I saw Metallica in 1990 in Buffalo NY at Monsters of Rock concert!!!! I was 18 yrs old.😋 Sooo back in the day. I'm 51 yrs old now. I have been there since Metallica's very beginning.🔴
Back in 1991, it was unprecedented that a western, heavy metal band was even allowed to perform in Russia. This happened near the end of the Soviet Union Era. Just goes to show you how Metallica was a band that had no borders. Political or otherwise. So glad you got around to watching this historic event.
So a live performances like the 1991 Monsters Of Rock International music festival was a common occurrence in the Soviet Union? So, because I only commented on this reaction video made you draw this ridiculous conclusion that the previous western music festival was nothing ? Please.
Just a bit of correction... AC/DC, The Black Crowes, Pantera and E.S.T. also played in that Monsters of Rock concert. Also.. Jean Michel Jarre played for a 3 million crowd in 1997.
You should definitely watch Creeping Death from the same concert. Personally it was even more amazing for me. Greetings from Poland, love your genuine reactions man..
I always enjoy seeing reactions to this - your personality is perfect for it. My favorite video of Metallica was from Howard Stern, with Miley Cyrus, when Elton John came in on a video call and said Nothing Else Matters was one of the best songs ever written. James literally had tears and was genuinely touched.
Metallica is 1 of my favorite bands of all time they have some absolutely incredible songs and Enter Sandman is in my top 10 favorite songs from Metallica. This was about a year before I was born
Omg, I feels like an impossible task to manage such a crowd and organize an event at this scale. How did they even pull it off?! 👀 I feel like people's mentality was different at that time too. I don't think it would be possible to hold such an event now. But it's truly amazing.
1.6 million of Metallica's closest and most die hard rock fans gathering for a very special occasion!! Amazing performance!!! Creeping Death is the other song that they did at this concert that was mind-blowing excellent!!
all the towers you see everywhere are all sound speakers - so they were heard everywhere - this ismy favorite live concert anything - Metallica and this song - my favorites and it is perfect
This one set off the richter scale it was so huge. This performance goes down in music history for where they were able to play. Moscow opened itself up for an incredible and amazing show. Wow! Thank you for sharing this.
current record is DOUBLE this concert Rod Stewart holds the current world record for the biggest gig of all time - in 1994, he also performed on Copacabana Beach to to a staggering 3.5 million people celebrating New Year's Eve.
Day 101 of recommending the Beyblade openings. There are the Japanese ones and the English ones. The English version has one opening for a generation, and that for the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!
DragonForce has some incredibly long songs I would recommend watching Through The Fire And The Flames if you want a song that has a amazing guitar solo in it
I went to Ozzy , Metallica concert, in 1986 it was so insane. I was very front pushed up against the stage. I lost my hearing for like a whole week. And that concert was totally insane. I could not imagine this one.
this concert is monster of rock in moscow 1991. the highlight band is ac/dc. but metallica's part becomes famous because it shows how massive the sea of peoples captured in the video. while ac/dc's part aren't because they performed in the night
Any pre-Black Metallica is the best, but Master of Puppets cannot be beat. Every song is a masterpiece, and it's got my two favorite Metallica tracks - Welcome Home (Sanitarium) and Orion.
Great video ! also little um actually moment, this is not the biggest ever crowd at a concert I think there are 4 or 3 in front of them, 2 of them being concerts of Jean Michel Jarre which I believe holds first place but this is the biggest metal concert and an enormous one for sure. Edit : Nevermind it apparently is Rob Stewart
It's August 1991, you're on this massive tour and you get a call that says we want to add one more stop to this freight train. Then you're told it's going to be just outside of Moscow. A show as a reward for stopping the coup as the Iron Curtain begins to fall. You roll into Russia, and take over the damn country in just a few short hours. "I'm not even sure if we got paid for that show" ~ Jason Newsted Metallica in the '90s was the biggest band on the globe. James commanded an army of 1 million plus people that day. And it really hasn't changed. I've seen them 11 times now. And each show was just as good. Sonically - The Black album is their best. It was the album that introduced me to the band, and metal music as a whole. Everything blended so well together. But favorite overall.....It's always between Ride the Lightning & AJFA AJFA was introduced to me at a time in my teens when things were really bad at home. The raw aggression of that album really did something for me. Dyers Eve especially.
