The fact that they implemented skill checks for this quest just makes me really happy. Bethesda. PLEASE bring this back? It made every playthrough so unique.
What's crazier is, when you look at the "Astoundingly Awesome Tales" magazine used to advertise the quest in the Creation Club menu, the solution for the final puzzle is actually printed right on the cover, in the form of a fanned out Poker hand, with the Solar Cannon's card acting as the Joker.
I'm now just imagining Sarge making the 4 of them do push-ups for the rest of eternity in hell while grilling them over their lack of trust in him and each other, drill sergeant style.
"I WAS GETTING YOU PRESENTS YOU GODDAMN IDIOTS! I ALREADY OWED YOU A LOT FOR HELPIN' ME- WHY KILL ME OVER GIFT STASHES?!" Next thing you know all 4 begin pointing fingers at each other because they killed one another for the treasure.
That would be the worst kind of hell for me, because I know it would be far worse than what any of you guys think if you don’t have actual experience in the military.
My thoughts on Sarge's notes is I'm sure he's just a happy guy who likes writing to himself, I mean he bought gifts because ge loves all of his squad mates so much, I wouldn't put it passed him to write memos like a little story
Almost makes me feel bad for Sarge. Idk if or how many people he has killed but it feels like he was a good guy in the wrong faction. They were calling Sarge greedy for hoarding all that supplies so gunners being gunners wanted a piece of the pie but they were the greedy ones. Sarge was going above and beyond to get his best friends stuff and probably would have made a good leader for one of the other groups besides the gunners. However it does have a little plot hole because unless queeny just assassinated Sarge quickly he would have said something about how the supplies were not being kept out of greed away from them when they started getting hostile.
But not everyone has the time to really delve into the deep lore that is in this game. I'm a single parent and barely have anytime to game , as much as I would love to spend all the time I have in fallout chasing every detail but I just simply don't have the time. I'm sure that's a big problem for quite a few other people as well. The videos he does are fantastic for people who only have a little bit of time to game. They are jam packed of amazing details that I would never of been able to experience otherwise.
I think it’s possible that sarge would give his crew the clues, and have them solve the mysteries to get their gifts, which would explain how he wrote the note.
Man, that looks scary when the big energy ball flies to hit somebody in the chest. I am slightly disappointed though that it is not solar powered. Kill your enemies with the destructive power of the sun! (Warning, weapon may be unable to fire under cloudy weather conditions)
Fallout 2 had the solar scorcher which you could only reload during daylight and used no ammo. I kind of thought when I first saw this I figured it was like the solar gun from 2
That was what I was thinking too. Almost makes me feel bad for Sarge like he was possibly a good guy in the wrong faction, maybe he was brought in young or something.
Imagine if Deuce actually did open the chest and find the note. Would he be absolutely devastated when he realizes he killed his brother over his own gift?
Let me tell you this, I started watching your videos when I saw billy the kid in the fridge. That was 2 weeks ago and I've probably watched over 25 videos already. You are the main reason I will be getting fallout 4.
I know wasn’t really mentioned in this but wanted to say that with the rainbow power armour creation one could totally make their power armor look like the Megazord colour wise
Oxhorn listen remember mother ship zeta. I watched the video recently and one of the voice logs was one of the people that made valut "76". The vault in the new game that comes in November.
Thanks for this video, Ox! I was on the fence about the Solar Cannon in Creation Club but decided to get it after watching this. Now all I have to do is get down there and get it with a totally new character as I start my 4th (and possibly final) Survival Mode game. :D
Gaming Pikachu77 its most likely going to become some sort of cosmetic item store because it's been discussed that this will be the way that Bethesda keeps dlc free
Gaming Pikachu77, I'm assuming that it'll be the only way to "legally" have mods in 76. That way everyone has the exact same mods available and no one has an advantage. LubuTeLion absolutely. I love the mission and I REALLY do. But like with the backpack, scrap shotgun and a bunch more, I wait for them to be either dirt cheap or even free. I ain’t shelling out a whole lot personally
Dr. Muffin198 Looking through the posts on all of the nexus Strip expanding mods seems to make it clear that all of those mods can cause some sort of quest breaking at various stages of the game. That alone makes it not worth it to me.
TheSpectralForce The Strip open does not add anything new it just restores a tips promoter and fixed their dialogue and changes there behavior to be like it was supposed to be and removes the walls splitting the strip up.
