The “scavengers” are just raiders with extra steps. Meanwhile Captain Ironsides has you repair the ship so it can begin is voyage again and even gives you a sweet hat for helping him, also caps. So yes Captain Ironsides forever.
The difference between scavenger and raider is what they are willing to do Scavenger’s don’t like dirty moral work. And raiders would kill and cook you if needed

If we're being technical, the USS Constitution is a commissioned ship in the Navy, meaning Ironsides is the captain of a ship in the US Navy, technically speaking Ironsides is all that's left of the US Navy and may technically be the commander of all "US forces"
I sided with the robots because A. Yeah, Ironsides kills, but only because he is fired upon first, and even then he says to use lethal force when strictly necessary B. Because a bunch of robots pretending to be 17th century naval captains in a rocket boat is freaking cool.

Wow, Cait just isn't happy with anything. You stick up for Ironsides, she makes a snide remark and dislikes it. You help the Scavengers, she agrees with it, and dislikes it.
Cait doesn't like much honestly. Still I did like this quest. It also left a burning question. How did the robots gain access to DMV and Armed Service records? Is there some EMP hardened mainframe out there with a transceiver of the same?
EMP only temporarily knocks out devices, and depending on location, type of device, and a number of other factors, they may still function without repairs after the EMP has passed. I assume in a civilization that has such a preoccupation with nuclear power and weapons that many systems would be hardened against EMP. But that's merely a guess, even if it's backed up by the number of still-operating computers in the Fallout world.
Most government networks don't necessarily cross paths, but there is still the matter of if any mainframes survived the EMP from the nukes in the first place. Robots only have a finite memory capacity. We know The Institute likely had surviving hardware given the presence of it in older sections of the complex, but I know of no college or university networks that connect to state run mainframes directly. It's all a puzzle really. Speaking of EMP from nukes, wouldn't the destruction of The Institute create a strong EMP wave in the local area around it? Many a computer would likely be out of commission without safety measures.
I had many reasons. 1 - the scavengers told me to gtfo their lawn just as I passed by, while the robots welcomed me; 2 - the scavengers attacked me while I was onboard; 3 - my son is a robot, my bff is a robot, my butler is a robot and I work freeing robots, so I'm a big fat robot lover alright.

While Cait may have interesting dialogue about this, I found Preston to be more fun. He was for the whole "congressional army" thing. I personally agree with those who wanted a Minutemen ending on this quest. Preston could've called the Minutemen from the Castle, fighting through the scavengers, then guarding the ship. Eventually guiding it correctly to the Atlantic.
technically speaking, all they would need to do is give the Constitution a new Surgeon and maybe a box of robot parts. The Surgeon could fix the Bosun, who would then fix the ship and they would probably be able to continue face-tanking skyscrapers all the way to the Atlantic.
Cait’s dialogue is nonsense. She doesn’t like it when you help almost anyone in the game, even the sick boy in Vault 81, so why the hell would she favor helping the scavengers? (Then again, according to the affinity, she doesn’t like you helping either the scavengers or robots)
Thats troublesome because Ironsides may represent what the good the old Commonwealth once was but its not genuine. It was the past and expecting the scavengers to understand is wrong... the scavengers are what they are: people just trying to get by in this day and age. Ironsides has a right to defend... however, do think what would have happened if Ironsides makes it to the sea? Eventually (assuming they can make it) someday they will come across another broken part of the world and hold his old ideals on these people and its your responsibility for wasting time and resources to take away from the people's potential.

*not saying the Brotherhood would let the scavengers take the ship. Would depend how you're role playing. If you're a dedicated BOS soldier, you may see these robots as a potential danger to humanity. They're gaining independent thought and could eventually rise beyond all their programming, viewing the Wastelanders as their true enemy. Ironsides already reprograms robots to serve his purposes so amassing an army of loyal robots isn't improbable. Very least, no true BOS soldier would choose robots over humanity.

I've thought since I first found him a bit after the game came out that Captain Ironside should have been a companion. Also, I can never side against him.
I wish the Constitution could be a settlemet or you could send it to a settlement of your choice, that way you could hang out with Ironsides even though he's not a companion.