Back in the early 90s I was at a few concerts that starred a few big names.. April Wine, Sven Gali, Lee Aaron (if you have never seen her, check her out), Samantha Fox, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, George Thurgood, Meat Loaf. All were good, but Meat Loaf was the most memorable. That man knew how to grab and work an audience. Highly recommend seeing any of hours live performances.
Favorite album: Master of Puppets, runner up: And justice for all..., honorable mention to Load for having some cool tracks while receiving soo much hate.
oh boy, thats what i've been waiting for. Best concert ever. you should also check creeping death and fade to black from that concert. Also I think most metallica fans would rather say MoP or ajfa are their favorites while the black is always mentioned as the first mainstream album. My fav is kill em all tho.
Mine is and justice for all. Was my first ever album I bought in 1988 when I was 10. To live is to die is my fav metallica song off this album. In memory of former bass player Cliff Burton. R.I.P. check out fade to black by metallica from Moscow 1991- EPIC.
React to ------literally any live King Diamond performance ------Emperor, I Am the Black Wizards, live at Wacken 2006 ------Nightwish, Ghost Love Score, live at Wacken 2013 ------Blind Guardian, The Bard's Song & Valhalla, live at Wacken 2016
*I have 3 favorite Metallica albums... "Kill Em' All", Master of Puppets" and ... "And Justice For All". They're not just my favorite Metallica albums.. they're my 3 favorite albums, period.* 🤘🤘🤘
I am hardcore Led Zeppelin. No one is better. Goats. But, of the modern rockers only Metallica is close to them. On the steps of Zeppelins greatness. Metallica is serious about the music. They are not just about being on the road and girls. They are real musicians and they do real rock. And they take their jobs seriously. these guys are always trying to be better. But, Enter Sandman is the best. I just think it's the best of the best. It's their Stairway. Their Kashmir. The best song by a band in the modern era - post 1980 - was Enter Sandman. These guys are so outstanding. there is simply no modern rock band better then Metcallica. I would stand in the crowd of millions waiting to see them. They are just one of the few that will be revered for decades in the future. Most will be forgotten.
oh man... wanna talk about crowded performances? I mean,. this one was pretty big, and it was not metallica alone. In monsters of rock were also AC/DC, Pantera, The Black Crowes and E.S.T. But if you really want to watch a crowded event, check Rod Stewart in Copacabana, Brazil, in 1994. There were more than 4,000,000 people
"how do you police this?" You don't. In some videos you can see military members rocking along! Also, I don't think anyone could have ever made it to a bathroom ever.
Actually, Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach in 1994 holds the record for the biggest concert of all time (3.5Mil). I love this Metallica footage, have watched it a number of times. But tinged with sadness as something like 2K people died from the lack of OH&S.
Your numbers are messed up, according to unofficial estimates, up to 4.2 million people attended this concert in Brazil. 54 people died at the Metallica concert in Moscow. No, this really wasn't anything like squash in Saudi Arabian Mecca in 2015.😁
They stopped counting at 1.6mil it’s believed by the end of their set it was 2.2mil and near 2.4mil at the end of the festival. I think this was the 3td largest concert.
i would have been cool to be there but im 19 😂 (i have listened to many metallica songs and my dad would be more of "fan" i just really like a bunch of their songs)
I dont think people realize how much is 1 million people in one place until they experience something like this. Im sure the seismographs registered an earthquake during the concert
Completely unrelated but I would love to see you react to the Worlds 2023 Valorant song, Ticking Away. If you liked Die for You, I think you'll love this one too.
I've heard enter Sandman so many times I actually kinda hate it. Back in the day, this song would play twice maybe three times an hour on The BOX. For those who don't know what that is, The BOX was a music television channel that you could call in and pay a couple dollars to have your requested music video play. People payed to have this song play all day long.
This was just a couple of years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, literally seperating eastern and western Europe. This was probably one of the first times in several years, western culture got access to perform in eastern Europe.
Load and Reload tracks were hit or miss. I went to a Reload Tour show (Days of the New, Jerry Cantrell, Metallica) in the late 90's and the newer tracks were performed well live, but they just don't hit like classic Metallica does.

