)... but that's me... for now
    -The disconnect with the game with bosses and dying in campaign and atlas is something I am apprehensive about coming to when some buddies of mine are saying not happy thoughts about that as they don't like poe1's hardcore league. As for seeing streamers and guides, I find that with the one-shot attempt to be a a failure on the dev's part. The fight teaching is not organic and is outside of the game
    -the lacking move speed and map *vastness* are compounding the problem and why we love us some move speed boots XD
    -the attributes got me stretched thin, and runes being changeable via re-attaching a on a new replacing socket would be welcoming indeed
    Gotta love EARLY ACCESS! Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh *resumes self flaggel- - I MEAN PoE 2 gaming*

    I would add regarding PoE2, Summons should go into their own separate tab, Occult needs more "dark" type spells. I would say Chaos (mostly dots), Bone (direct damage) and Blood (combination of both). I did make a Blood Mage, and went down the Hexblast route. Having to wait for curse to activate prevents me from using Hexblast effectively from afar. Playing with curse as an aura, forces me to get close to monsters and with all the one shot mechanics from regular/rare mobs makes for a bad experience in the end game.

    Best way to implement charms imo would be that you have a setting for "auto-use threshold" ... say a charm has 80 charges and uses 10 every time. Now I put that threshold setting to 50% which causes the charm to get used automatically (like it does currently) down to 40 charges ... and stops there, if I get more charges it will resume the auto-use function but below 40 charges I have to use a button for it to get used. And I can freely change that threshold. Set it 0% and it works basically as it does now ... put it to 100% and there is no autouse and can use all charges at will ... That setting could default to 0% to maintain how it works now with the option to change it ...

    There actually IS a caravan hideout….it’s an upper tier supporter pack. And on towers I like them but I feel the amount of precursor tablets you can use should be tied to the tier of map you run the tower as Ie 1 with tier 1 up to 16 with tier 16.

    Playing PoE2 on console is genuinely fucking terrible. I've never played a game on console this poorly optimized. It started out great and progressively got worst. By the time I was running maps in endgame, it became completely unplayable. Any significant enemy density drops frames into the 10s. Breach is the worst offender by far. I wish i could just say it's because of early access, but given GGG's track record with PoE1 optimization, this will likely never get addressed. Not a peep from them. I essentially spent 30 dollars to help fund development of the PC version.

    I don't mind about the charm slots taking up a belt affix. It slightly reminds me of loadout slots in other games where it's a trade off of one thing to get more of another. But also don't really care about it being part of the affix pool. It just is what it is. But they could potentially improve charms to make them more desirable.
    That said, that could be reworked altogether to make charms take up btwn 1-3 slots, thought then it'd just be a little mini version of the charms from D2 or idols from LE.

    Many of the complaints i have, i share with you but i also have confidence that this will be changed before release. One attempt maps, mobs respawning after player death, loot disappearing after player death during campaign. These three issue in particular suggest the process for handling a map (campaign and end game both) beyond player death isn't quite cooked yet. Or maybe it's just disabled intentionally for now.

    In PoE2 I prefer Charms overr flask face-rolling. They wanted to avoid same thing where players would just faceroll all the flasks just to get buffs. Which didn't brought much to the game. Instead, they want these charms to trigger themselves when needed. Given that for now we have third socket for charms still locked, it is clear it is unfinished system and they will improve upon it.

    Checkpoints in Maps imo is 100% needed. I stopped playing because it's way too boring for me to run all the way back to the beginning because I missed a small dead end nook, and that seems to be every map which is not fun for me.