Dr. Muffin198 i think he meant that some quests may interfere with it like when you're meant to be infront of the tops or 34 for instance even if i recall nothing like that happening though
The Solar cannon seems as though it is firing a ball of plasma. I would think that a Solar cannon would have small solar panels on the top and sides that recharge it. You would never need ammo, but it would take several seconds to recharge. Of course, if you fire before it has recharged, it would shoot a weaker shot. And the discharge would probably look like a white hot beam. Just keeping it real. :D PS. still waiting for the Pop rocks/ Nuka cola grenade. HEH HEH HEH.
Ideally, it would charge on its own during the day, and maybe do more damage at night? But yeah, I agree - a yellow or white-hot plasma beam would be better than purple.
The way Sarge wrote his notes is pretty self explanatory, given the outcome. He was going to give them gifts as part of their promotions so really, he was writing clues for a scavenger hunt so he could give gifts to his colleagues, nay, his FRIENDS!
Is it just me or were the ghosts of the gunners squad in the distance after Oxhorn stepped off the bus and looked right? If so, that's a really excellent touch!
I watched all the new Vegas dlcs and how you very cleverly told stories within stories. The whole build-up to the lonesome road and the recounting of info of the past dlcs while telling the stories of the two couriers, absolute perfection. You should do audio books for a company, your way of reading is very pleasant to the ears!
I gotta admit, I am very conflicted about these types of videos. On one hand, I enjoy Oxhorn showing off and reviewing the creation club mods, as it is always an enjoyable watch. On the other hand, I can't help but feel like it's supporting Bethesada's choice for creation club in the first place, with bothered alot of people to begin with. Maybe if we could earn credits by playing fallout, I wouldn't mind so much, but I see how many total credits Oxhorn has, and honestly it kind of worries me. I might just be just thinking things however. Like usual, thank you for the awesome content Oxhorn. Please keep doing what you do best
John Ryder He reviews the creation club content so the majority of people can decide whether it's worth buying or not. I'm pretty sure in a past video Ox said he doesn't necessarily support the CC anyways
I have never bought one thing from creation club and I got like 10 items for free just over time. It's mostly gun and armor skins but I did also get the black lab, golden retriever, and the arcade cabinets. Every time I update it it seems like I get at least one thing for free
I do agree that the CC early releases, not to mention it's other issues, did result in alienating a lot of potential from it. I'm glad for Oxhorn's reviews of them at least, for he gives them a fair look as a product and gives credit for the modders with an even hand, both willing to complain about the flaws and praise it when it does good. Thus far from the reviews I'm honestly debating picking up a few things if I ever give it a prod, mostly the Solar Cannon and AMR/Captain Cosmos things *shrugs*
I like the slow moving projectile cause for one reason, it’s an imperfect weapon system that was still in development before the war. It keeps with the theme of imperfect weapons that are available to the Fallout series.
FloppyBeagle 926 considering it's been 200 years since nuclear war, and the only real military is the Enclave, that honestly makes a lot of sense that these guys do jargon wrong lol
Is anyone not getting a triple barrel shotgun anymore or is it just my lack of luck. Real luck not game luck Edit: found them. They aren’t that common of drops it seems like before. Found one on a raider while in Monsignor Plaza
Waitwhat? Triple-barrel shotty?! I have a mod that can spawn EVERY item in the game and it's nowhere in there. Who has the highest drop-rates for it cuz I need to blast bigger holes in shit....nvm handmade shotty.
Yes you are right, I just rechecked it, doesn't work anymore. So this was either a bug or some mod that is now gone. But I am absolutly sure it once worked for me.
i love fallout quest's like this it's enthralling how dark and gritty it is and how the quest becomes more and more twisted the closer u get to the end i love the feel of quest's like this these types of quests are especially predominant in new vegas.
One thing I liked both with the size and weight of the Solar Cannon is it felt made to sit in a power armor's hands. And using the legendary mod you could change the legendary effect at a work station. Tossing radiation on there and it is pretty powerful.
I am pretty sure I was able to upgrade a handmade shotgun from 2 to 3 barrels.I am not sure about this but I think I saw legendary variants for sale in Far Habor and Arcadia.
The upgrades for 2-3 barrels could be mod related. I'd not be surprised if AWKCR or something allows players to see the Barrel Count upgrade, or whatever they called it in the code.
Hey Oxthorn i have a question for you, are you planning to do a short series showing the creation club content? It would be awesome. Good video as always :)
Fun side note. If you have lvl three weapon merchants at your settlements, you can also get rare shotguns. Love your vids ox! Keep up the amazing work!