0:09 often is an understatement. Decon felt the need to tell me about it every second or so for the entire hour I did this quest. "Oh that? That's the USS Constitution. I hear it's parked up there for ...(Pause for comic timing)... tax purposes."
Nick Valentine was having quite the dilemma too , kept asking himself "I don't know what I find more disturbing - the fact that there's a ship lodged in that building or that there's still a ship lodged in that building."
There should’ve been an ending where you as the Minutemen used the constitution and fought the prydwen with the cannons... would’ve been such a cool air battle, broadsiding the prydwen and firing cannons
i see no dilemma. do you side with the nice robots with their humble, positive and amusing attitude? or do you side with the people that almost killed you and are practically betraying diamond city and in the end even you? These robots don't have a heart but still share more love than these people. Aye, robots it is!
Synths are indistinguishable from humans save for the one chip inside them. Them being able to be turned off can just be put down to hypnosis. It's a real thing. You can "program" a human into responding to certain stimulus. People with PTSD who have panic attacks from a sound or smell are effectively hypnotized to react that way.

Fun fact about "Old Ironsides" her exceptionally thick hull as you describe it wasn't the only reason that cannons had trouble piercing the hull of the Constitution. The Constitution's hull was made by layering hard and soft woods, which created an effect like some modern day body armors. I'm not sure if the constitution was the first to use this construction method but it wasn't common at the time.
Justin David I watched a documentary way back when that said that the more were these old school Chinese sailing ships that had fortified front ends to ram the other ship. If I recall they fortified it in a similar way. Wood layering with a metal plate on the front. And this was like way way way back when they were still one of the only countries with gun powder.
Now doing my homework. The reason she got the nickname "Old Ironsides". Is her encounter and victory against the HMS Guerriere. During the battle. The Constitution fired and struck the Guerriere's mizzenmast and reduced maneuverability of the British Warship because of it dragging in the water. The Guerriere unable to maneuver ends up crashing right into the side of the Constitution. Rigging of both ships become tangled and Guerriere's bow gun in effective range. Fires. Though only destroying the Captain's Quarters. Both ships' Captains did an order for boarding but do to the heavy seas. Neither could board the other effectively. Through the course of the battle. Both ships start to twist and were now broad side one another. The Constitution fires a few more broadsides into the British ship causing more heavy damage. The waves and weather finally ripped both ships apart. Causing the masts of the Guerriere to collapse. Basically making the Guerriere a floating hulk of a mess. So in turn suffering a third of her crew loses to death and wounding. The British surrender. The Captain of the Constitution did surprise the British with the Constitution's strong broadside and sailing ability. That the British guns could not punch through the hull of the American Warship. It was stated that an American sailor cried out, "Huzzah! Her sides are made of Iron!" That is where the old girl got her nickname "Old Ironsides". As for the HMS Guerriere after this fight. Well, the ship was so badly beaten that she was impossible to tow back to port. So the American Captain ordered the British crew to be taken on board and the ship burned. On making it back to homeport. The crew of the USS Constitution found out word spread rather fast of their battle and were hailed as heroes.
/White Oak/Live Oak/White Oak/ These materials in this construction for the hull of the Constitution as well as her unique and robust framing made her one tough ship and could've easily outclassed frigates of her class.
*Cough* You're welcome - www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11278 It also allows Codsworth's bowler hat alongside automatron improvements and Takahashi's chef hat.
Same! For something that old and strong, with such an amazing historical background to have survived as long as it has, the very idea of turning it to scrap or burning it makes me feel sick.
I was thinking the same thing only more in the context of my playthrough being a railroad agent, and applying the values of my role-play would make the decision clear. If I were doing a BoS playthrough it might be a different story.
Well it's a question of what defines a man? The conflict with the Institute vs the Railroad really is one where the Institute says: "We built them, they are machines meant to service us". While the Railroad says: "They're sapient beings with their own thoughts and desires, and that's enough to warrant personhood and freedom". The interesting question for me is the Robots. We see time and time again in the Fallout Universe robots that have achieved Sapience. Have in fact transcended into True AI really. From ED-E in the Mojave, to Codsworth and CVRIE in Fallout 4. And Ironsides would be one of them as well. He CHOSE to overcome his own initial programming, chose to adopt a lifestyle he believed in, and chose his own goals and purpose, ideals and culture. The problem for me is Bethesda really swerves that question outside of Gen 3 Synths because of CVRIE. Even though as a robot she definitely showing such sapience and desires like Ironsides does. Choosing her own fate, to bypass or negate her programming, even her own desires to leave her post and explore the world... the game's script after Memory Interrupted, when you put her in a Gen 3 Synth Body tries to act like the robot CVRIE didn't have those things. That it was only after being turned into a Synth that she had any glimmer of emotion, desires, goals, independence, etc. It's a really odd thing. I'm not sure if it was just a left hand not telling the right what it was doing storyline and thematically, or if it was a case of just some blindness to the questions they were bringing up and why it wouldn't apply to Robots with similar traits.
@@hitomisalazar4073 in my personal opinion and observations it seems like robots get more personality and stuff as they get older. People should side with Ironsides for the simple fact that he represents the good that America once was. He has honor, integrity, and a strong sense of ethics just like any good military commander would have so helping him preserves good qualities of the Fallout version of America.

