Well... bought the Ambush kit before I saw this vid. Three things to know: the camera bug is fixed, yes you can watch your settlements from the camera and they'll defend themselves as if you were there which allows you to defend any settlement from anywhere you have one of those monitor banks (this also included modded areas,) and the firing range can sort of be interacted with by settlers in that they'll stand in front of it and perform a firing animation but they aren't actually shooting anything and expend no ammunition... but they need ammunition to actually do this and most NPCs don't have ammunition in their inventories unless you have a mod adding it because NPCs don't use ammunition in the vanilla game, apparently. Some NPCs do spawn with ammo, including many (but not all) settlers (many of whom only get ammo when you access their inventory because that's how the game behaves out of the box, I guess,) but won't sandbox to the think unless you leave the area and come back. As for the value of the Ambush Kit... on release, not worth $5, let alone $9. In it's current state, given the changes it actually makes to gameplay (which are actually kinda huge, given the absurd amount of easy farming it allows for and that's not even considering remote settlement defense which is a huge change,) I'd say it's not the worst-priced thing on the CC. It basically never goes on sale, sadly. Compared to Automatron, I'd say the actual effects on gameplay it has would put it's pricing on comparable value. Automatron adds only one thing that truly changes how you play and even that is minor when you actually stop and think about it: the robot workbench. Robot followers and settlers are customizable, sure. As settlers, they have very different mechanics, right. At the end of the day, all they add is some utillity to Codsworth and Robo Curie and a way to make low-end settlements in areas you can't feed people... which is exactly one location and that location is added by the mod. However, in the AMOUNT of gameplay that you get, Automatron is definitely more bang for your buck unless you really, really like wave-form base defense. I suspect they tried to prevent the passage of time when it fast-travels you to the settlement you're viewing, but transposed Multiplication and Division with the TimeScale. So instead of preventing the passage of time during fast travel, it increases it. Why the months stop changing, I don't know.
@@MrGrey-zc2cy That's a fix for people that want the content, but it isn't a fix for the mindset during this content's creation. To think people would spend 9 bucks on 2/3rds of a working mod is absolutely rediculious.

THANK YOU, Oxhorn! You have validated my claim of Railway Rifles being able to be obtained from Legendary enemies! During my first play through way back in 2015, I looted a legendary Railway Rifle off of a Legendary Super Mutant (I wanna say Warlord, but I can't remember) at that junkyard that you find the Railway Rifle in the box car bunker. It was a Railway Rifle that had the Double Shot effect. Turned it into a night vision scoped railway sniper I renamed as "Midnight Special". But everyone I told about it told me I was lying because Railway Rifles "didn't drop as leveled loot." So, thank you for proving I'm not a liar! I also found at one point, a Troubleshooter's (better damage against robots) Combat shotgun that I upgraded to automatic with drum mag and compensator that I renamed to "Unhandled Exception"
Could not agree more. Having spawn points inside the settlements is absolutely dumb. I have no idea whatsoever what they were thinking. I still wall all my settlements (either entirely, or just their vulnerable crop fields and water purifiers) but the existence of a spawn point inside the build area is… I don’t know what they were thinking. It’s crazy. That said, I adore this creation. It’s my favourite one, I think. It really allows me to double-down on my “minuteman, fortified and bolstered” attitude I take for my settlements - making them little points of light in the wastes. Looking back at the settlements from a distance with the searchlights and fortifications and whatnot makes me feel like I’m doing my job as General - protecting and empowering the civilians who have come into the fold of the reinvigorated Minutemen. I keep my promises; I keep the people safe at a minutes notice. Feels immersive. (The security cameras are a problem, I agree - I installed the monitors in the vault 88 overseer’s room and the castle, and very much treat them and the cameras I installed as decorative, nothing more.)
This addition is amazing for farming and its good fun in general. I spent about 2 or 3 hours fighting Super Mutants and Gunners and in that time I got tens of thousands of ammo, I mean literally in an hour and a half of fighting Super Mutants I now have over 100K 5mm ammo and I started before hand with like 50K 5mm. Must have gotten over 10K .45, 5.56, and Fusion Cells as well. If anyone wants tips, set these lures up at The Castle as their are only 2 spawn points both very far from the actual base itself and use the Captain Cosmo weapon with the Sonic Attachment, it seems to bypass all armor, has a good sized AOE and can kill an entire wave of enemies clumped up in like half a dozen shots on Very Hard for that cheeky speed farming.
MrFuddyDuddy :/ don’t want to spend $16 on this. Just bought captain cosmos and power armor ai prototype rifle. (Got that bc it looked cool) and handmade shotgun. But yes killing these for hours in my lighthouse for hours would be quite enjoyable
This is really fun to use the bait, especially with automatron because I have a small army of assaultrons guarding every settlement and watching them hunt down every last enemy is so worth it
As a historian, I love your "do you know your history?" shirt, and will eventually get it. Eventually. Gotta take care of those raiders breaking my kneecaps first. . .