Yo I love your videos. You were in my recommended one time and I’ve been watching you ever since. You’re the reason I got back into Fallout 4 and I forgot how much fun it was. Thank you and please keep making videos
He has done legion videos all the way up to the ending of the story but he still hasn't released his opinion piece about the Legion itself. I hope we get that one soon.
Theory on why Sarge wrote the clues the way he did: Maybe it was his plan to surprise his crew, by going off hiding near the bus while they followed his clues, assuming he betrayed them just so that he could jump out and yell "surprise!" As such, of course the notes would seem like they're written for someone else, because they would be. And, since the squad has proven that they ain't exactly all that bright (even Deuce, "the smart one" couldn't figure out the card clue), a list/half-sentence wouldn't have given them too much to work on. He also probably wanted them to work together to find the final safe, with the card clue most likely intended to be solved by Queen, since she was the one who realised they were 5 to a squad, just like there's five cards to a hand.
That doom slayer shotgun really just looks absolutely perfect in this universe. Would be kinda cool if all the Dunwich Horror references would tie in to earth being rebuilt in 400 years and UAC gets founded. All the lovecraftian mystery could just be demons lmao
Oh boy, another fetch quest. It's lame we have to go from one dead body to another with notes involved. Just another scavenger hunt with the gear at the end!
Kirumi Tojo Yeah I know. The quests could be a bit more creative though at the least. Why bother even taking the time to make a quest if you can buy the gun at a vendor? And if it's so rare, then how did the vendors have so many solar cannons? It doesn't make sense.
Tritium is used in the ACOG reflexive sight by Trijicon. It is a radioactive isotope to my understanding, but it allows the reticle to be illuminated without the need for batteries. It is a common attachment used for M4 carbines and other rifles. You aren't going to become irradiated or anything by using it.
I know this is a horse beaten to death by now, but every time I see Ox promote the CC and then watch my game get broken again and again, and my disk get bloated with useless content I didn't ask for, didn't authorize, and certainly don't want, I get slapped in the face again. Ox promotes the CC by: 1) Buying the CC content with real money. 2) Advertising it by making a positive video. 3) Being kind to sub standard crap, as is Ox's silver-lining nature. 4) Not mentioning that the CC has no mechanism to have a mod author fix their CC mod, so they don't fix them. 5) Not comparing it fairly to the higher level of quality and support offered for FREE by other modders. If you want to reward good mods, you can donate to the vast majority of the free modders in many convenient ways. Other modders won't take money, but a kind word is payment enough and they go a long way for them.
PappyMan can we push your comment to the top please? Sums up how I feel about these pretty well, though every time I see him promote CC "content" the more I don't like his channel. Kinda dumb, sure. But I hate people doing free advertising for paid mods.
Soooo, when modders / Steam / Bethesda wanted to outright "sell" mods, the community had a complete fit, but buying "credits" to "buy" mods is okey-dokey? Perfect sense; gads people are such sheep. I don't have an issue with buying mods, but honestly, I made mods to share, not to make money. Must we make money on EVERYTHING?
DK Dempcey Knight DK If you can make money on something, why do it for free? I get some people do it as a hobby, but me personally, if I spent hours/days/weeks making something big, I would personally like to get something in return. It's a mentality I guess. How much the person values the time spent.
This is the type of mini quest I'd like to see in Fallout 76, there's no need to talk to anyone and the items and works tell the story, the special checks reminded me of the USS Constitution quest which was one of the best quests in the game
Just wanted to say that the saw tooth decal was a dunkulasouras, a big, pre dinosaur fish, larger than a great white. It had teeth made of bone, and looked terrifying
Yeah almost makes me feel bad for Sarge. Not sure if or how many people he killed in the Commonwealth but he feels like a good guy in the wrong faction. 😢. It goes to show the core problems with the gunners and how their faction can never work.
With the safe code that involves the bowling ball, I guessed at it and got it at my fourth try. I figured out it was the bowling sign but I didn’t realize that it was everything on the bowling sign. That one stumped me for a good 5 minutes before I said screw it and hit it randomly. I knew one number so that limited the number of possibilities to a manageable state. Still didn’t figure it all out until I heard you read the note it self.
Oxhorn, you are the sole reason why I love fallout.Once I watched one of your videos, I had to get my hands on a copy.I just wanted to say thank you for showing me this amazing game.