Newer Broom Heh. While it could be argued that the average raider won’t know who you are or have heard of your exploits, it does amaze me how willing they are to take on someone who so obviously outguns them!
JosieJOK yeah, although sometimes, I wish that Bethesda made it so the raiders and gunners "evolved" with the player and got tougher as you leveled up. Getting more advanced armor and weapons, and eventually they get actual power armor. Would make the game much more fun.
Newer Broom - you basically just described what they tried to do with Oblivion, and it was pretty awful. Although that may have been more to do with how you could actually gimp yourself by leveling up too frequently because of how the game handled player stat increases.
On the subject of morality, I believe the robots are in the right. They just want to be left alone, they have not attacked, only defended themselves. When considering Codsworth, Curie, KL-E-O, P.A.M., or the robots of Grey Garden: I believe many robots left active for 200 years have become self aware. Maybe not truly people like Gen 3 Synths, but AI none the less. And to have a group of raiders who sell to towns, scavengers, attack 17 times is just over agressive jerks who might wipe out my lovely Grey Garden next. Scavengers bad, Ironsides good.
*What I think is the most beneficial option:* 1. Get the parts needed for the ship 2. Go to the scavengers, ask Mandy for the 500 caps, then change your mind, causing them to open fire on you. 3. Launch the ship as normal. Scavengers dealt with, mission success, your pockets are full with caps, and everyone's happy... or well... dead.
I like to think given the option, the Ironsides would ally with the Minutemen, in fact, the U.S.S Consitution could operate as the Minutemen's own Predwyn!
Many missed opportunity's are present within this game. Reprogramming Liberty Prime for the Minutemen and attacking the Brotherhood, making more 'Director' choices with the institute, destroying the main factions with the Nuka-World raiders, challenging Elder Maxon to the title of Elder... *Sigh* The list goes on. ;(
JakeSpacePirate E here's the thing. There is cut content where you could have challenged elder Maxon together with Danse for leadership of the Brotherhood. Huge missed opportunity.
Lol it sails trough the air only to land on another even higher builing. I laughed when i saw it crashland on the other building. A succesfull launch ironsides called it.
I always kinda figured the scavengers would double-cross you, and I like robots, especially ones who fight only for self-defense. That automatically makes them better than at least half of the humans you meet in Fallout 4 since a big chunk are raiders, gunners, or some other unscrupulous people and they usually try to kill you. Hence, I always side with the robots. Plus they were there first, also I'd rather not let a bunch of scavvers tear apart a historical treasure for salvage. It's safer on top of that skyscraper.
i mean the gunners are mercenaries and when you run into them it is mostly at their outposts or fortifications so they technically are defending themselves.
Storm Trooper #286931 Tell that to the gunners who invaded Quincy. Gunners open fire even when you meet them out away from their outposts and fortifications. They're basically militarized raiders.
I don't have a problem with killing off these scavengers. In the end the give you no choice of handing them the ship and it's scrap without it resulting in your death. This makes them no better than raiders
The USS Constitution is not a museum ship, it is still to this day a commissioned vessel in the United States Navy. Admittedly it is for historic reasons, however, the status of the ship is "Active"
It is kind of a floating museum in the sense it's maintained for the sake of historical preservation, not for modern military missions,. But you're are correct in that it's still considered an actively commissioned vessel in the U.S. Navy, making it the oldest ship still designated as such.
Which is why I disagree with the scavengers' claim to the ship. Its not derelict, its still being maintained by the designated crew, albeit robotic. As a member of the Minutemen (Basically the National Guard) it would behoove the player to render any assistance needed to the US Navy warship and pushing for payment and bounties may have been a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
James Williams I was thinking the same. since the captain is a military robot, wouldn't that mean (since he is the captain) that he is technically an active duty naval officer? If so then that means that the scavengers are attacking an active military ship with active military crew. Not only have they attacked the vessel, but they've killed members of said crew and stolen from the ship. Wouldn't that make the scavengers enemies of the state?
The captain certainly acts like a naval officer. Except that he drafts you because he can and expects you to immediately snap to it when he says to do things. The real world USS Constitution's "active" status is maintained by the fact that they periodically take her to sea. So she's a functional, if antiquated vessel. Oh and the UCMJ also requires the military to pay you. :p Granted the pay structure is different, but unless Captain Ironsides is going to give me a salary, then he's gonna have to settle for what he gets.
The last flight of the U.S.S Constitution, a story of bravery, undying hope, and chasing your dreams, even when they seem out of reach. Never stop believing you'll one day take off the ground too.
On my first playthrough, I thought these were enemies so I attacked him. Bad news is I did not beat Ironsides, so I ran away. Later in the game, I went with the BoS route. I was going to the Prydwen on a Vertibird when I saw the USS Constitution and Ironsides tried to attack me, but failed. After beating the game, I decided to research the USS Constitution. That's when I found this video. I was an idiot.
I first was hesitant when approaching them as I was only about level 12 and I went into VATS to scout it out and saw Ironsides with a Skull next to his health bar and sprinted the other way 🤣
Thanks for showing what the scavengers do if you side with them; I would never have learned that on my own. Ironsides shows greater humanity than any of those trash.
Can't see how anyone could seriously argue which side of this is the morally good choice. The scavengers are out for themselves, and their argument that they're not attacking people is irrelevant, because they're not holding back from harming humans for any reason beyond the simple circumstances that there aren't humans on board. As soon as a human gets in their way--as soon as a human does so much as dip a little into their profit margin--the majority of them have *no qualms* about killing that human, and even those that do, like Mandy, will still support that majority enough to be there to take part in it. It's situational circumstances, not moral convictions or personal beliefs, that separate this group of scavengers from groups like the Gunners. The real irony here is that many of the most valuable salvageable items to be found on the ship are those taken from elsewhere in the Commonwealth. Instead of teaming up to take a single ship of robots, these scavengers could have worked together in a group like this to take a location like the Corvega plant, somewhere with a ton more salvage (some of it apparently similar to what's on the ship to begin with) and considerably lesser defenses (even a well-fortified raider gang is child's play compared to a ship of combat robots with height advantage and canons). These fools could have been getting more with fewer casualties and doing the Commonwealth some good, if they weren't so short-sighted and stubborn.
My problem with Ironsides is his objective. You say that Ironsides values human life, but he only values American life. One of the first things he says is that he’s gonna go continue the war with China. Whether he’d attack Chinese citizens or ghouls, now just trying to live their life after also likely being nuked, who knows, but I’m not going to take the chance
As an honorably discharged US Navy veteran the scavengers did not take one more breath than it took for them to say they were basically going to destroy the oldest commission warship in the US Navy.
I live in Boston and I absolutely love the lore of this game I live right next to the shipyard that this ship is docked in. It sails once and a while and it's beautiful

