  • Simple fork seal change on Beta 290 2009. Note the other fork will have the spring internals but changing the seal is still the same process. Take note of what order the spring internals come apart.
    Oil level is 120mm on spring side and 60mm on the other. Oil should be measured with fork leg fully compressed.
    5w fork oil not 7.5 as stated in video.
    This method of changing the seals roughly the same on most trials bikes.

    Replaced the factory seals on a 2015 Evo 300 about a year ago after watching your video. Just serviced them yesterday, never would have tried it without your detailed video. Many thanks.

    It would be good to finish the job with setting oil height . And how you install the oil. Most important part man

    Great video!!! I have to change both seals in my evo 300 2013 and your video has detailed everything really good.
    Do know how much oil in milliliters is needed in each fork? I don’t have the tool to mesure the level.
    Thanks for the video!

    Great effort hats off. But really really would love to know how you got the bottom bolt back in after filling it from the bottom lol. I’ve never seen or done that before and I do it for a living. Great video keep it up 👍

    how do you take apart the cartridge to properly clean it ? i did the same as you but it really needs to come apart for a proper cleaning before reassembly .

    Thanks for the great and informative video. One question I have, at 13:00 when you talk about the seal orientation, is this correct? I'm currently attempting the same job with the same forks and make of seal.
    I thought the same as you however I also contacted the manufacturer to check and they said the side with the writing on should remain visible (so the non oil side). From your video I think you're doing it the other way?
    Does anyone have any experience with this? Which way is correct?

      @sw-freeride  2 года назад

      Hi thanks for the comment. As far as I know everything was correct. Although this vid was made a few years ago now! Usually the seal will go flat side down. The inner side will have a spring inset into a groove in the seal.

    hello, how much oil goes into the return fork ?? the one without spring ?? the manual says 6cm from the top edge, but it doesn't say if the cartridge should be full ...

    why back off the top clicker/adjuster screws?what does that do?. Also on my beta i just slide the seal on from the other end no nead for tape. Also like the other fella said how do you refill .

    Do you not need to bleed these forks ? If they are anything like tech forks you do.

    Hey i have Question...

  • @jongrant5496
    @jongrant5496 3 года назад +2

    Sorry but why put the seal on the bottom of the stanchion, whilst saying be careful of the sharp edges? Why not put the seal on from the top? Surely if you change the bottom bush put that on first, grease or oil the stanchion and put it into the lower. Then slide the top bush down, with the cup and push into place with the seal driver. Then put the (oiled) seal on from the top and seat that with the fork driver. Never, ever use a metal screwdriver to lever up the fork wiper, one slip and you'll be amazed at the price of a new stanchion.

    • @IgyTheVan

      Putting the oil seal on from the top - exactly what I am thinking.

    • @spongeyspongey5983
      @spongeyspongey5983 2 года назад

      exactly why I just re-read this, couldn't see why it wouldn't go on the top?... no sharp edges?!.. that is my plan anyway..

    You really are not sure of what you are doing and how to do it. Pull your valve stacks to clean and drain them properly and assemble your fork tubes before you install the seal; then you install the seal and stuff from the top. That way you do not have to tape the lower slider bushing grove, hence it is less likely to cut the seal installing it from the top.
    AND you do not pour the fork oil in through the bottom, assemble it completely then pour it in from the cap like you should.