I noticed the fusion cell is inserted the wrong way on the gun, the grey end of the fusion cell is supposed to be loaded head first. There's even 2 red arrows pointing which end is the top, which is the grey end. Just an oversight I'm sure.
Tritium is a commonly used isotope. The most dangerous use is in neutron bombs, to increase the ionising radiation. It has many much more innocuous uses, such as glowing night sights on guns and glowing watch faces and hands.
My friend and i made a mod that adjusts the damage, projectile speed, and wieght of this gun you may like. The mods name is prototype k-01 solar cannon. We made it with you in mind, hope you check it out and enjoy. Also, you absolutely rock!
The reason it fits in the fallout universe is because it was already in it. Fallout 2 had the solar cannon, it was apart of a random encounter where you enter vault 13 (I think) and break the water chip which is how fallout 1 starts.
One of the more touching stories. Despite not liking the gunners due to my kill or be killed relationship with them, I still feel bad for Sarge... he was one of the good ones
The fact that they implemented skill checks for this quest just makes me really happy. Bethesda. PLEASE bring this back? It made every playthrough so unique.
Two years after this comment was made, but your wish came true
The skills are ingame but the checks aren't
If I remember correctly, there's one in the USS Constitution with which you can basically all the mission

I completely agree. This quest really feels like a Fallout story. The bitter ending is just like what we find in the base game.

John O ́neil that would be a waste of creation clun points then

Some of us like quirks, but perhaps a more palatable method would be to make the solar cannon a recharger, or only require ammo at night.

Thus far from the reviews I'm honestly debating picking up a few things if I ever give it a prod, mostly the Solar Cannon and AMR/Captain Cosmos things *shrugs*
It kind of sucks for PS4 players because we don't have external ports. So CC is the best we got for new weapons or armor.
I like the slow moving projectile cause for one reason, it’s an imperfect weapon system that was still in development before the war. It keeps with the theme of imperfect weapons that are available to the Fallout series.
12:42 damn Preston is badass!
I will admit creation club is getting better, never thought I'd see the day.
As a Marine vet i found the "jargon" in the gunner's notes pretty irritating. Seemed like a B rated military movie script.
FloppyBeagle 926 thank you for your service
FloppyBeagle 926 considering it's been 200 years since nuclear war, and the only real military is the Enclave, that honestly makes a lot of sense that these guys do jargon wrong lol
to be honest the gunners always reminded me of cheap cosplayers.
This is also the same universe where people think baseball was a sport where they beat each other to death. Nobody is perfect.
KempuraChicken it wasnt a real criticism. Just cringy to guys like me is all.
Damn, that ending twist is like New Vegas-level writing.
Is anyone not getting a triple barrel shotgun anymore or is it just my lack of luck. Real luck not game luck
Edit: found them. They aren’t that common of drops it seems like before. Found one on a raider while in Monsignor Plaza
I wish I could get one that does more fire damage so I can make better use of my triple barrel shotgun for a little more damage.
Why would you use it over the combat shotgun?
Waitwhat? Triple-barrel shotty?! I have a mod that can spawn EVERY item in the game and it's nowhere in there. Who has the highest drop-rates for it cuz I need to blast bigger holes in shit....nvm handmade shotty.
Sunset Rider ragdoll
Sunset Rider because combat doesn’t have 3 barrels
Seriously though I love the scrappy look to it
Suppose on the bright side, this quest feels more like a Fallout encounter than the AMR's. Gotta say, for CC content this is pretty good!
I am pretty sure I was able to upgrade a handmade shotgun from 2 to 3 barrels.
Sternencolonel No, you can't, you have to buy a 3 barrel one from a vendor.
Yes you are right, I just rechecked it, doesn't work anymore. So this was either a bug or some mod that is now gone. But I am absolutly sure it once worked for me.
Sternencolonel i was able to craft it too
I am able to upgrade a two barrel to a three barrel at weapons workbench 100% sure just logged on to double check
UnDeadBobus thats clever!
i love fallout quest's like this it's enthralling how dark and gritty it is and how the quest becomes more and more twisted the closer u get to the end i love the feel of quest's like this these types of quests are especially predominant in new vegas.
They should add safes with combinations
30:31 wasn't it rad-gull
I'd say my favorite thing about this creation is the projectiles purple plasma trail. It's actually ionizing the air around it as it travels.
Hey Oxthorn i have a question for you, are you planning to do a short series showing the creation club content?