I don’t want to join The Brotherhood of Steel, or The Railroad, or the Institute, or the Minutemen. I only want to join Captain Ironsides and his crew, and cruise around helping the Commonwealth on their ship. Garvey will come aboard, install the coordinates a settlement that needs help into our guidance chip. And then we can go and crash our ship into the settlement. The settlement won’t/can’t need help, if there is no settlement. Comedy aside; What I did was side with Ironsides. What I did differently to some maybe most, was I killed Mandy and her crew of Davis and a couple of mercenaries in our first encounter. I know this sounds evil, but hear me out. Their group tried to kill the player (yes she says she wasn’t in on the attack, but then she also lied about helping orphans, and lied about splitting the reward with the player, then tried to kill the player again), then they tried to buy the player’s loyalty. Clearly they are terrible people only in it for themselves which makes them a threat to not only the player and the robots, but also any other survivors in the Commonwealth who has something that Mandy and her gang want. Therefore I made the decision to remove that threat, before anyone else was hurt. In these decisions every variable needs to be considered, both whatever is occurring in the now, and any future consequences to your actions. Back on how Mandy and crew decide to kill the player despite their help, who knows how many other people they’ve already done this to. I believe that siding with Captain Ironsides and his crew is the most ethical choice as they value life, are far more humane, and have deeper personality then the scavengers/raiders attacking them. Based off how the robots have developed their own personalities I’d go as far to say if it’s unethical to kill synths, then it is unethical to kill Captain Ironsides and his crew. I could go deeper into the comparison with synths, but I don’t want to make this comment a full on essay😂. Another thing that makes killing the robots unethical is the betrayal required. If they were evil then it’s fine. If your fighting for a side that you find out is evil, obviously it would be wrong to continue helping them. But the robots aren’t evil. Evidence of this is when the scavengers/raiders were trying to kill them, and Ironsides still told his crew to spare them if possible. They are not evil. They are honest, companionate, loyal and devoted to their mission. Also, unlike Mandy and her group, they’ll actually pay you for your efforts. They value hard work. But at the end of the day ethics and being morally good are merely concepts of our personal realities. As an example Thanos believed wiping out half the universe was ethical, however I’m pretty sure most of us would disagree. I know that’s from a movie, but I’m afraid that many people have grown soft, and may get offended if I apply a real world example that associates with them. So to spare myself the trouble of needless arguments we’ll just use Thanos.
@benjamin ramsey You must have missed the part about Thanos where I said; “I’m pretty sure most of us would disagree.” The keyword in that sentence being ‘us’. As for our other disagreement, I would argue that if you look at politics, and the left and right wing, you would see that both wings see themselves as good, and the other side as evil. Which is a real world example of good being a personal concept. Also just quickly, I’m more then happy to listen to and consider your points and ideas, so long as we can keep it civilised.
I think siding with Ironsides is more benevolent. He might be a robot but he is sentient, much like Codsworth, Ada, and Nick, all of whom are also trustworthy and good. Plus Ironsides likely really does want to defend the Eastern coast while the scavengers will only care about themselves and are not going to spare you even if you side with them while Ironsides only attacks if you betray them
This is genuinely one of- if not the best quest I've played in a game. Ever. Captain Ironsides is so funny and amazing, he's unique and especially as a sentry bot the fact you get to talk to him and play pirates and sailors with him is wonderful. I think even the baby of Stalin and Hitler would say you're a heartless bastard for turning on the crew. While the scavengers could use the caps the scrap brings it doesn't make it any less bad. These bots welcomed you onto their ship and even hundreds of years after Nuclear anhilation and thousands if not tens of thousands of caps worth of scrap and weapons on them they've persisted and toughed it through, still wanting to fight and die for us, even if it was programmed, just because helping poor scavengers is good doesn't make killing the bots not bad. It's less morally gray and more like a flaming battle of white vs. black depending on your personal stance, either way you gotta be pure evil to not atleast hesitate a little about killing them with all their funny, awesome quirks and incredible resiliance. For them to survive longer then 8 entire generations of people and for you to be the one that snuffs out that flame of resiliance that could go on to be helpful and useful for centuries to come is just h*cked up my dood.
It's great but definitely not the best. You need to play the Witcher 3 if you want to see the best quests in gaming. Do the bloody baron questline, holy shit.