This crowd is insane, and when I think that Rod Stewart got a bigger one in Rio 94 3.5~4 million ... I cant even start to fathom it
I saw Metallica in 1990 in Buffalo NY at Monsters of Rock concert!!!! I was 18 yrs old.😋 Sooo back in the day. I'm 51 yrs old now. I have been there since Metallica's very beginning.🔴
I have heard it was actually bigger b it they stopped counting at 1.6

so the Moscow Peace Concert in 89 means nothing
So a live performances like the 1991 Monsters Of Rock International music festival was a common occurrence in the Soviet Union? So, because I only commented on this reaction video made you draw this ridiculous conclusion that the previous western music festival was nothing ? Please.
Truly historic and not just in music 💯
Just a bit of correction...
AC/DC, The Black Crowes, Pantera and E.S.T. also played in that Monsters of Rock concert.
Also.. Jean Michel Jarre played for a 3 million crowd in 1997.
It was underrated. Nobody understand Motley crue

I second the vote for Creeping Death from this concert
I always enjoy seeing reactions to this - your personality is perfect for it. James literally had tears and was genuinely touched.
Oh I love that! And thank you for the kind words ❤️
Wow, about 1/9 of the entire Moscow population of those years was at this concert! I would give a lot to get to their concert!
Metallica is 1 of my favorite bands of all time they have some absolutely incredible songs and Enter Sandman is in my top 10 favorite songs from Metallica.
This was about a year before I was born
my favorite album is "and justice for all", its really really good, and is really emotional lol, blackened from the album is amazing
Awesome album
Highly recommend looking for the S&M concert they did with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. It's absolutely amazing how well they pair together.
💯💯
The people at the back were over 2 miles away, and didn't care. This was epic both from a concert and historical view.
Omg, I feels like an impossible task to manage such a crowd and organize an event at this scale. How did they even pull it off?! 👀
I feel like people's mentality was different at that time too. I don't think it would be possible to hold such an event now. But it's truly amazing.

Jeez I'll have to check out that one too!
love me some metallica

Great idea 💯

One of the greatest!!!Invaluable 🔥🤘

I can feel the energy from this every time I watch it.
Any pre-Black Metallica is the best, but Master of Puppets cannot be beat. Every song is a masterpiece, and it's got my two favorite Metallica tracks - Welcome Home (Sanitarium) and Orion.
Yes! Orion is my favorite Metallica song!!
i grew up with the monsters of rock tours and it was glorious
The incredible Metallica ❤❤❤... more video metallica maybe...
Never ever for no band would I be in that crowd!!! Claustrophobic.. I would totally freak ... Very happy watching it here😅
Great video ! also little um actually moment, this is not the biggest ever crowd at a concert I think there are 4 or 3 in front of them, 2 of them being concerts of Jean Michel Jarre which I believe holds first place but this is the biggest metal concert and an enormous one for sure.

🤯
Some performances are epic, nothing compares. This is one of those examples.

Most people nowadays forget, that Lee Aaron was one of the first successful hard rock band with a female vocalist.
Favorite album: Master of Puppets, runner up: And justice for all..., honorable mention to Load for having some cool tracks while receiving soo much hate.
Since you asked... my favorite album is Master of Puppets. But there are so many great options to choose from. S&M definitely contends.
Those are speakers stacked super high in the back of the crowd so everyone can hear. Insane
oh boy, thats what i've been waiting for. Best concert ever. you should also check creeping death and fade to black from that concert. Also I think most metallica fans would rather say MoP or ajfa are their favorites while the black is always mentioned as the first mainstream album. My fav is kill em all tho.
this towers you see in the distance are made of speakers...thats how the people in the back can listen too ;) nice reaction
Lars did an interview with Conan and talked about this show, he called it a "mindfuck"
Those structures way out in the back. Those are amps, and speakers. Everyone heard!!
The people in the back heard the first chord when the show was over... 😂
They released a new album this year!
My favourite album was the Black album, right up till S&M was released, and then it was S&M.
Mine is and justice for all. Was my first ever album I bought in 1988 when I was 10. To live is to die is my fav metallica song off this album. In memory of former bass player Cliff Burton. R.I.P. check out fade to black by metallica from Moscow 1991- EPIC.

