very "sustainable" with the speaker's tuning depending on the cloud, which will definitely go under with the company(which wouldn't be surprising for a startup), and even the basic tuning depends on the app being in the phone stores which isn't a given if the company isn't there. An IoT speaker pair, for that money? Nah. The aesthetics are intriguing, but everything past that is a total non-starter. I’ll stick with my ADS2030 and assortment of tube amps, thank you very much.
They need to give people access to the DSP so people can tune everything themselves. I don't mean to make it easy or simple. (By all means: profit from the normies that don't understand audio.) But for people that know how (and would want to tinker with it), let them access all the software knobs.
Yeah my receiver has auto-calibration but it also lets me choose between different sound profiles as well as basically adjusting every tiny little thing in the equalization curve, change levels, distances, and a whackton of other stuff. The app is pretty basic for what you can adjust, just things like subwoofer trim, dialog enhancer, surround modes/presets, all the fancy EQ/setup stuff is on screen.
@@your_average_cultured_dude Heck no. The whole point of accessing the onboard DSP is so that you don't have to run software on your computer. I'm no stranger to doing this. I run all my system audio through a DAW to EQ (and crossover) the outputs for each speaker, subwoofer, and pairs of headphones I use. Pipewire is great for this. I'm not sure how much you can do with only stereo speakers. I can see how using a calibration mic with a 5.1 or 7.1 system would be beneficial but with stereo yo have to do most of the work physically with practical room correction. Having the subs on the sides gives you a bit of room to play with but again, lower frequencies depend much more on physical room placement than DSP to sound good.

Hey Dan! Those are way too expensive. Why don't you test devices that your viewers want? Like the Eve Audio's SC203. I bought a pair a few months ago, and I absolutely love them. They deliver the best sound I have experienced in 55+ years, even compared to very expensive music/broadcast studio monitors. They are amazingly small and affordable for the sound they produce. In the same price bracket as many "audio" or "gaming" speakers, they beat them all 10 times with ease for the sound quality. They are easy to set. Their inputs are perfect for today's usage: 2*RCA (unbalanced), 1*optical TOSLINK & 1*USB A Audio 1.0. WARNING! Those are not speakers, but monitors. You will not sound a whole room with them, but they are perfect to enjoy or create content. So they are the best for RUclipsrs and producers on the move... Greetings!
Those amps a most likely based on MiniDSP / ICE power modules - as those use Ethernet to pair together, good stuff, but concerning that the midrange drivers are moving too much ahaha
6300 for a pair... that's indeed a crowded price point with some big names for competition. For this kind of money, you can get a pair of B&W 702 S3's. I wonder if these beat out those B&W's. Sure, you'll still need an amp to go with those 702's, but you don't need an account and they won't stop working if the manufacturer goes belly up or decides to pull the plug on the service. If you really don't want to spend more than 6300, you can still get the 702 S2's for about 4000 a set. You'll still have enough money to get a really good amp, a streamer (or a combo) and a nice turntable. If B&W isn't your brand, Dali's Rubicon 8 can be had in a bundle for about 6000. Or get the Rubicon 6 with a good amp for bout the same price.

With traditional audio equipment it pretty much works until it dies entirely so you can easily resell or hand it down to you kids/grand kids/whatever but for sound bars it isn't quite as straightforward. I have a pair of speaker cabinets from the 80's that were my father's and I've just replaced the actual speaker parts of them because the wooden boxes are still fine of course
The last time I heard a speaker coming out of Austria, it led to a world war.
repairability? what sorcery
2s in and Dan already got the portal reference. Never change, Dan.
Dan!! I would love to know what your reference tracks are. Please share? We could even trade... Love from a current audio engineer
If it's not gonna transform into EVE from wall-e , i m not buying it👽
Oh yeah, you can tell this has *Gabe Newell* written _all over_ them. He's gonna have a couple of these, _at least_ in his house and it's going to be _awesome_ when he posts his pic of them in his 'gram feed while promoting some other weird Portal-relateed project.
I am very upset you did not play the Portal Turret Symphony.
This video makes me want to see these turned into a pair of the turrets from Portal, so badly. It would not take much work to do.
i need an egg room. The egg chair, egg speakers, an egg monitor, egg PC, etc.
these have been hanging in the background for literally months and I couldn't figure out what they were called until now
Maybe I get those Speakers when i move into my own apartment!
the writing, the editing, Dan's delivery, this video was fantastic!
the Dan!
I wonder how they'd fair against Devialet's offerings
using bluetooth to play coldplay on audiophile speakers should be a crime if the app is available and offers true lossless why not use that instead…
i’m not hating on LMG but using Bluetooth In Audiophile Videos should be Banned
Ummm, those are totally portal turrets. I'm not putting this in my house.😂
Deploying...
What, You Egg? [He Stabs Him]
Lout-ed? Lout means something else in the UK. I kinda want to paint it to look like an Aperature Science sentry turret. I also think for that price there's diminishing returns.
Why is Dan sooo cool?! He should host more videos.
A DAN VIDEO. God I love when he hosts
I just want them to be yoshi eggs.
The Sabre DACs are amazing. They're probably THE best DAC chips ever made, period.
Dan should build a rotary sub
1:35 why is one in german?😂
Dan is a RED user, high five!
Greetings!
The egg shape reminds me of the tannoy ellipses which sound amazing to this day. Basically flat up to 40,000 hertz with the super tweeters
Those amps a most likely based on MiniDSP / ICE power modules - as those use Ethernet to pair together, good stuff, but concerning that the midrange drivers are moving too much ahaha
Dan is awesome. He sounds so laidback. A welcome change.
He is literally laid back for the last 3 minutes :))
Omfg!!!!!
Someone make Portal turret leg mounts for these!!!!! Please lol
Lol glad I'm not the only one who thought they were Portal turrets
Stored on the cloud?!?!?! Bs nonsense.
I pay $6300 to deal with service bs?!?!?!?! Hell no. I'll push back against every industry that tries to do service bs. Like Americans want a monthly bill for each nail in their home....