I feel that for console players or more specifically PS4 players that I really enjoy a lot of these creation club mods because I can’t get custom textures
I really do hope they fix that defense creation mod! It has so much potential but it's very buggy I will either wait for it to be fixed or wait till it's on sale.
The fences were the best part of the mod, you can also put 1/4 floor tiles up on the walls to make a walkway. The decorations are cool but they are just pre-made assets that Bethesda allows you to use
I'm debating on it since it's only 450 credits now and not 900. I wanna see a horde of mutants attack Boston Airport or a bunch of gunners go after my castle
The shooting range does work and the settlers do interact i have ps4 console and it works fine, but the security cameras are VERY glitchy even on console i dont even use them really bc it messes with my game in general
Buggy broken creation mod. You can tell Bethesda tested it. Real shame, too. They actually released something fun that adds a new activity to the game that can be custom built to your liking, and it's broken as fuck. Fantastic. AND they want 9 dollars. Figures.
In my experience, settlers do interact with the firing range. But sadly, it resets them to their default clothing and weaponry. If you take out their defsult clothing, they'll be naked. And if you take out their default weapon, they spawn a pipe weapon. Its lame.
Other than one bug I had once in one save with one of my Captain Cosmos suits of power armor just....vanishing (maybe Rod Stoddard came back to "life" and is stomping around the Commonwealth being douchey with it), I have never had issue one with any of the creations I have purchased/downloaded. All of them I have enjoyed immensely, all of them are very high quality (specifically Elianora's Nuka Cola pack, Capt Cosmos, and the Charleston Condo), and all of them seem to not have many show-stopping bugs. It really, really disheartens me, therefore, to see something like the Settlement kit be rushed through the QC process (and you can't tell me it wasn't), be buggy as heck, have no quest or story with it at all, and have a huge price tag to effectively get reskins of a bunch of stuff and some new walls. If I'm remembering correctly, the price tag is the single highest item for a single creation ever put on CC, and it is NOT, in any way, up to the same quality or "fun level" of the ones I mentioned above. I give Bethesda a pretty fair pass a lot of the time, but this creation is not up to the level of anything I have seen them put out. One more week of QC and bug fixing would have solved the problem. Why rush things? Overall, it's very disappointing, and I think Bethesda should remove, fix, and relist it for about 300 credits less as a "sorry" and to normalize the price. Especially when put up against the 300 credit fantasy set! A joke/niche item for a third less that comes with lore, an involved quest, and some fairly neat looking, unique, stupidly OP Skyrim-themed items. Why is this better, cheaper, and less buggy than the settlement pack?! Sure, power creep's an issue...but $3! Versus $9! I don't get it. Maybe I'm not supposed to.
The other night I had a dream that I made a creation club that was a parody version of bethesda game studios in pre-war boston that contained a unique set of power armour based on the Dwarvern Centurion from Skyrim
Also, two of the walltoppers (the spike ones) can be placed on the ground, where they actually count as a impassable object (like chainlink fencing), so they can be used to funnel people without having to build tall walls everywhere. You can even snap the Y-framed barbed wire onto the spike ones to create an aesthetically pleasing barrier that enemies must find a way around. And if you get clever with the snapping of the wall pieces, you can have complex shapes. At first it seems like they won't do that since there is no inverse corner piece, but if you play with putting down pieces then removing some, you can create inverse corners and such.
@Winston I will wait until fallout 76 to see how much it does change. I had the expirience that good games fail if they go Multiplayer. But I do hope the best for 76 I would love to play with friends. ^-^
i just wish they would stop pushing updates for these mods that end up busting up all my other mods. I dont plan on buying anything there so why must i update
>How much time Bethesda put into this? None. It was a third party creation, all Bethesda did was take a commission fee for accepting and hosting it. Its ashame because it looks like a good mod that could use some more work, its just Bethesda digging for more cash at this rate with Fallout 4 sadly.
huh, was kinda hoping forceably triggering a settlement attack might stave off further attacks for longer. so I could land at a settlement, force an attack, fight off a few waves, and forget about needing to defend my settlements for an extra week.
This is what I waited for. I saw these and figured I’d wait for Oxhorn to do a video on it. A day later this video is posted and I saved my credits. So thank you Oxhorn
Thanks Ox. Saw all the other reviews on this, but waited for yours because of how thorough you are. Just saved myself some credits, will wait for bugs to get ironed out and a price drop
That is my problem with Creation Club. The pricing, just doesn’t seem right. When compared to previous DLC from Bethesda. Still don’t have a problem with the idea of Creation Club.
@@undeadsophie3421 gotten the Morgan Spacesuit, lotta paints for armor, weapons, pipboy, and the handmade shotgun free so far! I did shell out money for the backpack when it was on sale as it makes survival mode much easier!
I think one way to fix the monitors is to link them to a specific settlement that way you can view multiple cameras "quickly" that way each settlement gets it's own monitor
...Was there supposed to be a roulette wheel on-screen at the end of the vid, during the Oxhorn shop sales pitch? All I heard was the shuffling and the rattling and other assorted sound effects, but the images didn't appear -- I dunno if that's just me, though.
I get really frustrated when people say that dlc or mods or CC or what have you "should have been in the base game". I feel like people could say that about any new content released no matter how much it adds. At want point would people say "well gee, this is new and I understand why it's extra and wasn't in the base game." I mean, Bethesda could have still been adding features and content to this day with no end in sight and only some unspecified day in the future finally released Fallout 4.
@@Phobos_Anomaly I agree with you partly. Where I disagree is when they have DLCs planned before even releasing the game. To me, it is ridiculously scummy and greedy to take a chunk of your game out, charge full price for the chunk of game, then charge even more for the rest of it.
@@soiledflapjacks1938 Content that's already created and finished, but withheld from release for DLC later IS greedy and unacceptable. But that's not what I was talking about.
Many of the things in Creation Club were created before the game was released. The models for the handmade shotgun and Chinese assault rifle are actually included in the vanilla game files, but are unused.
The date being like the 63rd of September is actually a normal thing. I am not sure exactly when it happens, but if a certain amount of time passes it can cause the game to misread the date and make it September 63rd or a similar date.

