Right. I have my great grandmothers .25 carat set. She was married for 67 years. Or even a lab diamond (so I know someone didn’t die digging it out of the ground). As someone with a mother who is on her third marriage this is so true. I’ve never thought about considering that. It’s about what they want and should also be about what they can afford. I compliment people’s rings. All it tells me is they are married or engaged and how much money they have a lot of the time.
Like 50 years ago I worked for a business owned by 2 brothers and a cousin. One of the brothers was a real "ladies man". He had a friend in jewelry business who had sold him a half dozen, identical, "family heirloom" engagement rings. He got "engaged" and reaped the benefits until they got tired of waiting to set a date and dumped him. At least he didn't marry them all and he let them keep the rings. He never married.

When my husband and I first got married, I had the choice of a HUGE wedding ring or the choice of a smaller ring and a piano 🎹‼️ I chose the smaller ring & piano, as I was going to use a beautiful band from my Grandma as our Wedding band... My husband upgraded my wedding set for our 25th wedding anniversary 🥰💕❣️ I STILL love my original set... But I absolutely love my newer set even more, mainly because it was designed by my husband and our family jeweler and I didn't know he was going to do THIS 🥰💕❣️ It turned out amazing❣️ In August, we will have been together as a couple for 29 years... But our wedding anniversary is not until February of NEXT year‼️ One of the first things I did AFTER we got married was to get my finger tattooed, as I have MANY health issues and I was constantly in & out of the hospital for MANY years.