I gotta say, I do not agreed with the whole "I'm a scavenger too" thing and I don't think is immoral to kill them and this is why: first of all, we do not board the ship to scavenge it, we do because we are "invited" by Ironsides crew; second, as you show in this brilliant video, no mater what you do to help the scavengers, in the end they still want to kill you. I know, at the time you don't know that and It's is a choice of robot over human but at the end, it was the robots the most human ones in this quest. I love this quest, the characters are spot on and all that work just to end in the top of another building? Classic. Sorry for the bad grammar (English is not my native language and didn't had the opportunity to write in a while). Keep up the good work and please continue to "peel" the wonderful world of Fallout!
With regards to Ironsides' belief that the war with China is ongoing, I'd like to say that his thought process most likely goes something like: "The last data I received said that a state of war existed between the US and China. Until and unless I hear otherwise, I must assume that this state of war still exists." Foolish perhaps, but it does have a certain logic to it.
I chose Ironside because my historic side wants the constitution to continue it's fight, they may be robots but they're living beings as well, the scavengers are trying to make a living but they don't care about the well being for others only themselves, this may be the apocalypse but civilization is rebuilding and there are rules again but people like raiders, a few scavengers, and etc. are breaking them just for themselves. That's all I have to say
Man the way you narrate these quests is fantastic, all I wanna do is play games but I have a full time job. The way you script these videos make it perfect to listen to while I work.
That's not true. The United States military's, and all it's robots, goal is to defend the document. List of Importance: -The Document (As in it's ideology) -The Government -The People -The Nation (As in land)
I went into this with the assumption that I was invited onto the ship by SOMEONE. Invited into someone's home. My experiences with Codsworth, Whitechapel Charlie, Ada, and Kleo made me respect some robots as people because their programming has expanded (perhaps due to error over hundreds of years to some semblance of sapience). Your average protection or sentrybot is just a mindless machine carrying out a task, but Ironsides is immediately noticeable as different. He was probably originally just intended to be a tour guide of the boat, but the realities of the war made him expand his own role on his own. He reprogrammed the others to have more personality, but I'm not sure what they did before the war. Maintenance of the boat? Security when a tour was closed? Who knows? First Mate is clearly a repurposed police robot. Anyway, he's not Button Gwinnett from Fallout 3 where he literally believes he's some real life historical figure. He acknowledges that the bombs fell and that the accent and mannerisms he's using are anachronistic but he does it to play a role and I guess to have a little fun because its his life and why not? Since he was a military robot and the war leaves the US military in shambles, he reckons that makes him the highest ranked US military officer in existence, so its his duty to fight the Chinese. He doesn't have any data on China, so he's either confused, operating from ignorance, or figured that this purpose was as good as any as far as military actions are concerned. The biggest and most glaring part of his confusion which you don't mention in the video is that even if the Constitution landed in the ocean, it would immediately begin to sink because of the big damn hole in the bottom. Regardless, when the scavengers said that they were just trying to kill the robots, I immediately hated them and saw then as pirates. To me attacking Ironsides because he's a little confused is like robbing an old man of all his gardening tools because he keeps planting marbles because of his poor eyesight. Ironsides was a robot made for a purpose. Unlike most robots who mindlessly continue that singular purpose for centuries until they are deactivated, reprogrammed, or destroyed, he GAVE HIMSELF a new purpose when the old one was obsolete, just like a person would. An average sentrybot would continue to patrol around its assigned military outpost forever until it was stopped, even though there's no need to do so. If Ironsides had been assigned to some military museum made out of an old base, perhaps Fort Independance, he would have instead recruited robots to make the base a functional one and used an army command structure, with himself as Colonel or something. Sarge didn't do that, but Ironsides would. Ironsides didn't stay on the Constitution, just telling everyone its history forever like he was programmed to do. Ironsides is special. Ironsides is a person.
In my first encounter with this quest in full, I sided with the Scavengers on account of they are human and the robot are not, and theres good loot on that boat. I gotta tell you Ive never been more angry at an NPC in my life than when Mandy backstabbed me.
I'm really glad that I helped the robots the very first time I played through this quest, especially after I've seen the other ending now! I still think that seeing it launch and hit the other building was by far the best quest end in the whole game. It certainly made laugh anyway!
The thickness of Constitutions hull wasn't the only thing that made it so strong, the old growth lumber of America used to make it was harder than the wood used to make European ships