It would be awesome.
Good video as always :)
Capitan Qwark the one and only He's created other videos showcasing the other creation club features, such as Captain Cosmo.
Zach LeFevre okay thanks for the info :).
User:”Hot shot”
Enemy:”What did you say?”
User: “I said hot shot”
Nice judge dredd reference
I feel I've seen this weapon somewhere before...
POW Gaming metal gear solid 4?
Metal gear sold maybe
Deja vu i have been to this Place befor
Fun side note. If you have lvl three weapon merchants at your settlements, you can also get rare shotguns. Love your vids ox! Keep up the amazing work!
Love you oxhorn!
Vault Boy hey vault boy, why the fuck is vault tec so evil?
Yo I love your videos. You were in my recommended one time and I’ve been watching you ever since. You’re the reason I got back into Fallout 4 and I forgot how much fun it was. Thank you and please keep making videos
When is the last legion Vid coming?
TrueToCaesar he's already done it just do a quick search for it
He has done legion videos all the way up to the ending of the story but he still hasn't released his opinion piece about the Legion itself.
He also probably wanted them to work together to find the final safe, with the card clue most likely intended to be solved by Queen, since she was the one who realised they were 5 to a squad, just like there's five cards to a hand.
nice vid
That doom slayer shotgun really just looks absolutely perfect in this universe. Would be kinda cool if all the Dunwich Horror references would tie in to earth being rebuilt in 400 years and UAC gets founded. All the lovecraftian mystery could just be demons lmao
Oh boy, another fetch quest. It's lame we have to go from one dead body to another with notes involved. Just another scavenger hunt with the gear at the end!
Snazzy Feathers you do know you're able to buy creation club weapons from vendors?
Kirumi Tojo Yeah I know. The quests could be a bit more creative though at the least. Why bother even taking the time to make a quest if you can buy the gun at a vendor? And if it's so rare, then how did the vendors have so many solar cannons? It doesn't make sense.
Feel free to apply to Bethesda w/your resume bro.
F B who you replying to?
Kirumi Tojo You. You obviously know how to code, design, storyboard, write, etc. right? So I can't wait to see what you'll eventually publish. /s
He also advertises unpaid mods. What difference does it make
This is a surprisingly cool little quest. And it even has skill challenges! I didn't find enough of those in the base game.
The thing about splitting the loot reminds me of The Dark Night were Joker kills every hired goon after their task is done
Sorry but in my opinion this " creation " really sucks.
Yeah and most of them are worthless because there are modders who make free and better mods with more customization options
I got the Gauss rifle first then this... imagine how unimpressive it made this turd lol.
I like the creativity of this creation club quest
yeet
This is the type of mini quest I'd like to see in Fallout 76, there's no need to talk to anyone and the items and works tell the story, the special checks reminded me of the USS Constitution quest which was one of the best quests in the game
Just wanted to say that the saw tooth decal was a dunkulasouras, a big, pre dinosaur fish, larger than a great white. It had teeth made of bone, and looked terrifying
You are the only person who show us how to get it instead of them who just show off it thank you
Oh wow there was one good gunner in the commonwealth... RIP Sarge 😭😭
Yeah almost makes me feel bad for Sarge. Not sure if or how many people he killed in the Commonwealth but he feels like a good guy in the wrong faction. 😢. It goes to show the core problems with the gunners and how their faction can never work.
I love that its a magnifying glass for burning bugs.
Glad to see that they actually put a story into this creation club mod. Good job oxhorn, and good luck!
I noticed the fusion cell is inserted the wrong way on the gun, the grey end of the fusion cell is supposed to be loaded head first. There's even 2 red arrows pointing which end is the top, which is the grey end.
Just an oversight I'm sure.
I had been stuck looking that red house for *3 AND A HALF HOURS* until I saw this video. Thank you oxhorn!
A well made cc quest? I didn't believe that was even possible.
The reason it fits in the fallout universe is because it was already in it. Fallout 2 had the solar cannon, it was apart of a random encounter where you enter vault 13 (I think) and break the water chip which is how fallout 1 starts.
Oxhorn: I mean, do you sit down and write flowery prose to yourself?
Me, who gets bored reading plain and simple text and enjoys flowery text: yes
Ah, the seagull test. Who could live without it.
I will use it on my Rifleman build,I really like the sound
One of the more touching stories. Despite not liking the gunners due to my kill or be killed relationship with them, I still feel bad for Sarge... he was one of the good ones
