I have friends in Utah that hunt to feed their family and surrounding families in their neighborhood. They store elk and venison in their freezers to be able to have protein year round. My mom’s family is from New Mexico and hunting for our needs while using every part of the animal are part of our tribes’ practices. Like you stated, it isn’t strange at all. More restaurants are learning how to make gourmet meals out of these proteins while others dry such meats for camping, snacks, and so forth.