------Blind Guardian, The Bard's Song & Valhalla, live at Wacken 2016
I second the suggestion to watch (or react) to Creeping Death from this concert.
James Hetfield did a interview with Joe Rogan where he talks about this concert. Good interview!
There are speaker stacks all over and way back for all to hear.
*I have 3 favorite Metallica albums... "Kill Em' All", Master of Puppets" and ... "And Justice For All". They're not just my favorite Metallica albums.. they're my 3 favorite albums, period.* 🤘🤘🤘
fav albums has too be ride the lighting and master of puppets. St. Anger is also a goood shout
Ride the lighting is my favourite
MASTER OF PUPPETS IS MY FAVORITE ALBUM
It was VERY violent. Moskow 1991.
Most incredible band you will ever se live!!
Creeping Death and Harvester of Sorrow next please.. same show!! xo
>Creeping Death
BASED. Song has such a good chord progression. Very underrated by metal fans in general.
This was epic history. A veritable sea of people.
Actually, Metallica was the opening act, everyone was there to hear Milli Vanilli. Just kidding, didn't happen. 🙃🙃🙃🙃🤪🤪😂😂🤣🤣
😂
😂
I am hardcore Led Zeppelin. No one is better. Goats.

#1 and justice for all #2 black album.
Great Reaction to the my Favorite band of all time 🫡 if you do more Metallica I will be back thank you 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Real METAL!!!
Justice for all is my favorite
It was free show in russia in 1991) cause of that the guys that sniffs the wind of freedom goes to that show
Imagine being the guy that invented the Moshpit and it happened in this crowd xD
Have you ever reacted to Jim Breuer metal impressions or Jim Breuer Metallica parody 2003
"how do you police this?"
You don't. In some videos you can see military members rocking along!
Also, I don't think anyone could have ever made it to a bathroom ever.
Yeah honestly the amount of human feces must have been staggering.
Each of those towers are all speakers to repeat to sound
It was the 5th largest concert of all time.
Actually, Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach in 1994 holds the record for the biggest concert of all time (3.5Mil). I love this Metallica footage, have watched it a number of times. But tinged with sadness as something like 2K people died from the lack of OH&S.
I was wondering if someone was going to correct this guy.
Your numbers are messed up, according to unofficial estimates, up to 4.2 million people attended this concert in Brazil. 54 people died at the Metallica concert in Moscow.
No, this really wasn't anything like squash in Saudi Arabian Mecca in 2015.😁
Metallica's And Justice For All is by far my favorite but Garage Days is a close 2nd.
Find out some info about your Rod Stewart's New Year's concert (4.2 million) in Brazil or Jean-Michel Jarre's concert in Moscow.(3.5 million)😊
METAL! Hell yeah!
Earthquake moment.
Master of Puppets!
you should react to Ecstasy of gold by ennio morricone, is the song from the beginning of the show
Wow.. Wow.. Amazing 💪💪💪👍👍👍
James
Sleep with one eye open…
Me
Dammit James that’s a sign of a stroke!
u dont need security at metal concerts...bc...we metalheads are rly kind . 😎🤘
the lead guitar of metalica is a Filipino migrated in America
Всем привет! Для обеспечения безопасности была привлечена ещё и армия.
They just stopped counting at 1.6mill well over 2mill👍🇮🇪
It was on an air strip.
I really think Metallica was really great here. And I'm not really into heavy metal. But Have been several concerts at the feel more West.
I dont think people realize how much is 1 million people in one place until they experience something like this. Im sure the seismographs registered an earthquake during the concert
Rod Stewart had 4.2 million people at his concert in Rio de Janiero
Completely unrelated but I would love to see you react to the Worlds 2023 Valorant song, Ticking Away. If you liked Die for You, I think you'll love this one too.
Ride the lightning

For those who don't know what that is, The BOX was a music television channel that you could call in and pay a couple dollars to have your requested music video play. And no one shot or stabbed. Cant we all just get along? Same year
This was just a couple of years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, literally seperating eastern and western Europe. This was probably one of the first times in several years, western culture got access to perform in eastern Europe.
For me Master of Puppets, killem all, and ride the lightning then the rest on equal measure
Metallica actually have a new album that came out earlier this year called 72 Seasons. Go check it out.
Iˋm still trying to get out to my car🤗
Master of Puppets is my fave album.
I heard Metallica fans hate the load album but I remember it fondly. Hero of the day is a really awesome song.
Load and Reload tracks were hit or miss. I went to a Reload Tour show (Days of the New, Jerry Cantrell, Metallica) in the late 90's and the newer tracks were performed well live, but they just don't hit like classic Metallica does.
Not all fans. I like load an re load. Ajfa is my favorite.
This is why the evil ones fear us, WE HAVE THE NUMBERS. GODS PEOPLE. Support from Australia 🇦🇺 brother.
estimates are closer to 2.1 million.
they stopped counting at 1.6 million
Yeah that line of soldiers are about as tough as tissue paper.
You shoud react to "Argentina the best crowd ever" just take a look at it if u havent.