Cait doesn't like much honestly.
Still I did like this quest. It also left a burning question. How did the robots gain access to DMV and Armed Service records? Is there some EMP hardened mainframe out there with a transceiver of the same?
sunac I got max affinity but taking a shit ton of drugs
Perhaps it was accessed through the National Park Services network?
My reason to side with the robots was as easy as:

It was the past and expecting the scavengers to understand is wrong... the scavengers are what they are: people just trying to get by in this day and age. Ironsides has a right to defend... however, do think what would have happened if Ironsides makes it to the sea? Would depend how you're role playing. If you're a dedicated BOS soldier, you may see these robots as a potential danger to humanity.
That's pretty fascinating. I wonder if they did any ballistics tests for the materials back then.
/White Oak/Live Oak/White Oak/
These materials in this construction for the hull of the Constitution as well as her unique and robust framing made her one tough ship and could've easily outclassed frigates of her class.
Imagine if they made it out of Australian Buloke or Brazilian Ipe.

If synths can be people, then robots can be as well. I can't kill ironsides and never have.
Like there are some robots out there who are completely self reliant and know exactly what's happening... Like that assultron in Goodneighbor. Another example is Curie like you mentioned. Or even the bartender in the third rail. I highly doubt someone programed him to be a sketchy mob guy. Just seems alot of robots developed their own ideas and changed from their former programing... Or at least added on to it. Just my thoughts

I was so upset that threats or intimidation did not become available as options in that exchange.
Should be a perk that makes low level raiders run away if you're in full power armor
Out of all the times I’ve played this quest and heard other people talk about it, I somehow had no clue until now that you could visit Ironsides and his crew after they crash into the skyscraper
People should side with Ironsides for the simple fact that he represents the good that America once was. He has honor, integrity, and a strong sense of ethics just like any good military commander would have so helping him preserves good qualities of the Fallout version of America.

