He is not completely out of line.
1001 nights is a collection of stories from all over the middle-east, central Asia and souther Asia, with decided Indian influences.
With the original Aladdin describing Alladin dwelling in "one of the cities of Ancient China", with the most realistic setting being the Kara-Khanid Khanate in central Asia. The same region the Mughal empire originated, which incindentally ruled over most of India and had Arga as it's capital for much of its existence. And keeping in mind that in early Arabic usage, "China" is known to have been used in an abstract sense to designate an exotic, faraway land, so very well could also be India.
And the Disney movie is calling the city Alladin plays in "Agra-bah" (though initially it was planned to be Baghdad), gave Jasmin a very Indian look and a Bengal tiger as a pet and had them ride on a magic carpet (which doesn't feature in the original Aladdin story, but is bought in Vijayangara, India, in another story of the original 1001 nights).
So seeing Aladdin as somewhat Indian is not as far off, as you'd think, if looked through from a historic context.

Okay Imma give y’all a good tip if you actually wanna try making Indian food- always start with some oil and when it’s hot, toss in jeera seeds (not sure what that is in English). Then you wanna use gigi paste (ginger garlic paste)- you can make your own by blending up ginger and garlic) or buy some at your local Indian store. And now you have a good base for something authentic!
Also if you find Indian food spicy here’s a STUNNING recipe for the ultimate spice abatement tool- my own Cucumber Raita! Take 3-4 heaping tablespoons of whole milk yoghurt (or Dahi). Freshly grate Persian or normal cucumber (after peeling it!) and mix your cucumber with your yoghurt. Don’t worry about the water from the cucumber bc that’s will loosen up the yoghurt. Add a little black pepper and a little salt (to taste)- optionally some people like to add a chopped chili but as someone who has been victim to a bite full of chilis, you can avoid chili your first time. And there you go- best Raita ever!
