Just gotta say. I picked up a 2001 kx 250 that had a bad crank bearing. I’ve done construction for 14 years, so a bit of mechanical knowledge. With all your videos, I was able to order all the correct parts, and completely rebuild my Kx, all the way from frame. Back to running. You are simply the man. And go figure, now I have to rebuild my forks. And here I am once again. You have turned me into a two stroke lover and believer. Thank you for all the spitfire rebuild videos , seriously. I was able to do it all with tools I have acquired normally over the years as well. And my god does she rip now.
@@The_Emotionals this is absolutely amazing dude! Stoked that you were able to turn your 01 around into a ripper! Thank you for the feedback on the videos. I try and pass along my knowledge for everyone who has helped me along the way as well. Much appreciated. People like you are the ones that need to help keep these ol' two strokes alive and kicking! Enjoy the bike and keep me posted if you need anything else 🤙🏼💨
Hi mate recently bought an 06 CR 125 Was pulling it down to start rebuilding. Forgot about the Forks made the tool like you said used a piece of plumbing pipe worked great 😊 Thanks for the help 👍
Dude this is the raddest news I've heard in a while. So glad you made the tool and it worked for you! Thanks for trying it out and leaving the feedback. Little elbow grease goes a long way🙌🏼. Thanks again!
Great video! You really helped to take the nervousness and unknown away and showing how really easy it is to do by taking a step by step approach and pointing out the finer points. Now, you need to do a set of Showa!! 😅😅
This deserves a like and subscribe from me. I have a 99 125 and my oil seals seem to be shot. I’ve been dreading having to rebuild them but this eased my nerves of screwing them up, and also realize how bad my oil level is in them…😬 thankyou.
Right on dude! Stoked this video was able to help you out. Hopefully you were able to get through the rebuild no problem. Thanks for the feedback as well!
I wish you had made this video 2 years ago! I just used the impact to get it back together. I did use your electrical tape tricks. I did use Pro-X parts too. I actually thought that was fun to rebuild the forks. I did notice vertical wear through the anodizing on the inside of the uppers? Cab that be stripped and anodized again?
It's pretty fun to get them rebuilt eh?? I really enjoy it. It's not the end of the world to use the impact to get them back together, like I said in a pinch, you'll be fine! Pro-X is some good stuff too 🙌🏼. I'm not sure of anything to reanodize the inside beside doing kashima coating which is inside and out! I'll have to research👍🏼
Which oil do you think is better, the blue label Maxima fork oil that you used? Or the Fork Oil Spectrum 85/150 cartridge fork fluid synthetic petroleum blend? Best regards from jalisco mexico.
Great video!! Thank you. Does anyone take the inner cartridge apart to get at the o-rings and valves inside it? I tried to separate mine and could not find a way.
Anytime Scott! That is a great question, I was actually wondering the same thing. I was trying to google it myself, but didn't get too far. If I figure it out, I'll whip something up!
Do you tighten the top cap down on the rod and then snug the nut up ? I just tightened finger tight and then brought the nut up to it and the rebound seems more open then it normally did when turned in.
Hi, do you know if the forks you are dismantling in the video are the Kayaba 48mm USD that the Kove 800X PRO is fitted with? it would seem so, apart from the color of the tube and the fork leg.
@GregHitchko watched the video 10 times cause I was stoned spent 20 mins in home hardware just to buy the wrong pipe and found a metal jack tube I cut the end up on and made it work lol
Hello! Greetings from Argentina, I have a 1994 KX250 and I wanted to know how many ml of oil to put in it, I added 560 ml as the manual says. But I think I was wrong, right?
Well do what he does in the video pumping the rod up and down while keep adding oil then pump the form because he said there could be some in there still and then look up how far down the oil is supposed to be from the top
I rebuilt a '99 too. The 99 gear ratios are horrific. I swapped in a 95 kdx gear cluster for a wider ratio. After the first rebuild on the forks, the tool isn't really needed. I zip mine on and off with an impact.
@@GregHitchko If I remember correctly, 2002 had a very likeable set of ratios. On my 99 1st and 2nd felt like the same gear. If you need bushings for your gear swap, let me know. Since I did mine I acquired the skills to turn my own.
Need to do fork seals on my 97 kx250, Want to use the links to support the channel when purchasing items. The links are for 2024 kx250. If I use a link to get to RM and then search for 1997 items will that still help out the channel? Also your channel is awesome and videos are very helpful
Heck yeah Anthony, you'll have no problem rebuilding the 97 forks. As long as you click the link, it triggers it on their end. I really appreciate you doing so, means a lot 🙌🏼🙏🏼. Let me know if I can help you out if you need it. Cheers man!
You need to make sure your forks are parallel. If the bottom of the forks are pinched inward, you put a bind on the insides of your fork seals making them wear FAST. Motion pro sells a tool to align your forks or you can try the bounce method. On the stand loosen the axle pinch bolts opposite of the axel nut, take of the stand and cycle or bounce the front suspension. Then carefully snug the axle pinch bolts. Put back on stand and torque everything with out loosening. This method will set the forks parallel. I had the same problem years ago, actually bought the motion pro tool and use it a lot more than I thought I would. The tool is not bike specific so you can use it on any bike.

I'm using this guide for my 2003 yz450 forks that I am using on a crazy DR650 build I'm doing.
I made the tool and it worked perfectly. 10/10. Thanks for the videos!

Best video I've ever seen for these forks!!!! Thank you!
@@happycampa1 thanks dude! Hope it helped you out 🙌🏼💨
Great video, I used this video as a guide to rebuild my 2000 yz250 forks. They work amazing now and no more leaks. Thanks!!
Are the forks the stock forks? Mines are leaking and I want to rebuild them as well
Awesome dude! So glad this video was able to help you out. They are pretty much the same forks! i appreciate the feedback as well. Ride hard, be safe!
Yessir, these are the stock forks, good luck with the rebuild when you try it. Let me know if you have any questions!
Back in the day my dad would cut a slit in the old seal, and use it to drive in the new
I've also seen that done too! Good stuff dude 👍🏼

Hello Greg. Do I need to release top screw in fork tube cap that regulates adjustment rod?
Yessir, you can do that before taking them apart 👍🏼
Do you tighten the top cap down on the rod and then snug the nut up ? I just tightened finger tight and then brought the nut up to it and the rebound seems more open then it normally did when turned in.

Hi mate. The Swm rs300 uses same forks, you wouldn't know what the oil level should be? Thanks
Hi, do you know if a zeta lowering kit can be used in these style forks? Looking to lower a 01 yz125.
can i put less oil to make it softer?
What about the seals in the damper?
Made my own tool thanks brother
Heck yeah bro! Glad you were able to make it happen. Thanks for the feedback

Are the prox bushings good ? I'm a little afraid them because they are made in taiwan
I've never had an issue but if you are concerned, then oem is also another way to go 👍🏼. They all wear out eventually 😄
Can't you loosen the bottom from the damper rod before removing the cap?
You can damage the internals...I don't recommend doing that
I keep blowing my 05s… No whatever what I do.. I think they are tweeked :/
Damn they must be! Strange that they keep blowing out on you. You should be able to find those forks for pretty cheap on eBay