Let's try and kill them! I'm sure this will go well!"
They're not very smart.
MGlBlaze here's some more fallout logic
"Hey, isn't that the guy/girl that escaped a vault with nothing, killed Kellog and a bunch of synth single handedly, and destroyed the institute? And he/she also said in that paper they like blowing things up. And they are in X-01 power armor with a fat man and have a super mutant buddy who ALSO has a fatman? Yeah, I'm gonna mug them with my trusty pipe pistol! I'm sure that nothing bad will happen! If they attack, I can just shoot them!"
-Every fallout raider ever
Newer Broom Heh. While it could be argued that the average raider won’t know who you are or have heard of your exploits, it does amaze me how willing they are to take on someone who so obviously outguns them!
JosieJOK yeah, although sometimes, I wish that Bethesda made it so the raiders and gunners "evolved" with the player and got tougher as you leveled up. Getting more advanced armor and weapons, and eventually they get actual power armor. Would make the game much more fun.
Newer Broom I agree!
Newer Broom - you basically just described what they tried to do with Oblivion, and it was pretty awful. Although that may have been more to do with how you could actually gimp yourself by leveling up too frequently because of how the game handled player stat increases.

This should be renamed to "The Most Recent Flight of the USS Constitution".

the way mandy talks makes me feel like im having a stroke
On the subject of morality, I believe the robots are in the right. They just want to be left alone, they have not attacked, only defended themselves. When considering Codsworth, Curie, KL-E-O, P.A.M., or the robots of Grey Garden: I believe many robots left active for 200 years have become self aware. Maybe not truly people like Gen 3 Synths, but AI none the less. And to have a group of raiders who sell to towns, scavengers, attack 17 times is just over agressive jerks who might wipe out my lovely Grey Garden next. Scavengers bad, Ironsides good.
Yeah but these robots don't need caps for food guns, ammo, etc... so I personally went with the scavengers
Jurassic Pranks but then the scavengers betray you...
Jurassic Pranks Then they should started farming.
G Turpin lol so you'd really side with robots instead of helping actual people?
Yes, especially since that was the first time I talked with a scavenger. They always shoot first and die. At least the reboots value human life.
"Damn you Wetherby Savings and Loan! I spit at you!"
*What I think is the most beneficial option:*
1. Get the parts needed for the ship
JakeSpacePirate E I think it was a huge missed opportunity. The minutemen could've allied with Ironsides and raided the Predwyn using the ship.
Many missed opportunity's are present within this game. Reprogramming Liberty Prime for the Minutemen and attacking the Brotherhood, making more 'Director' choices with the institute, destroying the main factions with the Nuka-World raiders, challenging Elder Maxon to the title of Elder... *Sigh* The list goes on. ;(
Well the minutemen did exist during the time the ship was built
JakeSpacePirate E here's the thing. There is cut content where you could have challenged elder Maxon together with Danse for leadership of the Brotherhood. Huge missed opportunity.
Loved the mission. Always side with the robots. Side with "humanity" and honour above making a buck. Screw the backstabbing scrappers
Well, that ship is sailing between banks.
get it?
Yes😂😂
Dude I almost sprayed soda all over my screen 🤣
Lol it sails trough the air only to land on another even higher builing.
I laughed when i saw it crashland on the other building.
A succesfull launch ironsides called it.
*exits power armour and jumps off prydwen*
Ha
Stoßtruppen they don't defend themselves for me, I'm just walking along and then 20 gunners open fire on me.
The people in this quest are awful, I am totally for the robots.
There’s actually a mod that puts the SS constitution
I don't have a problem with killing off these scavengers. In the end the give you no choice of handing them the ship and it's scrap without it resulting in your death. This makes them no better than raiders
How the ship hasn't already burned down with all the Mr Handy retrothrusters is a miracle in itself.
Bet you're fun at parties m8
Adam Rodriguez lol
I first was hesitant when approaching them as I was only about level 12 and I went into VATS to scout it out and saw Ironsides with a Skull next to his health bar and sprinted the other way 🤣
That's what I do now. If I see someone who I think may be an enemy, I just lock onto them in VATS. Friendly NPC won't light up red
When the ship finally took off i was feeling so nostalgic for Disney's Treasure Planet
TheRPGenius Irony and Ironsides. I don't know if you meant to do that or not, but bravo for that my dude
The thing is, you aren't aware that the scavengers have no qualms about attacking you if you side with them. If you did, the choice would be easier.
@@JoelCarli *Betrayed*
The best part of this quest is that the quest-giver sounds like an inexhaustibly exuberant Darth Vader
Flibber Nodgets I was just thinking the same thing haha
Now I want a sequel where Ironsides gets tossed into lava and has to replace one limb with a fleshy one.
"if that answer is not to your satisfaction. I'm afraid you must make your peace with it"
I'll be using this line from now on.
Why does almost everyone skip the fact that robots in the commonwealth actually have free will?
It's just their programming that makes it seem that way.
@Bigdrake good luck killing library prime
Bigdrake No, Curie and Codsworth are national treasures of Commonwealth.