I suspect they tried to prevent the passage of time when it fast-travels you to the settlement you're viewing, but transposed Multiplication and Division with the TimeScale.
So instead of preventing the passage of time during fast travel, it increases it.
Why the months stop changing, I don't know.
I like the guard post and the WORKING junk fences but.. not for 900 credits.

@@MrGrey-zc2cy That's a fix for people that want the content, but it isn't a fix for the mindset during this content's creation. To think people would spend 9 bucks on 2/3rds of a working mod is absolutely rediculious.

November 112th? I don't think Bethesda actually play the CC content when they do their QA!
Along with the watcher cameras... this really doesn't seem worth 900 credits!
The new junk walls were nice though.
In their defence, it is pretty easy to miss if you're not on survival and not everyone is as eagle eyed as Ox. Honestly I probably wouldnt have noticed until I died of thirst in my survival playthrough

There are several great mods for junk walls, some come with Covenant walls and turret shelves

Should've been free. Like all other mods
I would say it's worth 1 or 2 dollars.
Figures.
There's already a mod just like this for The Castle, it activates the trigger for the "Defend The Castle" quest.
Hey you should be chucking that money at EA they got loot boxes
In my experience, settlers do interact with the firing range. But sadly, it resets them to their default clothing and weaponry. If you take out their defsult clothing, they'll be naked. And if you take out their default weapon, they spawn a pipe weapon. Its lame.
For those wondering they've fixed the issue with time when you use the cameras.
2 years later but that's the answer I was searching comments for lol.. Thanks
The madman finally did it. He brought Skyrim into Fallout 4.
The other night I had a dream that I made a creation club that was a parody version of bethesda game studios in pre-war boston that contained a unique set of power armour based on the Dwarvern Centurion from Skyrim
A Very Good Man I like that. That's a pretty cool idea.
Nexus has a skyrim power armor it's not dwemer styled but the ideas out there.
Now that is a mod power armor i'd consider downloading and using.
nice dream! now dont let ur dream be a dream! JUST DO IT! XD
It was done. But it's just Skyrim based power armor in the runes of bethesda game studios
24:10 is the fantasy hero set

Speak for yourself. I don't want a Dovahkiin helmet in my Fallout game any more than I want a minigun in Skyrim.

None. It was a third party creation, all Bethesda did was take a commission fee for accepting and hosting it.
Its ashame because it looks like a good mod that could use some more work, its just Bethesda digging for more cash at this rate with Fallout 4 sadly.

Should be free or at least cheaper. A lot of this should have been in the game.

I agree with you partly.
I understand. I was mostly replying to your initial sentence, which didn't really imply that you were talking about post-release DLC.
Many of the things in Creation Club were created before the game was released. The models for the handmade shotgun and Chinese assault rifle are actually included in the vanilla game files, but are unused.