As an honorably discharged US Navy veteran the scavengers did not take one more breath than it took for them to say they were basically going to destroy the oldest commission warship in the US Navy.

Same I used to live in Boston in the USS constitution is truly beautiful
The constitution is a precious piece of history. I'd be loathe to let the scavengers destroy it.

Comedy aside;
What I did was side with Ironsides.
4 marks
@benjamin ramsey You must have missed the part about Thanos where I said;
“I’m pretty sure most of us would disagree.” The keyword in that sentence being ‘us’.
So basically Bethesda is trash
Honestly it would be the coolest thing if President Ironsides teamed up with the minutemen and you could use the shop as a counterpart to the prydwen.
@@natenate4980 Dude that would be awesome. Imagine using the ship to fly over and bombard raider strongholds.
You know what really sucked, How close the ship was to the water before it took off
If only Ironsides could join the minutemen.
Do a vid on NCR next please
I sided with the scavs
Roast me
I gotta say, I do not agreed with the whole "I'm a scavenger too" thing and I don't think is immoral to kill them and this is why: first of all, we do not board the ship to scavenge it, we do because we are "invited" by Ironsides crew; second, as you show in this brilliant video, no mater what you do to help the scavengers, in the end they still want to kill you.
Filipe Fragoso
But in the game the character said i’m a scavenger
With regards to Ironsides' belief that the war with China is ongoing, I'd like to say that his thought process most likely goes something like: "The last data I received said that a state of war existed between the US and China. Until and unless I hear otherwise, I must assume that this state of war still exists."
Foolish perhaps, but it does have a certain logic to it.
Cait: Thank god you didn't side with the robots.
Also Cait: Cait disliked that.
I looked at the ship and I immediately thought:
*Treasure Planet???*
Same
Love it when he says "in a mere century we will take to the ocean".
Dimas Arellano wrote: "they may be robots but they're living beings as well"
Also if you side with the settlers then they will betray you in the end.
i agree with u i would take the bots side as well .
Man the way you narrate these quests is fantastic, all I wanna do is play games but I have a full time job. The way you script these videos make it perfect to listen to while I work.
I think its really cute how the Protectons mention that they must protect the Constitution. Of course, it refers to the document, not the ship. :P
Surrealist Gal
Why do you say that? They were reprogrammed by Ironsides and the ship is the Constitution.
windex
Oh I confused alright but I understand that the ship is named after the document but the Protectrons are definitely talking about the ship
That's not true. The United States military's, and all it's robots, goal is to defend the document.
List of Importance:
-The Document (As in it's ideology)
-The Government
-The People
-The Nation (As in land)
These robots have such awesome voices
My only question is how in the everlasting heck did Ironsides reprogram the rest of the bots with no goddamn hands?
@@SorowFame Maybe he just, I dunno, somehow did so without hands? Like maybe robots can communicate telepathically? I dunno.
In my first encounter with this quest in full, I sided with the Scavengers on account of they are human and the robot are not, and theres good loot on that boat. I gotta tell you Ive never been more angry at an NPC in my life than when Mandy backstabbed me.
"You're lucky. We don't gun you down." They say to two people wearing power armor One that has a Gatling laser.
I'm really glad that I helped the robots the very first time I played through this quest, especially after I've seen the other ending now!
I still think that seeing it launch and hit the other building was by far the best quest end in the whole game.
It certainly made laugh anyway!
I just love the fact Ironsides curses the bank "Damn you, Weatherby Savings and Loan!" :D
